I actually prefer to be suprised. Some of my favorite books have been unexpected presents.

Me, I already bought Slaughterhouse-Five, Trainspotting and A Game Of Thrones to give to some friends. :)

The last few years I've gotten an Amazon GC at Xmas time from my partner. I'm hoping for the same this year - it's the main way I can afford all the SW hardcovers!

I'm looking for some fantasy books to give to some friends, but I don't want to give the same thing to all of them. I've already exhausted what I have read, so I need some good ones that I haven't yet.

What kind of fantasy? Vampires/supernatural on earth, humor, political, stuff involving dragons, etc.?

I'll say right now that if you're looking for funny, you can't go wrong with Robert Asprin's M.Y.T.H. series.

You know me, I like Jordan/Sanderson/Salvatore type stuff. :p Sci-Fi works as well, as I enjoy quite a few of those.

I have Drew Karpyshyn's Dynasty of Evil on my wish list,
not really anything beyond that. Why? Because I liked
the first two novels in the series.

Dynasty of Evil and a running Gift Certificate to the Comic Book store. I have way too many comics on my current reading list and now add the just announced Return of Bruce Wayne in April to my ever growing list. They are murdering my pocketbook slowly, painfully but surely! :D

I think the only thing out right now I would want is Warbreaker. Why? Because you can never have enough Sanderson.

Ah, RJ, you're so right. There were nine in The Clone Wars. I always mix them up.

Yeah, CW is 9, then Dark Times, then Empire is 7 but the storyline goes smoothly from Empire 7 to Rebellion 1/

For that matter, the CW-DT transition is likewise smooth (I think they're technically the same series? I don't keep up that closely)

They're not the same series in that they don't center on the same characters, aka Quinlan Vos and company. But yeah, the transition between the two was extra smooth. Dark Times never comes out fast enough for me. It's really an awesome series, and so well executed.

Yeah, they're technically the same series -- Republic's numbering is continued in Dark Times (Dark Times 1 is also Republic 84). Same thing with Empire and Rebellion -- Rebellion continues Empire's numbering.

Havac: Yeah, that's what I thought. But since I only get TPBs (and omnibuses, though those are technically TPBs as well), I never really see those numbering systems.
