Yup... Usually, there's the wink : ;) , but sometimes I simply put a :D at the end of my post, because when I say something stupid in 'real' life, I do a dumb smile like that, while people stare at me thinking : 'Oh my God, he's kriffin' stupid...' Except they don't think kriffin', but another swear word, because they're not that much into SW...

    :D <- you see ?

    :D

EDIT : Hum... What do you use on pizzas ? Amanites ?

I find that I use ;) and :) way too much, but they are the only faces I can ever remember how to do.

Is an Amanite anything like an Anchovy?

"Hey, Val, you're not interested in gays' sex lives, and not in heteros' sex lives, then that means... YOU'RE INTERESTED IN LESBIANS' SEX LIVES !!!!"

    LOL.

Well, actually, you need another prescision, ;), considering Lesbians are Gays(gay meaning same sex, not having any actual gender). lesbians, is actually gender specific term, a term to give females a slight different unique name(don't ask me why.), they fall under that same category as gay, that i'd rather not know about it. I've seen several lesbian couples that kissed before, and it's not pretty. Considering the ones I've seen, one was more masculine, while the other is femminine. Psychology book, I read said this is often the case, were they take on roles. This isn't the hollywood lesbian, were they glamorfy it, so that both are feminine and gorgeous. Which I don't believe it's right that Hollywood, exploitation of woman to sell movies and shows, what could be considered soft porn in movies, or the Pornography I don't like.

But, Don't get me wrong, I'm interested in my "own" Hetero sex life, considering I've decided to wait tell i'm married, that'll be sometime in the future.

    Precision is like a vibroblade.

    It cuts deep. :)

And it isn't really proper to use the word "gays" as a plural.

"I don't want to know about gays sex lives..." should read "I don't want to know about gay mens sex lives".

Gays somehow always sounds so unwieldy.

No my posts were refering How i'm not interesting in knowing the sex lives, of gay men, or gay woman. Gay is an androgenous term, that is not gender specific.

Weird I think that woman do get a gender specific word, "lesbian".

I thought about this a while ago and I think it's very unreal. it's understandable that anakin or any of the other solo/skywalker kids choses to go gay but a minor character? hmpr..

'Choosing to go gay'? What's that? Something like--

"Hmmm....For the last couple weeks, I've been attracted to girls. I'm due for a change. So this week, I think I'll be attracted to guys!"

Doesn't work that way, I'm afraid...You either are attracted to guys or girls (or possibly both), or you aren't.

    barns--

    Minor problem.

Toast isn't part of the human condition. Sexual orientation is.

And who says they don't have toast in Star Wars? Just because Luke never started his day by plastering marmalade on his toast...

To be perfectly disgusting I'm not so sure about that.

A person can be attracted to a pillow for all their willingness to be.

Women and men can choose to be more responsive.

While certainly some gay men and women may actually be born that way-prisons are merely places that men need a sexual release from and for the most part return to hetreosexual lifestyles once leaving.

at least as far as I've been told.

As or Gay being a gender nonspecific term I'm not so sure.

Gay after all comes from Gaymede who was a Trojan Prince Zeus brought up to Olympus to be his lover.

Actually Gay is comes from The old french word Gai, which was word for being happy. The use of it for homosexual was a corruption of the word.

    Main Entry: 1gay
    Pronunciation: 'gA
    Function: adjective
Etymology: Middle English, from Middle French gai
    Date: 14th century
1 a : happily excited : MERRY b : keenly alive and exuberant : having or inducing high spirits <abandoned a sober traditional style for one more timely and gay>
    2 a : BRIGHT, LIVELY <gay sunny meadows> b : brilliant in color
3 : given to social pleasures; also : LICENTIOUS
    4 a : HOMOSEXUAL b : of, relating to, or used by homosexuals <the gay rights movement> <a gay bar>
    synonym see LIVELY
    - gay adverb
    - gay·ness noun"

    It is not gender specific.

    Interesting thread..

I don't know about the EU, but I got the impression that the Emperor was gay in ROTJ - when he was trying to "seduce" Luke to the dark side, I got the distinct impression that he was hitting on him. It was very obvious to me - anyone else get the same impression?

And, for the record, I'm of the opinion that blatant homosexuality should stay out of the EU - SW if for kids, and one of the things I like about it is that anyone from all ages should be able to enjoy it, - and, for the record, I'm not anti-gay...in fact, as a straight male, I very much enjoy seeing two women "mugging down" :)
But, I do think there's a time and a place for everything....

    Charlemange--

I wasn't aware that we were talking about prisons in the EU. That kind of artificial, confined conditions was NOT what I was referring to.

I know of no gay person, personally or in print, who has said that he or she consciously chose to be gay. Nor, for that matter, can I recall any heterosexual person making a similar choice.

    Can you?

    Valiento--

The use of the word "gay" to mean "homosexual" derives from definition #3.

3 : given to social pleasures; also : LICENTIOUS

I'm assuming I don't need to spell out the meaning of "social pleasures."

In the 18th or 19th century, referring to a "gay woman" or "gay man" would be a reference to someone who was "loose" in their sexual mores, that is, "licentious."

Certainly in terms of standard sexual mores, people who sought intimacy with others of their own sex would have been deemed "loose" or "licentious" by others and might certainly have been called "gay." Indeed, the stereotype that gays are "loose" or "licentious" is still common today.

More recently, "gay" lost the meaning of "licentious" in colloquial usage, yet the term continued to be applied to homosexuals, where it retained something of its former meaning. That isn't corruption of language. That's just how language evolves.

And the bible refers to numbers, 1, and 2, ;). Which it was used in the 14th-17th century.

If you try to use that word in that way this day and age. You get looked at weird. That is what I mean by corruption of the word. The meaning went from something positive as something rather taboo, complete oppisites.

Quite a few seem to make the choice.

They prefer their lifestyle and are just indignant to my knowledge that society forces them to be either ashamed of it or forced to endure shame of it.

At least those people I know of that sexual persusion.

Can they control who they are attracted to?

No more than what society has made me attracted to and my upbringing....occasinally when I want to be thinking about my girlfriend my mind wanders to Liv Tyler as an elf in the Lord of the Rings....

    Or other faeries.

However attraction is very much I think something which is molded by choice just as much as destiny because what we feel left out of our lives we choose to take on.

Admiration is just a shade of attraction and I believe personally Luke Skywalker perfectly hetreosexual male might admire a being and want to emanuate him to such a point sexual feelings develop.

Sexuality again is just one way of expressing respect and devotion. Take a look at religion and it's connection to Eros for instance.

While hardly the model for a healthy person or relationship or even model gay community member the movie Gia illustrates this point.

Gia manages to "convert" a previously hetreosexual woman to becoming her lover it seems because her lifestyle and personality are so incredibly different that they are attractive and expressing that devotion to her inspires sexual charge in her that they express.

(Gia's attraction seems to be she seemed stable)

So yes I believe it is choice so much as ANYTHING we have is a choice. I'm not so stupid to think it's like picking a malt shake's flavor chocolate or vanilla but really is that a choice either?

What built you to like chocolate or strawberry.

    Sorry I'm musing

Now, charlegmagne did you mean this guy?:

    Ganymede (mythology)

Ganymede (mythology), in Greek mythology, a handsome young Trojan prince whom the god Zeus, in the guise of an eagle, snatched from the midst of his companions and bore up to Mount Olympus. He was granted immortality and replaced Hebe, goddess of youth, as cupbearer to the gods. Ganymede was later identified with the constellation Aquarius, "the Water Bearer."

You mispelled it I think, by leaving out the n. Unless there is somekind of alternate spelling in some books?

The word 'Gay' comes from the words 'good as you' that were a slogan during protests in the 70's.

I am glad people have started to think about this. Remember the petition!

In CotJ, they comment that the big shots from the Corporate sector have gone on vacation without their families or their MISTRESSES. We also have I, Jedi where this idea is pondered closely´and on mporal basis, and rejected.

On Bacta War, there was Sair Yonka who was visiting his mistress, a Moff's wife.

There are lots of these around when one looks even not-so-closely.

And on the skin color question... At least I don't expect a character to be caucasian if it isn't said otherwise.

EDIT: Skip the link I got rid of. My info was old. It's a porno site now... sorry if someone caught the link.

Well adultery like most sexual crimes depends greatly on the circumstance...

I don't approve personally but then I don't approve of promiscuity either or even sex before marriage.

It becomes the grossest of betrayals if done in secrecy and with intent to decieve.

In public I think it on some level just shows one's partner is not good enough for you.

Being unmarried and not dealing with it this is my opinion but I think we're veering from topic.

I stand correctedon the God of Olympus.
