Thirty minutes? Wow. We always get three trailers, sometimes even less, and around 3 minutes of ads.

30 minutes is the absolute max. Films I remember having to sit through such extended periods of purgatory for are the LotR films, Casino Royale and the crappy Pirates sequels.

Well, there's 20 mins of this thing called "The 20" which is basically ads and previews and the like. That happens before the stated movie time start. After that, around the time the movie's supposed to start, you usually get about 5-6 movie trailers which vary from around 30 seconds to 1:30 min. I'd get annoyed if "The 20" started when the movie was supposed to start, though.

Heh. That's a totally unexpected answer! Here nothing happens before the advertised start time. There are still frame adverts on the screen, but they don't draw attention to themselves. After the start time we get adverts, then some cinema propaganda, then a load of trailers, then sometimes a few more ads, and then the film.

The ads and trailers begin at the advertised start time here as well.

And we've now discovered the reason the US have the best film industry in the world.

I tend to try to wait for a week or two before seeing films in the cinema, because then the amount of time they spend blitzing you before the film is usually less than on opening weekend. It's why I'm waiting to see Bourne until Friday.

Plus, there will be less people in the screening. I prefer that.

Actually, I generally do the same thing, Chris. I wait until the initial rush passes and then sit back and enjoy a matinee with just me and my boy. I used to tell him I'd rented out the theater for just us, but he never bought it.

    Yeah, I'm good, my friend.
    Very tired, but good.

Got a lot of work done today and cleared a lot of deadlines with the client, we couldn't have done more than we have today.

Also much happier with how things have played out with the task and stuff.

Listening to Jamie T at the moment.
    ****ing brilliant.

    Have you heard...?

No, I haven't, but I will look on YouTube.

I'm slightly frustrated, as I couldn't tie up some work issues due to external interference. Tomorrow promises to be a hellish day.

    How was your weekend?

    Brilliant album.
I bought it with a bunch of others a month or so ago, on iTunes.

Listened to the others I bought to death, and then remembered i had bought this based purely on the reviews, not hearing a note.

Started listening to it a week ago and it is BLOWING ME AWAY.
It's like a much more multi-layered version of The Streets.

I love it when you find a gem of an album that you'd forgotten about. :)

    .....

    Sorry about the work, man.
Sucks when you can't get stuff sorted before you leave.

Other than working a big chunk of it, weekend was all good.

Saw my Godson, had a lovely takeaway south indian curry (yum!), and shared a bottle or two of red wine with his parents. After dinner we sat and watched Little Children with Kate Winslet, which I really enjoyed.

On Sunday, I got out of London and went to see a friend of my best mate's play a gig in a pub. Great old stuff by The Jam and The Clash, with some new covers of peeps like The Editors. They rocked. Then headed back to my friend's and had a wonderful mushroom risotto cooked for me, whilst we downed more vino and watched The Bourne Supremacy again. Great day, and really good to get away from work for a bit.

    ....

    How about you, my friend.
    Good weekend?

Yeah, I had a good weekend, I guess. A surprising and complicated weekend, but that's a topic for a different time. Women! :p

I've listened to "Sheila" and it's very good. I will try to get said album.

Ohh, mushroom risotto. Excellent. Once again, I see you're a man with good taste.
