Good sir, you have now just gone and ruined the prequel trilogy for me* by proposing such an awesomely superior idea. [face_not_talking]

    * At least, you would have done, had it not already been ruined long, long before now. :p

Who knows, perhaps Maul is the "new Vader" of the Sequel Trilogy :D ... not the main bad guy, but the main bad guy's enforcer throughout the trilogy.

It is still unclear just how Maul survived his defeat on Naboo.

Perhaps Plagueis secretly established a Force-connection with Maul even though he loved his own physical body (he'd like to have a Plan B, just in case his body did fail, just in case he changed his opinion on valuing his body over his life), then erased his meeting with Maul from Maul's mind. Used Maul as a host body after Palpatine's betrayal, repaired Maul's body enough and then left it to find a more suitable host as he mind-wiped Maul once more. The whole experience of being possessed by and then splitting from the ghost of Plagueis, as well as unnaturally surviving death and all of the mind wipes, being the reasons why Maul's mind broke. Maul eventually survives the Clone Wars, impressing Plagueis, who then calls Maul back to him to prepare.

In Episode VII, Plagueis sends Maul out to attack the NewRepublic/GalacticAlliance, using not only an army of Sith minions but also recruited Mandalorians... one young Mandalorian finds an order his Sith overlord gives to be too gruesome and not worth what they're fighting for, and kills that Sith overlord, defecting and joining with Han and Chewie, and reveals the location of the Secret Sith Base... the Jedi and NewRepublic/Galactic Alliance have fighters to attack a battle space station in orbit over a planet with the Secret Sith Base, led by Ben and Vestara, Han/Chewie and the rebel Mandalorian in the MF drop off Luke and Leia on the planet's surface to infiltrate the base... at one point, Luke and Leia split up, with Leia serving as a distraction so Luke can face the true master without his minions... Leia takes on a dozen Sith warriors and wins, as Luke infiltrates the lair to learn the true master isn't Maul but Darth Plagueis... Plagueis reveals that he lured Luke Skywalker into a trap, knowing eventually one of the honorable Mandalorians would betray him, all to reveal himself and the true power of the dark side to Luke Skywalker... Maul emerges to fight Leia, they are evenly matched... Ben learns that the weakness in the Sith Battle Station was a fake, he's captured, Vestara freaks out but isn't captured... Plagueis reveals the origin of the Skywalker bloodline... the ghost of Anakin Skywalker appears to a red-haired teenage princess sitting by her mother's white throne on a faraway, sunny world, urging her to__... Maul severely injures Leia and is about to strike her down when Han appears and shoots Maul's hand, Han is Force-choked, but then the Mando takes on Maul using cables and flamethrowers, injuring Maul but is still about to be defeated, when Chewbacca appears and literally rips-off one of Maul's cyborg legs, causing Maul to flee, but Mandalorian disintegrates Maul until he's a charred skeleton, then Han/Chewie/Mandalorian carry dying Leia onto the Falcon... Plagueis uses the Force to make Luke hallucinate and visibly relive the worst times of his life (death of the Lars, revelation of Vader, sending Anakin Solo to his doom, the death of Mara at Jacen's hand, beheading Lumiya)... then Plagueis reveals he has a very real Ben, and cuts his son Ben in half in front of him, with Luke feeling his death in the Force, but then Plagueis using the dark side to resurrect and heal his son and letting both of them go to spread the news of his power... Luke carries unconscious Ben to the Falcon, Chewie pilots while Luke and Han try to heal Leia, with Luke tempting to use the dark side to do so after seeing what Plagueis did to Ben but refusing the temptation... the Falcon is under attack from Sith fighters, with the space battle still going on, and their fleet blocked in the system as Sith cruisers have flown in, the Mando guy wakes Ben (not knowing what he's been through) and the two of them man the turrets to fight off the Sith fighters, and then Princess Allana surprisingly arrives with her Hapan Dragon Fleet, allowing the Jedi and NR/GA Fleet and MF to escape... Leia survives, but has to be placed into a white life-support suit that's similar to her father's but without the mask... Vestara is relieved to see Ben alive, and Ben is now friends with the Mandalorian guy his age, who reveals he is Kol Fett, the grandson that Boba Fett never knew he had... Jaina and Jag urge the Imperial Remnant leader to help the Jedi and the NR/GA face this new Sith threat but he refuses, saying the Empire will remain neutral, free from the Sith and the Jedi... Plagueis is shown resurrecting Maul, one a starship overlooking the galaxy, creepily laughing, assured of their coming victory

In Episode VIII, Kol Fett and Ben Skywalker have become good friends throughout the war (Ben has grown distant from Vestara), helping the NR/GA win the Battle over Corellia early in the movie, while Leia faces down Sith on the surface as the "White Knight" who all Sith minions fear and call "Lady Vader"... Maul and his Sith & Mandalorian army hasn't been as successful at invading the galaxy as he liked, especially with Luke and Leia leading the Jedi forces, so Plagueis travels to Korriban and persuades Krayt to join him as another disciple, and then secretly resurrects someone to emotionally torment the Skywalkers...Plagueis has Krayt turn Vestara back to the dark side and seduce Ben, promising her that then Vestara will one day have Ben alive and hers forever, and Vestara becomes pregnant with Ben's child (to be raised and eventually possessed by Plagueis)... Maul and Krayt attack Coruscant, which is gassed so nothing but Vong life will be able to live on it for years.... a masked and highly-trained criminal leader who's been gradually but very quietly rising in power in the underworld for decades helps Luke and Ben and Jaina to infiltrate Plagueis's flagship... when they reach the throneroom Plagueis is joined by Krayt and Maul but then reveals who he resurrected: Caedus... and as Luke/Ben/Jaina battle Maul/Krayt/Caedus, the underworld leader unmasks himself to Plagueis to reveal he's Palpatine, alive and young again, proving that he really did master his master's knowledge, ready to take down his old master... but then Plagueis uses the Force to make Palpatine hallucinate and visibly relive the worst times of his life (including killing his family, and his death at Vader's hand), tormenting Palpatine, making him realize that Palpatine only succeeded when he followed Plagueis' plan, that once he became Emperor and diverged from his master's plan is when it all began to fall apart for him, saying that Palpatine fools himself by thinking he's a savior or has any redeeming qualities at all, that he knows the real Palpatine, a savage murderer, who only succeeds when following his master's orders, mentally breaking Palpatine and forcing him to submit and become one of his disciples again... Caedus tries to convince Jaina to join them, that they can learn Plagueis' secret and bring back their brother, and all who the Sith killed, that their goal will bring paradise so it's ok to use any means to get there, she refuses, and he tells her to flee and reveal his resurrection to his daughter... Luke/Ben are disarmed by Maul/Krayt and brought to kneel before Plagueis, with unmasked and young Palpatine now at this old master's side again, Plagueis says he will kill them now but resurrect them after he's achieved total victory, Luke says that day will never come and he's at peace wit death, Plagueis begins tormenting with Force lightning as Luke and Ben remain composed enough to recite the Jedi Code, Caedus walks into the room (without Jaina), Palpatine tells his master to stop zapping Luke and Ben... Palpatine then calmly walks up to Luke and Ben, and lights two lightsabers through their hearts, instantly killing them, and they both disappear leaving their robes behind... Plagueis is angry and asks why, they were his kills, but Palpatine says he knows the Skywalkers better than anyone, and offers two lessons to Plagueis (1) don't gloat to them, just kill them, you never know when one of their friends might appear at the last second, and (2) never turn your back on a Skywalker, especially when you're torturing and killing another, with Palpatine then eyeing Caedus suspiciously... Caedus defending himself saying he is loyal, that Plagueis brought him back to life, and that it was Palpatine who was trying to kill Plagueis a few moments ago and nearly did a few decades ago... as Caedus and Palpatine clash lightsabers, Jaina appears, and in a quick sneak attacks she cuts Plagueis in half vertically but then Plagueis's body creepily recombines (only slightly annoyed, saying "I told you that you couldn't kill me") and then Caedus convinces Plagueis (despite Palpatine's objections) to interrogate and possibly turn Jaina instead of killing her, which Plagueis agrees to with a sinister smile

In Episode IX, after Kol Fett breaks Jaina out of prison, the Imperial Remnant goes to a ceremony to sign a Treaty and formally join Plagueis' Sith Empire, with Lord Maul representing the Sith for Darth Plagueis, only for the Imperials to betray them with Imperial leader and Jag Fel saying the Empire will never again be ruled by the Sith, as the Red Guards at the treaty signing ceremony are revealed to be the first Imperial Jedi (Jaina among and leading them), Maul killing the Imperial leader and Chewbacca, Leia the White Knight appearing and killing Maul, and the Imperials choosing Jag Fel to become their new leader and first Emperor since Palpatine and Jaina their Empress as a giant middle finger to Plagueis and his Sith... Plagueis prepares to travel to the hidden but most powerful Force nexus in the galaxy, on Tatooine, now secured due to Palpatine's underworld connections, to tap into its immense power and end the war... but the Jedi, Imperials, Hapans, and remnants of the NR/GA are tipped off by a redeemed Jacen Solo, who died in Allana's arms with this news, and the heroes prepare for the epic Battle of Tatooine... Kol Fett also suspects Vestara and her 4-year-old son, Ben's son, will accompany Plagueis to Tatooine, and vows to rescue him... hundreds of Jedi clash lightsabers with hundreds of Sith… Leia dies fighting Palpatine... Han is in the space battle above, with an empty copilot seat, wishing he had the Force to see Leia again, but then Leia's ghost does appear to him, looking like she did when they first met, saying the Force has always been with him and “I love you,” and as the Millennium Falcon explodes he smiles and says “I know”... Kol Fett faces Vestara, to rescue the son she named Cade, and it almost seems she allows herself to be killed, as if to spare her son from what Plagueis has planned... Jaina approaches the nexus but has to face Krayt...
at the nexus, Plagueis plans to tap into it for incredible power, but Palpatine begins to fight him, and they both begin to tap into it while fighting one another... Krayt and Jaina can feel and see the titanic battle between Palpatine and Plagueis in the distance, Krayt flees afraid the disturbance in the Force could engulf and destroy them all, Jaina lets him go and presses on to the Sith Lords… Palpatine and Plagueis become like savage animals, and no longer need lightsabers in their struggle, Jaina sees that the dark side is now controlling them, from overusing the dark side and deluded into thinking they were the ones in control, their fight is tainting the Force nexus and it is echoing their violent struggle and madness throughout the entire Force, with even normal people across the galaxy able to feel it.. the ghosts of Anakin Skywalker and Luke Skywalker appear, saying the more Palpatine and Plagueis use the dark side to fight each other near the nexus, the more the dark side is using the Force nexus to feed on them, and soon both will be totally absorbed into the dark side, allowing the dark side itself to take sentient form… Anakin reveals he created the Force nexus when he first gave in to the dark side (which reawakened the spirit of Qui-gon Jinn and could be felt as far away as Coruscant by Yoda), that this is where his mother died, and the presence of Palpatine, Plagueis, Jaina herself, and so many Force-users near the nexus is just multiplying its power and further corrupting it… Plagueis is calling fire and lightning down from the sky, about to finish Palpatine for good, when he evaporates into it completely, yet the storm continues to strengthen… Jaina urges Palpatine to help her purify the Force nexus, but he attacks her both frightened and wild with rage, Jaina draws on the light to defend herself from Palpatine and calm the storm, but she’s not strong enough on her own… then she surrenders to the will of the Force, is able to knock out Palpatine before he’s absorbed, but still the Force storm grows, having already absorbed Plagueis, and it looks as if the will of the Force itself may fail against its dark side… Palpatine reawakens, seeing one being of light about to be overwhelmed by the massive storm of darkness, transfixed at first, but then finally understands, Palpatine throws himself to be dissolved into the storm since he created it and was still causing it, so Jaina may live, seeing it is the will of the Force…

the nexus is purified, and the triumph of the light side is felt by everyone in the galaxy through the Force, and the remaining Sith army throws down their lightsabers and surrender in bewilderment and awe... Jag finds Jaina, who can see the spirits of her family smiling at her… days later, during the victory parade in Mos Espa, Emperor Jag and Empress Jaina are being formally crowned and declaring the new Empire will be at peace with the NewRepublic/GalacticAlliance and following the will of the Force, to actively bring justice to the galaxy, beginning with ending slavery on Tatooine… Kol Fett with the young Cade Skywalker asleep in his arms, approaches Princess Allana, saying that he holds in his arms the son of Ben Skywalker and grandson of Luke Skywalker, the last of that line, and that he should be returned to Jaina, the last relative he still has… Allana then reveals to Kol Fett that she too is a Skywalker, that Jacen Solo was her father, and her mother hid her heritage from the galaxy to protect her… Allana then says that even with her Skywalker heritage hidden, she still has a grave burden, which she wish she could give up but accepts as her responsibility, something that Jaina now has as well, but not something this young Skywalker has to have… she urges Kol Fett to take him “away from all the politics and wars” and raise the child someplace peaceful , with the galaxy never knowing a descendant of Luke Skywalker still exists… that if the Force wills, he may one day be called to reveal himself as a Skywalker and accept the burden of his heritage, but until then he should grow up like any other kids in the galaxy… Kol Fett reluctantly accepts, saying he thinks he knows of a peaceful world where he can raise the child, and Allana promises to tell everyone else that both Kol Fett and Ben’s child died in the battle, and she looks on with tears and a smile as Kol walks away, to never see them again but happy at the life of freedom that Cade will now have …

Kol is seen getting off a transport ship on Naboo, and is walking through the gardens on the courtyard, when young 4-year-old Cade begins to run away, out of sight… the ghost of Ben Skywalker seems to appear for a second in one direction, Kol turns the corner and sees young red-haired Cade talking to an old lady sitting by a fountain… the old lady seems very happy, and tells him to go back to his father… Kol and the old lady begin to talk, and the old lady says her daughter always used to run off on her in this garden, when she was young, and that she never knew where she hid, nearly giving the old lady a heart attack, but when she was ready the daughter would come back to her at this fountain… the old lady then gets sad and nostalgic, saying her daughter grew up and left this world and died many years ago, yet she still comes to the fountain, dreaming that her daughter would come back to her at the fountain again… young Cade says “I found you,” and the old lady answers and says “that’s right, you did” with a bittersweet smile… Kol asked how the old lady’s daughter died, and she points to a statue of a young Queen of Naboo across the courtyard, saying her daughter “was Padme Amidala, a brave Queen and idealistic Senator who served Naboo long ago, she died at the end of the Clone Wars, but I never believed the official story that she was killed by the Jedi, and I never knew who…” the old lady cries, “she was pregnant when she died, and I never even knew who the father was! She was preparing to retire and come home, with her husband, she was tired of the politics and the plotting and the wars, and wanted her child to grow up happy and away from all that”… the old lady, Jobal Naberrie, continues “then she died, her child with her, and her husband never came… all I know is that he made *this* for her, and she was going to be buried with it, but I couldn’t bear to part with it for some reason,” the old lady shows she’s holding the Japor snippet, “and here I am, still coming to this fountain, still hoping she’ll walk down from the sky, and find me again...”, little Cade hugs hers, and the old lady cries “My husband, my daughters, my granddaughters, even my great-grandchildren, they’re all gone now, yet I’m still here.”… Kol replies that it must be the will of the Force, she must still be here for a reason, and picks up Cade and is about to walk away… “Wait…you’re war refugees, aren’t you?”… Kol nods, introducing himself as Kol Antilles from New Alderaan and Cade as his adopted son, saying they were on their way to live in the refugee neighborhood the Gungans had built under the lake at the edge of Theed… “You know, I never disturbed the Lake Retreat home, where my daughter Padme used to live, even the room she was preparing for her baby is untouched, unused this entire time…” she glances warmly at Cade, “I feel now as if you were meant to have it…”… they’re refugees, Kol replies, and he has no money to repay Jobal… “It’s my gift”…

Jobal Naberrie takes Kol and little Cade to the Lake Retreat House, shows them around, gives little 4-year-old red-haired Cade the Jappor snippet to wear, then leaves them be… Cade is placed onto the bed in the room that Padme had prepared for her and Anakin’s baby so long ago, and Cade tells Kol that he can see ghosts all around him, and they’re all so happy to see him come home, at last.

wait, what am I doing, what thread is this? :p

Oh yeah... anyways, as you can see, Maul could definitely work as a secondary villain in the ST, and the Clone Wars TV show setting this up

Huh....looks like her story is coming to a climax soon. Or at least her story is going to go somewhere, and I think it will help explain why she isn't in episode three.

I wonder who those guys with the masks and yellow lightsabers were. They look interesting. Jedi Shadows maybe?

Looking at the episode titles, it looks like the Arc about Anakin and Scipio got cut. Well, can't say I was looking forward to that anyway....still, this chapter shows some action at Cato Nemodia. I wonder how that fits in this arc.
EDIT: Well, looking at the previews at StarWars.com, this is nothing more than one of those opening battles that don't matter much. Shame...when are we going to have an air or space battle as the main focus again....

Music reminds me of Mass Effect for some reason...

So I guess we're gonna get at least small preview of 1313 in these episodes. Wonder where the idea came from, the game or the show. [face_thinking]

I'm at work and can't see the trailer yet - is it an explicit 1313 tie-in, or is that just an assumption?

What was up with those very Imperial looking buildings? That one fortress in particular was very ominous, with Star Destroyers over head and that big Imperial symbol. Plus all those red flags and what not.

It's definitely the same sort of "developed sinkhole" as seen in the 1313 trailers. No explicit mention yet, I don't think. But it definitely has the same look and feel.

Wow... while I'm sure it's a different facility (a Republic courtroom of sorts), my favorite thing about the trailer is what seems to be VERY clear homages to the imperial palace. Red Guards, Tarkin, Coruscant Guards everywhere... Kato Neimoidia, Imperial like Thrones... Talk of removal of the Jedi from the military...

And yeah, Republic Military logo everywhere. Not exactly subtle imagery, is it?

We're getting closer and closer to the end. If I didn't know better I'd actually say this was the final arc. I really doubt they'll keep this going more than another 2 seasons. At least not as a "Clone Wars" show...

I want more Ki-Adi-Mundi. I still remember with much fondness the original CWAS that showed Ki and a group of Jedi taking on Grevious. For you younger folks, this was back during a time when Grevious wasn't a total chump and a joke of a character. He was actually evil and ominous at the time.

Anyways, I always loved Ki-Adi-Mundi's heroic battle against Grevious on Hypori. He fought hard, expected to die, but accepted it as a Jedi should. Obviously he was saved, but I loved the way Ki-Adi-Mundi just kept fighting.

Was just re-playing TIE earlier in the week (it's a yearly ritual). :)

And urgh -- whoever recorded that video was using adlib sound. ughhhhh. Gotta use General MIDI at the very least, though the game sounds best with Gravis. Where's the resonance and the grandeur? Adlib makes it sound like some lame arcade game.
