Trevorrow tweeted out to Brad Bird that he will be waiting in line with him to see the movie so who the hell really knows at this point.

SW isn't going to do time travel. It's not GL's style.I just don't see it.

Too bad the models didn't inspire better acting direction.

Man, we are a bunch of soothsayers and backseat producers here, aren't we?

That makes absolutely no sense. Nice dismissal of reality, though.

Time travel in Star Wars sounds really weird to me :) But hey...maybe they can make it work.

It means I want a director who knows how to direct actors, not a debate on the visual styles of the OT & PT.

See, some people think that just having more models automatically means a better movie.

I was replying to the post about the visual style, not acting.

Honestly, I want a director who thinks and says that the PT is bad. Because they are objectively deeply flawed films that betray deep misunderstanding of narrative and dramatics. Any director who thinks they are "like totally awesome" is deeply suspect as a storyteller.

"Flawed" is not the same as "horse****". Most blockbusters I've seen display some of the issues the PT had (or more) but don't seem to get the same criticism.

That said, 90% of the problems with the PT stem from the scripts - even Lucas himself admits he hates writing (I still don't understand why he didn't go get more help). Now we have a professional writer working on an original story that's not confined by the existing movies the way PT.

By the way, even the official Safety Not Guaranteed trailer mentions Star Wars - not joking, check it out -

Trevorrow hinted yesterday on twitter that he's not going to direct it either. Disney probably rejected him.

If he's a guy who doesn't respect—or understand—50% of the existing movies, I don't want to see him direct. I also suspect that most of the target audience of these movies, i.e., 10 to 14 year-olds, don't necessarily want to see the style of the OT copied.

Of course, what the style would be would depend on the setting and story, so I'm sure that Lucas and Kennedy are able to make an informed choice.

Well it's not him then - he just tweeted this -

“@colintrevorrow: To clarify, there is another film we all love that I'm currently trying not to mess up. Odds I will direct Episode VII: 3720 to 1.”

I never thought Disney would trust a guy like him to do it.

Yup, you can cross Colin Trevorrow off the list.

Not to mention, it's practically impossible. Too much time passed, too many advancements with CGI and digital technology.

    [face_dancing][face_dancing][face_dancing][face_dancing]

Maybe one day he'll be worthy but...he's got a ways to go.

Edit: Hmmm, I remember posting a while back that all his equivocating might be pure self-promotion, and look, how many more people know who this guy is due to this rumor?
