On-Station: Comm & Briefing Room

Anders had to supress a groan at the mention of military intelligence. Despite his years in his chosen profession he still found the two words to be mutually exclusive terms. Especially when it came to the subject of the Intelligence branch itself. All too often their data was faulty, based on guesses and asumptions of those who had never seen the front lines. He knew better than to believe half of what MI had to say. It was always figuring out which half to believe that was the trick though.

"Keep an eye on them, but let them prove themselves. If we treat them with distrust, they will turn traitor."

He nodded as he heard the Captain's last statement. Ander's knew he had to be alert for any signs of disloyalty, but at the same time he didn't want to start acting like some sort of secret police. Other factions had fought for such a system, and it was one that struck Anders as too Coney like for his taste. He would keep his eyes out as the Captain ordered, but he knew his primary mission was to safe guard the team on their missions.

    "Any other concerns, Major?"

Anders thought that one over for a moment. "Just issues of chain of command sir." He almost didn't want to bring this issue up. If it was left unclear he could interpret things the way he would like to and deal with the consequences later. If it was clarified for him than he would have no choice but to follow orders. Sometimes it was better to ask forgiveness than permission. But as he thought it over, it was something that had to be brought up, to avoid confusion while on their "hunt"

"This seems to be primarily a civilian project with a bit of military protection thrown in on the side. Who is in charge when we go off world?"

Ran's smile widened as Antilles described his ability to knock together a still. "Well, my good man, it sounds like you're just the fellow to have handy in a tight spot."

Morgue, then, was talking about getting on with things, and he (pardon the pun) sobered. "Yes, what exactly did you have in mind for us here, Lieutenant? It'll take me a while to unpack my library from the ship into my living quarters, so perhaps we might move on to the task at hand?"

He gave Morgue a very loong and hard look. Give her some room. Okay. she had given him room in the past. So maybe there was a time for everything, as the old Corellians said.

"You got your freedom to play, but don´t think I´ll risk my neck once more for . . . strangers, okay? We are to recover stuff. Are we?" With a nod he showed her it was okay. Even between them had always been professionalism when on job. Except on Drallus. He had ordered her to leave him behind and she had not cared and saved him anyway. And she had killed 23 men that day. 23. More than he had killed in his life, even if you did count Rakatan´s.

Ran actually sobered up and started talking business. "Our ship will be ready within the hour if it needs to. So I think the question is . . . what do you guys got, hm?"
Lisander looked at the officer, who wassuddenly besieged by eager men who wanted to go to work. And with a nod to Ran he agreed. More than a nod he would not allow the Professor to have.

The older one also agreed to food, and soon they found themselves escorted, after a brief apology of the outdated system maps, out of their orange confines into an even brighter expanse which made her glad for her tinted eye-protectors. Without them she was certain she would be either squinting, following blindly, or seriously contemplating breaking some light fixtures.

"Over there," their guide said, pointing out the hatched marked CAFETERIA in yellow lettering. ?Thank you.? She calmly stated and quickly headed to enter the indicated room. Truthfully she also wanted to ask who had decided on the unfriendly harsh color scheme, but that was something she would rather others put forth. . .at least before she remedied her previous forgoing of a proper meal.

    Cafeteria

Carek followed the small entourage of people to the directed way of the cafeteria. After he passed by their rooms once again, he felt a little twinge of red building up in his cheeks. Stupidity was not something that usually happened to him, and when it did, he usually didn?t like to face up to the fact. Some kind of mental complex that had to do with pride or something. That was what Cay the physiologist had told him. But Cay the friend told him that it didn?t really matter. Cay confused him often.

Once they came upon the cafeteria sign, the chirpy lieutenant pointed it out. He didn?t want to say anything, but she was a little Captain Obvious-like. He ignored it, entering the large room and looking around. He noticed a chef, and decided to go ahead and place his order.

?Ah,? he thought about it for a second, ?could I have some spice loaf, mounder potato rice, and a slice of air cake on the side.? He pointed to his stomach as he had done to the lieutenant. ?Been eating on some canned foods the past few days. Need a little pick me up food.?

Carek glanced over to his side, at the woman he had followed in the beginning. He grinned as he put his hands in his pockets, waiting.

?Um. . .Hi. My name?s Carek Thorn.? He put out his hand. ?I like the way you stood up to the pilot of our freighter back in the hallway. You have guts. Wish I had some.?

Lieutenant Rigel looked like he was torn between laughter and appalled curiosity (and alarm, when Morgue seemed to turn on him for no good reason). Turning the observatory into a distillery had evidently not been what he had in mind.

As earlier, though, he recovered swiftly. "Captain Ferrault will explain it all in the briefing," he said briskly. "We've got a few promising leads for you to check out - and no, it won't be your job to risk your necks. There will be security personnel covering your backs out in the field. This way, please -"

And he led them back out into the maze of corridors.

Perhaps to Anders' surprise, Captain Ferrault sighed. "Whoever is assigned to the task. I don't anticipate needing more than one or two members of the security team on a team at once. Our directions are to split up to cover more ground." Perhaps anticipating a protest, he continued, "I understand it's not what you're used to - it's not what I'm used to, either - but as you so succinctly noted, this is a civilian project with some military protection thrown in. We will simply have to adapt."

He checked his chrono. "It's nearly time for the all-hands briefing. Stick around, Anders. You should meet the people you've signed on to protect."

    ACT 1: THE HUNT BEGINS[/blockquote]Everyone
    On-Station: Comm & Briefing Room

The comm and briefing room to which they had all been summoned had probably once been impressive. It was large enough to comfortably fit twenty or thirty beings around a holoprojector in the central dais, the comm suite was extensive and sophisticated, and the flatscreen mounted on the far wall was as tall as an adult Selonian. Once upon a time, this had been a state-of-the-art war room.

Right now, though, the flatscreen was a bit scratched, the surfaces hadn?t been buffed in years, many of the overhead lights were blown or dim, and the holoprojector had been replaced by a handmade scale model of the Corellian System with little bits of coloured paper stuck to it.

Nonetheless, the tall middle-aged human man standing in front of the group had the sort of look that demanded respect despite the less-than-stellar facilities. He had the serious, stern bearing of a career soldier, and wore the uniform and insignia of a Captain. Behind him were three lieutenants: a grim-looking Selonian and two humans, a man and a woman. (Various members of the group would recognise them as Vanya, Rigel, and Destyan.) Hovering at the back near the flatscreen was a nervous-looking youngster whom Gareg and the others who had visited the cafeteria would recognise as Fenor.

?Welcome to the project.? The Captain stood in the middle of the briefing room, in front of the group. He was a tall, broad-shouldered, middle-aged man with the build and bearing of a career soldier. ?I am Captain Ferrault, officer in charge of this space station.

?I won?t insult you by rehashing our mission. You all know why we?re here; you?ve all been chosen because you?re the best in your respective fields, and you know what to do. It will be my job to make sure you all have the support to do your jobs. So.?

He turned. Fenor hit a control; data blossomed onto the flatscreen, pictures and descriptive text both. ?These are the leads we have so far ...?

    [image=http://sites.google.com/site/xanify/files/corellia_dig_1.jpg]

?This was taken on Tralus, years ago. The settlement pictured no longer exists: it was blown up in the early stages of the Freedom Wars, and then we discovered a secret Rakatan base hidden underneath it.? Ferrault smiled grimly. ?Thankfully, our people didn?t have time to trash the place. It?s possible some technology remains.?

    [image=http://sites.google.com/site/xanify/files/corellia_dig_2.png]

?This flatpic was taken on Corellia, two weeks ago. It?s a Rakatan ship that crash-landed in the middle of nowhere who knows how long ago, went completely undiscovered until some kids stumbled upon it. It?s a good bet for intact tech - only problem is, it?s neck-deep in New Corellian territory. Getting in and out will be a problem.?

    [image=http://sites.google.com/site/xanify/files/corellia_dig_3.jpg]

?This is on Selonia, in one of the surface mines that were the last to fall in the wars. One of our agents found it; unfortunately, her transmission was cut off before she could tell us where exactly, so we only have her last known location to search from. It?s not a dangerous location, but - well, something took out our agent.?

Ferrault turned back to the assembled group. ?We have a few other leads, but these are the best we have so far,? he said again. ?I defer to your expertise -? here he nodded at Lisander Olic, Morgue, Ran Ringhaven and Eryk Graf ?- in determining how best to pursue them. Some are in rather inaccessible locations, but that is why our team includes several personnel with e

The historian rubbed his jaw. The stubble didn't seem to have lengthened in the past hour or so. "That looks like Cadelmin," he said, pointing at the first flatscreen and its high, panel-like structure that dominated the landscape. "I think I've some material on it right here on the station. It's been a while since anyone from the Coronelli School looked into it. You're right, that image would be hopelessly out of date; if I remember right the resistance blew it up because it housed a communications array to the outer parts of the system, though I'd need access to the Navy's intel archives before I could be sure," he added with a penetrating glance at the military types in the room. "Of course, I'd like a closer look at that place even more. But..."

He turned to Eryk and the two treasure hunters. "...it seems to me if we're looking to perform in-depth analysis on each of these three sites, we're one historian or archaeologist short. Rakatan technology wasn't my prime field of study, so it feels to me the most intact-looking sites should be the subject of analysis by someone who knows the coneheads best. It stands to reason you'd find more about a ship system in situ on a Rakatan vessel. So, and it's just me thinking out loud of course, perhaps Signor Graf should take a look at the crashed vessel at site two," he added, pointing at the flatscreen. He leaned closer to the image. "Signor, can you tell anything from that image about the type of Rakatan vessel it is? It looks like there's a compromised canopy that only has one seat - did the Rakatans build single-seater FTL craft? If they didn't, then obviously it doesn't make much sense to go looking for the sort of technology we're seeking there."

TAG: HanSolo29, Xan, rest of the people present

OOC: Signor is just something of my invention, since I don't know if there's a "professor" sort of rank out here, only a few years after the Freedom Wars are over. I just call it a sort of form of address that Ringhaven's been taught at his university to use with other academics or historians, as Eryk is. FTL, of course, is "faster than light", since I don't think (by definition) the Corellians have discovered hyperspace on their own.

    Lisander Olic
    Briefing Room, Station

Lisander stayed near Morgue. More to protect the officers around here from any more aggression from her side. She was impatient at times, even cruel. And she was deadly and that meant . . . he preferred to keep one to two eyes on her once they were "on job". But the leads were pretty good. After all, finally . . . these people had done something that he could not have done alone. Quite the contrary. For any of those three he would have paid a fortune on the market.

"I am not unimpressed." He mumbled to himself and leaned forward. The lead he had to follow up was so painfully obvious. Looking at Morgue he sighed. "You know, you promised me to get out of those mines for a while. Right? Selonia had us too long Lissy. Let´s get out there and do something new! Remember? That were your words." With a sigh he turned up to the Captain. One for the team and Selonia here I come! Again!

The Professor´s began discussing the crashed ship. Certainly little value for his skills there, also he would have loved to get his hands on one of them. But Selonia was the obvious choice.

"Sir, my partner and I spend a few month in one of those Selonian mines recently. I think we know them quite well by now so that seems to be a perfect fit for us." He sighed once more and smiled. "And those others look a lot more dangerous. So I think Morgue will be able to provide security for us. If someone wants to lend us an extra-hand that is fine by me, though. The job might involve digging and carrying whatever we find to the surface and that can be a pain for only two people. Our ship has a lot of extra-space for guests."

Lisander was all business now. Games were over, from here on he had a job to do. And a reputation as the best to defend against all others.

Yeah, indeed. she had promised a change from selonian mines and that had probably sold the whole thing to both of them. After all mines had been profitable so far, right?

"Sorry." She smirked and folded her arms, nodding. "Security I can provide, indeed." It was all she added. Lisander made the business decisions. He was the man with the sense for money.

turning her head she listened to the academics. That ship made her ucrious. But she also her reasons to listen to everything regarding that project. Knowledge was a value in itself. the more secret things were, the more valuable. So her father told her.

So, Gareg thought, this was a representative sample of his future coworkers, eh? Well, it was said that success was an often an overrated phenomenon. Or somebody said that. He wasn't sure who, but statistically speaking...

He reckoned there was probably some kind of societal obligation that dictated he ought to introduce himself to the others.

But nuts to that, he was starving. "You've sold me," he replied to Fenor, following him over to the counter. "Pietr, was it? Could I get a spiceloaf and a glass of... ... wait, blast... um, a glass of water, I guess? Please and all that. Call me when it's done."

He strolled back over to where the other... um... to where the others were. Two of them were talking - interruptions were generally considered a faux pas, so he settled on the other human. He looked a bit scatterbrained - well, as scatterbrained as a pink skin could look. "Um... hello. I suspect we'll be working together in the future - name's Gareg of Clan Hrog. Never say the last bit again, ever. Pleasure to make your acquaintance, Mr...?"

What an odd thing to remember at a time like this, Gareg thought, snapping back to the present just in time to be asked which location he wouldn't be going to he would prefer to be going to. Life was funny like that.

Humans, being fond of their own voices, opted to speak first. What a shock. For his next act, marvel at the fact that stars shine and ignorant hicks destroy things they don't understand. For the finale, perhaps a glass of water will prove miraculously hydrating.

One pink-skin was asking another pink-skin for their opinion while another pink-skin was asking yet another pink-skin for their opinion. He was beginning to notice a pattern here.

    Nuts to that.

"I vote for that really dangerous one," Gareg said, raising the volume of his voice. "That'd be Corellia, yeah? I like it. Looks homey in a not at all like my home sort of way. Plus you said yourself it's a good bet for intact equipment, which should be our only real priority."

    Calcin
    Lucifer Station: Briefing Room

Calcin had followed to the cafeteria, gotten a cup of caf, and generally kept to herself. Caf particularly good. Marvelous, really. Noticed Youngest thought so, too. Strange, though. Why so young, and away from den? Carries herself differently than Younger, myself. Skittish? But that was the past. Now the meeting had started, the leads revealed. All promising.

As the Scholars began to discuss, Calcin weighed the options in her head. Tralus: trail cold. Settlement gone. Buried ruins? Possible. Underground? Likely. Corellia: dangerous. New Corellians hateful, good reasons, but take too far. Masters evil, not tool. What does tool do on its own? Sits, and rusts. Still, not to be taken likely. Selonia: mines. Selonian interference? Probable. Dens nearby, conflict, unstable? Unknown... mines. No mines. Tralus, Corellia. Buried tech, captured tech. Buried. Digging. ... ... Corellia.

Calcin finished her thought process right as Drall spoke up. "I vote for that really dangerous one. That'd be Corellia, yeah? I like it. Looks homey in a not at all like my home sort of way. Plus you said yourself it's a good bet for intact equipment, which should be our only real priority." Good time to make intentions known, now that Corellia was on the table. "Will accompany Drall," she said, sitting up straight. "May be dangerous, as he said. Can provide... security, as Treasure Hunter put it."

"Marissa. I am called Mariisa." The Selonian finally replied with her whiskers twitching. Graf did not have as much experience with her species as he would have liked, but he was fairly certain that her gesture signified annoyance. The smile wiped from his face at the revelation and he studied her curiously for a moment or two, being careful to choose his next words.

"Marissa," he repeated, allowing the syllables to roll off his tongue slowly. "A pleasure to meet you."

"Have you tried their stimcaff? It is quite good."

Graf lowered his gaze and noticed the mug clenched within Marissa's powerful grip. It certainly had an interesting aroma and he wasn't sure whether that was good or bad. Still, he managed to stay polite. "No, I haven't, but perhaps I'll take your word for it and give it a try." He smiled nervously as he pushed away from the table and rose to his feet.

"So, have much chance to explore the station yet, or did you just arrive as well?"

"The extent of my 'exploring' consisted of finding the cafeteria. Can't do much else without having some food in my stomach, I'm afraid."

    IC: Eryk Graf
    On-Station, Briefing Room

The briefing was certainly insightful and with each bit of information the captain revealed, Graf found himself becoming more and more impatient. This is exactly what he had wanted - it was a literal treasure trove of Rakata history just waiting to be discovered.

And Graf was greedy...greedy for it all. The others had no idea what they were dealing with, much less, possess any real knowledge or experience on how to handle it. Especially those treasure hunters. All they cared about was working for the highest bidder and bringing back fame and fortune. Uncovering history didn't work that way and very few understood it. Only Graf did...and perhaps Ringhaven, if past experience was any indication.

"Signor, can you tell anything from that image about the type of Rakatan vessel it is?" Ringhaven was saying, indicating the image of a crashed ship on site two. If they didn't, then obviously it doesn't make much sense to go looking for the sort of technology we're seeking there."

Graf removed his hat and rubbed at his forehead as he studied the image. "The image itself is pretty grainy and it lacks the detail required to make a firm analysis, but from what I can tell, it appears to be a skipship." He paused and tilted his head in the other direction to try and get a better look and maybe even to confirm what he was saying. "They came in all shapes and sizes and were among their most popular craft, so it's quite possible they designed them to seat only one Rakata...or perhaps...hmm..."

He leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees and squinted his eyes as he tried to get a clearer picture. "Maybe it wasn't even meant for a living being...it could be quite possible that it was a droid, as crazy as it sounds. Perhaps this particular ship was not meant to come in contact with an advanced civilization."

    Cafeteria - Briefing Room

Carek, after speaking to the other woman and munching on his scrumptious food. . .well, mostly scrumptious. The meat was a tad bit too undercooked for his liking, and having dealt with so much blood during the war, he felt a little sick to his stomach. But he found it obnoxiously inconsiderate to gag and/or throw up the chef?s cooking. He probably wouldn?t take a liking to it.

Afterwards, he learned that they were to all meet. So he found the room, and made his way to his position. Examining all of those around him, he only vaguely listened to the captain?s greetings. He noticed female lieutenant, who stood up there alongside the captain.

After watching all of the slides go by, and listening to all of the different options, Carek stayed quiet for a few seconds. He wanted to see who picked which places in the beginning, and then he would decide. A man and a woman, a team in itself, picked the ?Selonia mission?, which happened to be the exact one he had been considering. And, he found himself a little curious that the agent had went missing. Kind of creepy. . .but with the viciously charming woman and her partner along for the ride, he knew that he would be safe.

?I?d like to join the two of you on the Selonia mission,? He leaned out from his spot, looking directly at the woman and man, ?If you don?t mind.?

    Ran Ringhaven
    Comm Station Briefing

"...perhaps one of their scout vessels?" said Ran, thinking he was echoing a hypothesis Eryk wasn't prepared to make as yet. He'd moved, almost unconsciously, over next to the archaeologist and was also peering at the image. "That would certainly fit with the single-seat configuration. A droid pilot (and I agree with you, it sounds crazy) would also fit that analysis. And it's been out there untouched a long time -- I know the image's grainy, but that looks to be rust on the outer rim, and there's plant life close to it. It could even be one of their original vessels, from when they first penetrated the Corellian system -- ahead of the occupation!"

He was thinking at this point not so much of the Rakatan technology as such but the historical data that might -- just might -- be found inside the vessel's databanks. The Rakatan occupation had erased so much detail of Corellian society prior to their arrival that just about any source of information would probably fill in gaps somewhere. He calmed himself down, though, and turned to Eryk.

"Well, put it this way, I'm certainly not going to stand in your way if you want to check out either site. It just strikes me that we should go and check out all three sites at once if we can, and you seemed to be the natural choice for that second site. I think I'll probably be of more use at the first site, so unless you had a difficulty with it..."

"The extent of my 'exploring' consisted of finding the cafeteria. Can't do much else without having some food in my stomach, I'm afraid." Mariisa smiled at that comment.

"Ah. I understand. Then may you enjoy your meal. Im too nervous to eat just yet." Marissa scratched at her whiskers, and then gave a soft laugh. "Nice to meet you Eryk Graf."

Marissa quickly downed her stimcaff. And wiggled her nose. Oh yes, this was good stuff. But why did her whiskers twitch? She rubbed her nose. She all but literally bounced over to fill her thermos with some more of the delicious stuff. She also noted some others of her kind there as well. She ventured quick eye contact before playing with her cup once more. She was then told of the meeting they all had to attend.

Already?! She gave a sigh. She would eat something that was looked like a vegetable, before going to the meeting, if nothing else but to settle her stomach. Now, perhaps, she would find out what it was they were there to do. That sounded exciting!

After Eryk left to enjoy his meal, Marissa reached into her pouch, and pulled out her main tiny droid. He gave a few soft peeps. She nodded.

    "Humans are strange."

    On-Station: Comm & Briefing Room

Meetings are hard to set in. Especially with so many serious looking people in the room. Mariisa noted them.

The tall middle-aged human man standing in front of the group had the sort of look that demanded respect despite the less-than-stellar facilities. A grim-looking Selonian and two humans, a man and a woman. And hovering at the back near the flatscreen was a nervous-looking young person.. Fenor.

?Welcome to the project.? The Captain stood in the middle of the briefing room, in front of the group. ?I am Captain Ferrault, officer in charge of this space station." Yep yep. He was the one putting her to work soon as she got here. After looking around, she could see why.

?I won?t insult you by rehashing our mission. You all know why we?re here; you?ve all been chosen because you?re the best in your respective fields, and you know what to do. It will be my job to make sure you all have the support to do your jobs. So.?

That caused Mariisa to grin. She liked that.

?These are the leads we have so far ...?

Showed 3 places. First one on Talus. Possible buried site, that used to be underneath a long gone settlement. Secret Rakatan base. Second one, Rakatan ship in New Corellian territory. Pretty intact. Trouble getting in and out of. Last on on Selonia. In mines. Looked like an entire ship too.

Pair of humans voted for Selonia.

Drall voted for Corellian. As he put it.. "I vote for that really dangerous one. That'd be Corellia, yeah? I like it. Plus you said yourself it's a good bet for intact equipment, which should be our only real priority." That made sense, actually. Then one of the older Selonians spoke up. "Will accompany Drall," she said, "May be dangerous, as he said. Can provide... security, as Treasure Hunter put it."

    '...'

The more 'scholar' types seemed to be hovering, the 2nd and 3rd but particularly the site on Corellia. And Mariisa did NOT want to go digging back on Selonia. That is why she had left. And a bit of prodding (literally) by her pouch poking at her, she finally chimed in.

"Site two, seems to be the most sure site for intact technology. Since I work Co

One of the young men wanted to join him. Turning his head Lisander immediately saw he was no fighter. But that was fine with him. He did not need official guns on his ships if he could avoid it. Maybe a scientist of sorts, Lisander thought. Certainly no mechanic or otherwise hand-working man. Well, this was a team-game, so Lisander would have to play with the team. "Sure." He nodded and turned to morgue to get her silent consent. "Lisander, this is Morgue. What is you line of profession?" He extended his hand to the man.

    On-Station: Comm & Briefing Room

Anders was indeed caught off guard by the news that the group that had assembled on the station were to be spread out into seperate teams. He was about to argue that the groups could be better protected if they all stayed together but Captain Ferrault cut him off. "I understand it's not what you're used to - it's not what I'm used to, either - but as you so succinctly noted, this is a civilian project with some military protection thrown in. We will simply have to adapt."

So he dropped his portest before it even began. these were decisions being made well above his pay grade, and above that of his commanding officer as well. He may not like them, but he couldn't argue with the orders to create several teams. He supposed it made sense in a way. More teams, more ground they could cover. Less catastrophic to the mission goals should a team be compromised.

Still he now wished that there were more members to add to each security team.

    ---

    On-Station: Comm & Briefing Room
    After the group briefing.

Anders had sat quietly through the briefing, the technical details of each site and their potential rewards meant little to him beyond his mission of securing the technological gains for the CAF. He decided to let those whose areas of expertise it was to ascertain which sites would be the most beneficial to that mission. Privately he figured he would be of the most use at one of the first two potential mission sites. The third site seemed to have their security situation well in hand.

He bristled a bit at Ringhaven's unspoken criticism of military tactics during the war. War was an unsavory business, and a war against a far more technologically advanced enemy even more so. The freedom fighters had used any number of morally questionable tactics during the wars, but sometimes the ends justified the means. And fighting for the cause of freedom was ceratinly one of those times. He listened to Graf and Rinhaven's discussion of the downed craft and voiced his own opinion of the crash site.

"Even if that Coney ship doesn't have any kind of FTL drive, the ship might still be worth a look." He looked now to Captain Ferrault. "You know as well as I sir, that the Coney weapons technology was also far more advanced than out own. Shields that could shrug off several missile strikes. Blaster cannon that could fire more than twice without overheating and blowing up. Plus their sublight engines could run circles around our stuff. All of that is technology that could also be of use to the CAF. Besides that ship is behind New Corellian lines, if the Norks get their hands on it, whatever technology it does hold will be lost forever."

IC: Davos Reemus - Comm and Briefing Room - Lucifer Station

Davos entered the briefing room and saw the assembled beings all awaiting their possible assignments. Davos scanned the area and saw that the room was much like the facility in terms of how it was maintained. He took a seat and looked at the screens with the photos of an old building and two ship wrecks. Beside the screens there was another military officer who Davos assumed was going to give the briefing. Davos looked around the room again at all the faces and did not notice anyone in particular. He wondered whether any of these beings were working for the ones that contacted him on his room's comm device. There was no way of knowing that but Davos could usually weigh some one with a few looks of their behavior and fewer words from their mouths.

Finally the military officer in front of the room started to address the crowd. "Welcome to the project. I am Captain Ferrault, officer in charge of this space station. I won?t insult you by rehashing our mission. You all know why we?re here; you?ve all been chosen because you?re the best in your respective fields, and you know what to do. It will be my job to make sure you all have the support to do your jobs. So these are the leads we have so far ...?

After going over the briefings Davos considered them all and for some reason the settlement in the first brief looked oddly familiar to him. He had never been to Tralus but suddenly he had an urge to go see this underground settlement. Maybe it was the fact that during the wars he had been apart of underground networks and was always impressed with what could be achieved when beings were motivated. It seemed like the type of place where many secrets could be hidden, many sins, dead, and buried. Davos wanted to know, needed to.

It seemed that only one member of the team shared his sentiment though as others seemed to like the ship that was downed in the Selonian mines and the other downed ship on Corellia. Major Anders gave a long speech on the Corellian ship and brought up valid points on the location and danger level of it. Davos still did not think of this all as a treasure hunt for tech anymore as some seamed to think. After that call in his quarters everything had changed for him and his gut told him that he needed to see that underground facility.

Davos was short and to the point with his reply.?I would like to be on the mission to investigate site one as well.? He shot a quick glance and nodded his head at the person who also had opted for the first site. Judging by what he had said he did not seem too interested in the third brief, and since the other historian/archeologist had taken site two, he was the default for site one in his own opinion. This suited Davos fine. Now to see how all the rest would decide.

    Location: Cafeteria, the good frontier

Entering the Caf, she soon found stim-caf, or rather another Selonian that seemed to be hyped up on the stuff. It was something she never partook of herself, it could she had heard lead to unsteady hands. Not enough to impede use, but to a sniper a slight shake was the difference between killing a target or warning it that someone was trying to kill it.

Heading over to the food line she grabbed a bottle of water, and filled a dish with something called nerf that was an unusual black color along with a few uncooked vegetables. Taking a seat a table over from another occupant she set about trying to see if the black stuff was edible.

    Location: Briefing room

What she wouldn?t give for a room full of stiffs at a time like this. Instead she leaned back and just waited for all the talking to be over with. It looked like someone was interested in all three sites, and someone had volunteered to go already to all three sites, and what was more surprising was that people that had come over with her were volunteering for different assignments. How in the five worlds did they ever win their independence if everyone got to vote what tasks they wanted to do?

Shaking her head she felt she finally had to say something if for the mere fact that all the other Selonians appeared to already be going with this crazy flow. Leaning forward she spoke up, ?Send me where I am needed.? She stated staring at the Captain and then the Major to gauge their reactions. It was all she had to say on the matter.

Leaning back she got comfortable and waited to see where she would be sent once all the unnatural talking about desires was done.

"Sure. Lisander, this is Morgue. What is you line of profession?"

Carek accepted his handshake, smiling at both of them. The woman named Morgue happened to be fairly pretty. She had an earthy beauty to her that he found fairly comforting. Though he could sense something beneath her that made him know that she could reach over and snap his neck in a second, if she needed to. He remembered to be especially nice to her.

?Well, for the past few years, I?ve been a medic. But, I?m able to help in many other ways than just healing. I can promise to be more of an asset than a pain.? He met the man?s eyes. ?Carek, by the way. Nice to meet the both of you.?

GM Note: So I'm sure by now you're all aware the JC may be moving sometime in the next few weeks. (If you're not, details are here.)

What does this mean for C:RS - well, not much. I plan to keep going until whenever we have to stop, and then we'll most likely have a short in-game-universe minigame on the temp boards (or wherever) and then, after the move, we'll pick up where we left off. Easy. :D

Captain Ferrault had remained silent, listening and nodding along as one by one the assembled beings voiced their thoughts. Behind him, the three lieutenants were similarly paying close attention, and Fenor was quietly scribbling notes on a pad of flimsi.

When the discussion died down, Ferrault nodded once more to himself and spoke up.

"Good. Very good." He prodded the model of the system, and the planets swung around in orbit until Selonia was in front of him. "In that case, Olic, you and Morgue will investigate the Selonia site. Thorn will be your backup, and Antilles, you'll go with them as well. Your experience as a starship engineer may be useful; that ship looks to be an awkward position, and you may have to end up cutting into it."

He spun the model around until his finger rested on Corellia. Fenor winced and opened his mouth as if about to say something, but then thought better of it and remained silent. The Captain continued, "Graf will take the Corellia site. I agree Mariisa's expertise may be useful here; you'll go as well. Anders and Calcin will run security - and as this will be dangerous, you'd best accompany them too, Sacorr.

"Which leaves Tralus. Ringhaven, that'll be your site. Reemus can provide backup, and take Lundi along with you; you may need his expertise if any machinery remains. Zahara will fly you there."

Those paying attention might notice he had not mentioned Gareg. He turned his gaze on the Drall now, and it was slightly more pointed than usual. "Gareg, as we have already discussed, will remain on-station to coordinate our efforts and to continue investigating the remaining leads."

Ferrault clapsed his hands behind his back. "Fenor will forward all the information we have to the terminals in your quarters - and to your ships," he added, with a nod at Lisander and Morgue. Rigel had passed on their preference, then. "If there are no questions, please make your preparations. You may leave the station at your discretion."

    Lyle Zahara
    On Station, Briefing Room

While the other experts voiced their opinions, Lyle had sat back and paid only half attention to the briefing. It wasn't exactly the role of the pilot to voice where they should try and conduct archaeological discoveries; he was just the guy that flew the experts to it. His opinion hardly mattered.

Though if he was to be completely honest with himself - and no one would find any surprise in it -, but Lyle secretly desired that he would be sent onto whichever team went to Corellia to investigate the Rakata ship. Now if Lyle wanted to find tech that could lead to better Corellian starships, then that site was mostly obviously the better pick. Just to think about, picking over the remains, perhaps scavenging a power converter or even an entire sublight drive that was ten times better then anything that the Corellian could make during these times... That almost did break Lyle's silence but, again, he doubted his opinion would matter and it may draw unwanted suspicions towards him.

Nonetheless, he was vastly disappointed when he was assigned to the team that wasn't heading to Corellia but, rather, the site on Tralus. Oh well, he still had some chances of finding Rakata starship parts that he could perhaps procure for his own purposes. He had the important duty to fly these people afterall, right? Well, a pilot needed a good ship and that rust bucket had a long way to go to being a good ship. It could use all the help it could get.

And at least I'm not going anywhere that has the higher chance of armed resistance, Lyle thought, remembering that while he would love the idea of investigating the Rakata ship, it was surrounded by New Corellian territory. Definitely not the best place to be.

"Well, I guess that settles it then," Lyle spoke, standing up from his seat before stretching. He jerked his head to the right and the left with a couple pairs of audible pops as he worked the joints there. "I'll start making the preparations and a full flight check for my ship and those assigned to me can file in at your leisure."

Full flight check. Right. He doubted his rust bucket would pass it. Instead he would try in vain to hope that half the systems will pass the checklist, that the other half are components that he could ignore, and that during the flight he won't have to worry about the good half breaking down and joining the bad half.

Oh please let there be something I can scavenge from Tralus. If not, going to have to crawl around the innards of it when I get back and see what I can patch up.

Interesting. Well, sounded as if their party was complete. Mariisa looked around, to those who would be going to the same area that she was. The Captain spoke one more time. "If there are no questions, please make your preparations. You may leave the station at your discretion."

So, if she had her names right, Eryk Graf, Ric Anders, Calcin, and Sacorr were all going to Corellia. It sounded like it was going to be fun! She had only met Graf in meal area. But she had only seen the others. Guess she would find out soon enough how they were like. What to take?! Oh...everything. Since she had no idea what she might need. Of course, first they would have to reach the ship. It would be interesting to hear how they planned to do that. Or exactly where this ship was located. Mariisa sat back, carefully thinking of what programs she might need. Oh, there was so much to plan. More info would be at her quarters. Yes, this was definitely exciting. Mariisa wiggled her nose in excitement, and rubbed her whiskers as she planned, and waited to see if there would be any talks before they all got together ...

She didnt even know what ship yet. She supposed, that would all be discussed soon.

Maybe by then, her whiskers would stop twitching.

"Splendid," said Ran, rubbing his hands together with a smile. "In that case I'll probably not need to offload much of my gear at all, since most of it amounts to history texts. I'd rather have them with me on the ship than back here where I can't get them."

He clapped Eryk on the shoulder as he moved away from the flatscreens, moving across to Lisander and Morgue. "Well, here we go," he said. "I meant to tell you good luck. Do try and bring some of those materials back in one piece, won't you? Oh, and make sure you both get back in one piece yourselves," he said, then abruptly closed his mouth as if he'd blurted out something he hadn't meant to say. He covered it with clearing his throat and looking around somewhat awkwardly. "Yes, well."
