jp - why do you think the team that bats first won't score many runs? (i.e. if Australia does :p)

I have a feeling that the bowlers will dominate the opening innings. Nerves will play a big part for the batsmen. A low(ish) first innings score will be posted, and the opening-batting team will lose some confidence which will carry through to their bowling.

I think Aussie will win comfortably whether they bat first or second.

Yes, I agree. It was night time, and they kept bringing them back on.

I was laying on the couch from when the match finally started to when the coverage ended after Australia had lifted high the Cup.

Can't say I saw the entire match though. Man I was tired.

Gilchrist's innings was spectacular, though. The entire performance. I also liked the comment made at the end - about how nobody even came close to beating the Aussies throughout the whole of the tournament.

    :D :D :D Australia :D :D :D

    Gilchrist... What a legendary knock!!

McGrath... What a Legend full stop!!

Australia... One big bunch of Legends!!!

I fell asleep after the Australian innings, but saw the highlights of the rest on the news today, whats up with bringing Sri Lanka back on in that darkness??

A shame that the game's biggest tournament ended on a farcical note.

Still, by far the best team won and they probably beat the second best team in the final, so the result was a fair one.

Damnit, but I can't tell if you're sarcastic or not. :(

Now that the cricket's out of the way, who's going to win the rugby WC?

congrats to Australia. i never really thought they'd lose. far, far greater than any other side in the world. they'd comfortably win against an all world side, i'd say. amazing innings from Gilchrist. too bad about the umpires at the end. weiners.

as for the Rugby, the All Blacks will not lose this time. :-D

    I hope you're right.

But the AB's have been favourite to win the WC for 20 year and haven't won it for 20 years. Watch out for the Boks. Many of their top players are looking very good in the Super 14.
