Discussion Director: check. What major news are you next looking forward to?

Rough production schedule? Casting news? In-universe timeline? Basic story themes?

For me, it's who's scoring. I know this is probably not the next thing we'll actually find out (score doesn't need to begin work until next year), but finding out will actually complete my idea of what to expect in terms of continuity with the previous films. JW is getting on in years, and I realize that with JJ on board, Giacchino is a likely favorite. I think if it's not Williams, however, there will be a certain lack of familiarity in the music, no matter how Williams-like the composer may be and how many of and how often he/she uses previous themes.

 

For me it would be the basic plot. Who are the main heroes? Are the original actors returning? Who is fighting who? Where will this take place? Does anybody struggle with evil? Ect ect. I have way too many questions when it comes to plot lol!

 

Yeah, a basic plot indicator. Like why was balance to the force not restored?

Then maybe casting/crew updates. Trisha Biggar? Ben Burtt? John Williams? etc

 

The official announcement of the release date. I expect to know by May at the latest.

 

I need some casting news and maybe an idea who the new main hero is. Oh and the villain. I want a villain who is soo wonderful that I may or may not start rooting for him/her because its hard not to root for epic people.

 

Which EU characters will be appearing, if any.

 

Next thing I expect is just an idea of on what continent they are filming. Sounds silly, but really have no idea where they're basing the production.

The next thing I would like is a sit down of some sorts with JJ, expressing his basic ideas, intents, and passions. An introduction of sorts. A short message on the official site would do. This has been the best part of having Filoni steer the ship over the last few years.

What I want next: Some basic plot points or minor casting news.

What I think we'll get: Location scouting or that the scrip is finished.

 

Whether or not Mark Hamill is returning is an even bigger piece of news than the announcement of the director.

Yes, there would be a major difference between an Episode VII directed by JJ Abrams vs. Episode VII directed by Matthew Vauhgn.

But for me - whether or not Hamill is returning as Luke Skywalker remains the biggest question.

Easy #1, are the big 3 in? Nothing is even close to that, but second, the rest of the cast, who are the new actors, who else is returning from the OT, etc.

I don't even want any spoilers about the plot, who the villain is (i.e. Sith, Dark Jedi, etc.), etc. I want to find that out in the theater.

 

What I get excited about:

• Cast announcements (Main and Sub Characters)
• Music Makers
• Shooting Locations
• Release dates for movie, trailers, etc.
• Behind the Scenes stuff that isn't too revealing.

What I am not excited about:

• This movie being spoiled by tons of pictures, videos, drones, etc.
• Spoilers about plot details, special hidden characters, etc.
• BTS stuff that is TOO revealing.

I plan on evacuating the boards once this movie shooting starts. Episode III got FUBAR for me, because like a week or two prior the pics of Anakin's burnt body got out on the web. I was so angry at myself for looking at it.
This is definitely not something I want to spoil for myself, being it is the biggest sequel EVER for me.

 

Confirmation that Super Star Wars Episode VII is coming to SNES.

 

I forgot to mention the Mad Magazine parody of E7. And maybe, just maybe, Seth will do a Family Guy parody if it's worth it.

 

As long as I get my Battlefront 3 featuring Episode 7 characters.

I agree that the announcement of the big three's return would be a huge event, much bigger than the identity of the director. That is an announcement I can't wait for.

 

I'm hoping to learn release date and whether the big OT actors will be returning or not. I'd like them to address the fate of the EU, but I think they'll hold off on talking about that for awhile.

Sorry to say it, but you are in for a disappointment.

 

I don't get why everyone seems to consider the EU a single mass that you must respect. It isn't, it isn't even treated that way by it's authors. Just look at how many 'take that' moments are in the Thrawn Duology where he makes fun of stuff like the Reborn Emperor and various stupid things Luke does. I don't expect it to be respected, I expect it to be strip mined, sifted for jewels, and the vast majority ignored or thrown away.

I will be anxiously awaiting casting information along with character names... I'm not so concerned about the plot or any of that, just... who we'll be following for the next three movies.
