maybe, but that might actually be a good thing. the eu is way too cluttered as it is, so much so that its no longer coherent as a narrative. and theyve done like 5 batman reboots and it's only gotten better.

no, the real benefit, as i see it, is that it will finally bring purists and completists together as star wars fans. after all, how will the new movies be any more authentic and 'canon' than any eu stuff, before or since?

not to mention lucas himself pointed out the novels and such as possible source material for future disney stuff. would i still see a thrawn movie if it was re-booted? would you? i think we know what the answer is.

    Overcast with HEAVY EXPLOSIONS!

I see what you mean. I would definitelly go and see the fav admiral on the big screen. But its more of an overal continuity that I'm concerned about. SW has quite a broad EU, in one of the interviews R.A. Salvatore said it was quite challenging writing in these severely controlled, timeline/canon-restricive conditions. So if all of that has been built and preserved for so long, it wouldn't really work for one canon, a film canon, to simply override all else...

I would really like to see some flyboys and girls being accented (or however you say it) on the big screen. That would be interesting.

Very interesting. It also explains the continual special editions of Star Wars - Lucas is an editor. Wow.

An interesting view, I want to read that Making of book now.
It makes sense, considering Lucas' choices. He is a visionary in a broad sense, but he does seem to have difficulties putting that into workable film scenes without aid.

And I do agree that this move was the 'saving' of Star Wars. No matter how big and corporate Disney may be, they are pretty much the only ones that could protect the brand that is SW. It seemed to have pumped the new blood into the system - which is great cause it means the fandom isn't dying. The last few days were this odd excitement burst and I can't shake off this nostalgic feeling like it's 2004 again, I'm still on my dial-up, grasping for any bit of Ep III news on a very different Internet than the one at present.

However, all that being jolly, I'm still concerned for my precious EU and the continuity, though...
