Probably a slow news day.

 

Not necessarily Stupidity on ESPN's part but it does involve it.

Well, it is sort of ESPN Stupidity, since the radio station is an ESPN affiliate.

It's really pathetic (and I hate to say it, because I love Around The Horn and PTI) that this hasn't been discussed yet on air, because if a commentator on another network had made those comments, ESPN would be all over that story.

 

I caught a brief segment on SportsCenter where they released a statement by Parker in regards to the RGIII comments.

 

Only a brief segment? Figures.

 

Better than I thought it ultimately would be given that he said the remarks on First Take on Thursday.

 

Only 30 days?

 

Their probably hoping either everybody's forgotten about it by then or Parker decides to resign by then.

 

So there were coaching hirings, GMs being fired, games to be analyzed, and what does ESPN focus on? Kobe Bryant joining Twitter.

 

You brought it up in the NBA thread yesterday, so you can't honestly be complaining about it.

 

I only mentioned it yesterday because I figured the board's #1 Laker fan would be interested to know it.

 

Fair enough.

 

Still, that gets top billing? Sad.

On another note, Tim Tebow's name got brought up on First Take this morning. I'm kind of over the Tebow worship from Skip Bayless at this point, but it is kind of fun to see Stephen A Smith go postal almost the second Tebow's name is dropped on that show.

 

Thoughts on Keith Olberman possibly returning to ESPN? I enjoyed the Dan and Keith years on SportsCenter as much as anyone, but I think they'd be idiots to bring that Grade A jerk and windbag back at this point. Smacks of desperation on his part to me.

 

Olbermann is definitely a windbag, and can be insufferable at times... however, I very much enjoyed his Countdown program (when it was both on MSNBC & Current TV), and am a fan of his baseball blog. Thusly, I would love for him to be back on ESPN.
