First Meeting

Well, yesterday's initial meeting of the Tulsa Star Wars FanForce was a success. I would like for there to have been more people, but we should grow over the next couple of months. There were several people that were unable to attend due to prior obligations, family, and whatnot. No big deal. We all totally understand that, and we look forward to having those individuals attend in the future. We can't all be there all of the time, myself included.

Mainly as a meet-n-greet, We discussed some fo the things we would like to see this club evolve into, as well as some of our own special Star Wars experiences. So far, we have some wonderfully talented people, whether they know it or not. All it takes is a love of Star Wars, and the rest is magic.

While the next few weeks are going to be fairly busy for most Star Wars aficianados (sp?), I would like to try to schedule another meeting before the 16th of May, but after the SW Celebration II concludes in Indy. I will let you know the further details within the next week or so.

Don't forget, April 25th is Star Wars night at Tulsa Driller Stadium. Several members of the 501st Stormtrooper Legion will be onhand in armor to escort our own Mike, who will be pitching the first pitch of the game as Darth Vader. I am still working the ticket issue with Drillers Corporate Sales division. I have a meeting with them this next week at the stadium to finalize the plans.

Also, May 17-18-19 is the SciFi Expo's Star Wars Show in Plano, TX. Celebrating 25 years of Star Wars and the release of Episode II: Attack of the Clones, this will be a great chance for the fans to meet many Star Wars celebrities. For more infor on this show, go to www.scifiexpo.com/may2002.html. Also, down the road from the convention center is one of the few theaters in the nation with a DIGITAL PROJECTION THEATER SYSTEM! I would like to plan a group showing of the film in this terrific new format, so make sure you bring some popcorn money!
If anyone wants to carpool/convoy down there, let me know and we'll work out the details. Expect a several members of the 501st to attend this show as well.

I agree, it was fun. I too hope others will show up, so I can pick everyone's brains!

 

I'm new to this forum though not to the boards. I would have liked to have made it to the meeting, but my schedule wouldn't allow it. Hopefully, I can get to the next one.
