Definance is excellent. A well deserved nomination. I've only heard Frost/Nixon once. Nothing special that I noticed during that one listen, but I could have missed something. I've heard very good things about Benjamin Button.

Anyone actually catch a viewing of Slumdog Millionaire? I had to catch it in Chicago when I was up there for Thanksgiving. Well worth seeing and suitably being considered for Best Picture... as for score, I did download a couple of tracks and enjoy them. Worthy of a Golden Globe? Not really. I've always had a problem with the general concept of slapping a score nod on the Best Picture candidates, anyway. There are good ones out there, sure, but it happens too often and makes the decisions seem really lazy.

And then again, here's the chick that's currently jamming out to Quantum of Solace without end. :p

I'm eager to hear Frost/Nixon and Defiance in the near future, though.

Benjamin Button is a fantastic score. It definitely deserves the win.

Is it just me, or is it weird/frustrating that all five scores are from movies that either have yet to be released or have only been out for the last month or so? It just makes the folks in charge seem like they have very short memories.

So I listened to Defiance and I have to say it sounds like a poor mans Schindler's List. It's not horrible, but nothing stellar.

I can easily guess that Changeling has a one or two note theme that my grandmother could play with her left butt cheek.

I wonder if Frost/Nixon is any good...

I got the chance to see Frost/Nixon last night. It's alright (the music that is, the movie is excellent). Certainly nothing special. It seems obvious to me now that I've heard it both in and out of the film that it was nominated because of the movie, not the music. I'm sure the case is the same for Changeling.

Yeah, the music for Changeling was crap. Think the lameness of Million Dollar Baby mixed in with some saxophones here and there. Clint Eastwood should not be allowed to score his own movies.

Also, has anybody heard Slumdog Millionaire? I've never even heard of the movie, much less the music.
