Bing, NY Invite: Family Fun Day in Vestal - Nov 8th

I received a call this morning from a gentleman who got my contact info from the Binghamton Senators...

He invited the 501st to a Family Fun Day that's taking place on Sat, November 8th from 10am-4pm at Ross Corners Christian Academy.

It will be an indoor event with games, a chicken BBQ and hopefully - Star Wars characters.

Obviously given the location, we'd love to have you guys come out to this event too.

I will pass the information along and we'll make sure we have enough members interest. I'm assuming there will be some people coming from Rochester for this event, correct?

 

I'm not sure yet who will be attending as I just started the planning thread on Friday.
Excelsior is already committed to an event that day in Rochester, so I am hoping to hear from 501st members elsewhere if they will be able to head to Vestal.

If I may be so bold: If no one from the 501st can be there, then maybe the event should be handed over to the Binghamton FanForce to handle. It would be much easier and we're right in the area to coordinate said event.

 

The 501st do have right of first refusal since they were the ones that received the invite.
If no one replies in a few more days and CORE has people interested, then turning over the event was my plan.

Is Excelsior the name of the 501st group in New York?

Yep..all of Western Ny is a Garrison of the 501st called Excelsior.
Tho they don't 'own' anything, there are specific rules Garrisons are instructed to follow to help things attempt to move along more...smoothly.

 

Yes, Garrison Excelsior is the 501st chapter for all of New York state (except the dangly bit).
The map on our site is the easiest way to see what territories Garrison Excelsior covers.

Not yet, I was planning to give Excelsior members through this weekend before detemining next steps.

Not any more.
I just turned it over to Bob yesterday as we didn't have any 501st chime in that they'd be able to volunteer.

While this event sounds fun, Tom and I will be at the Children's Book Festival in Rochester on this Saturday (also indoors and 5 minutes down the street from us). Have fun.
