the song sweet child of mine by guns n roses? i can't comprehend how it would be... anyone care to shed some light on this phenomenon?

 

People disliking something that you happen to enjoy/like? Shocking! Surely, this has never happened before during humanity's existence on this planet.

As with everything GnR did, it was a much better version of what the crappy hair metal bands were putting out.
For a hard rock ballad (one of the worst sub-genres of all time) it's pretty damn good.

What SLG and Harpuah said. Axl Rose's voice just reaches that perfect point where listening to him makes you envy the deaf. There's nothing wrong with the guitar work, but the screeching car tires voicework has to go. VLM's video demonstrates this rather aptly.

And the same goes for Aerosmith. Steven Tyler makes me want to gouge out my eardrums with a blunt butter knife.
