funny that this thread was upped, i've wasted a good portion of the day on this site.

I know several people with commemorative tattoos, where while they like the design, the reason they have it is what it means to them. I don't see how that becomes invalid.

 

It's lame, people. Lame trumps valid.

 

I got the tattoo I have for reasons that matter to me. Whether someone else approves of said reasons or not means not a thing to me.

Rather simple.

Someone locked my thread, despite it not a post about a "tattoo showoff." I'm convinced mods just love demonstrating that they have power. But, here's the post.

I was doing a Google search for something entirely unrelated and I found this.

The thread eventually was locked, so I figured I'd post a follow up.

That was over 4 years ago that I got that tattoo and I don't regret it in the slightest. It's small, fun, silly, and it reminds me of a particular time in my life. Oh, and I still love Star Wars. I'm a college graduate with a degree in filmmaking now, I get fairly consistent work doing videography, I'm directing my first feature film (hoping it'll be out around Halloween, actually), and I have 3 more tattoos since then. One other Star Wars related one that's extremely silly, one very obscure Jaws tattoo, and a Night of the Living Dead tattoo. I'm a filmmaker, I love films, and these are the films that have inspired me since I was a kid. Also, each tattoo is covered by clothes unless I'm at the beach (which I never do, because, well, Jaws really did scare the **** out of me).

Here's the tattoos. They're each spaced out by a year or two. Just thought I'd post this to respond to some of those negative, sometimes uninformed comments. Cheers!

Oh, and wait, commemoration is lame but aesthetics isn't? What are you, an interior decorator? I'm sorry, but to me and anyone else who has things that mean something to them outside of just being pretty, attachment, involvement, and sentiment are more important than it being "pretty."

I want to get a tattoo of the New Jedi Order insignia. It will be my first tattoo, and I am torn about where to get it. I have decided absolutely not on my shoulder. For small-ish and round-ish tattoo, where do you think a good placement would be? I would really appreciate any input at all

 

Ankle, foot, inside of forearm.

 

Ok what about this:
Imagine the hip, but think just a bit more towards the back. Not directly on the side, but sort of in-between near the back, so basically on my "love handle". What do you think? Tacky? Obstructive to later tattoos?

Hey those look like the tattoos that Marilyn Manson got when he was 18. He got his removed though.

 

Ultimately what matters is if it's where you want to get something. The biggest things to think of are is it somewhere you'll be happy to have it in the future and if natural movement/abrasion/etc could damage it.

 

Just sent an email to my tattoo artist about getting a second tattoo while I'm home for Thanksgiving.

Thus begins the obsessive email checking.

 

If I was a girl and a Star Wars and tattoo fan, I'd get Jabba's barge upside down on the inside of one thigh and that other little walk the plank ship with Luke, Han, Chewie, etc., upside down on the inside of the other thigh.

My bride passed away on July 26th of this year. A week later I got this tattoo. The physical pain was actually a relief after a week of mental anguish.

It's positioned so that it can be seen when I'm riding my bike. She would have loved that, I think.

(I look like crap in the photo but it was after a week of very, very little sleep.)
