    hehe yeah I love baby Jaina in that shot ^^

    Oooo that outfit with the shorts is real cute! I had never clicked on the pic before to see how much detail it had, sooo freaking fun looking.

    I keep forgetting technically I could be her when my pilot gear is done. Thanks for those links gals!

    I'm making up a Jaina costume from the NEG to Characters, and here's my question: what kind of fabric do you all use? I picked a linen blend, because it was opaque enough and available in a color that was close, but still had a good drape.

    I also have a pair of chore boots, although they're the wrong color - I can't find my size in brown. I could only find mens' and boys' boots, and since I wear a 6/7 in men's boots, I had to stick with boys', and those were only available in black. (Might look around at a few more stores - I'll use the ones I have, because they're nice when there's minor flooding. [face_plain]) As for her leggings, could a pair of thin sweatpants one size too large work, or should I sew those, too?

    The fabric is really up to you. I didn't want to try hand dyeing so I am using more than one type of fabric. The tabbards are silk while the others are I think some kind of synthetic blend, it's been a while since I got them so I dont remember the exact fabric. The pants I'm making of stretch sateen because I found it in the right color. I think the color is more important than the fabric, though you dont want something that wrinkles while you're wearing it. I would go with thin fabrics though because in the picture they look very flowy/drapey (I dont think those are actual words =D ) So you dont want something that is too stiff.

    I've already put this on AOE but I'll post it here too just in case some of you guys dont read those forums.

    What color do you guys think the food capsules are on Jaina's Japanese cover Refugee costume? I'm thinking two are silver and two are copper. If you enhance the pic it looks like she has them rotating colors from front to back silver, copper, silver, copper. Let me know what you guys think, I want these to be as accurate as possible.

    You may have to really enhance it to see it.

    I used linen, Jaina SoIo used wool...both are good choices but definitely the right color and look is more important than the actual fabric type.

    Sounds like you're a pretty average foot size. 6-7 in mens is about a 8 in womens. There are always boots that work on eBay in that size, riding boots especially. Remember, if it's not the right color you can always have it dyed at a shoe store!

    Sweatpants? Unless these are not the regular sweatpants I'm used to seeing, I would never dream of going with something like that. Pants are super easy to whip up, especially if you go with an elastic waistband. If those sweatpants ARE thin compared to normal sweatpants, and are the correct color....maybe....but I don't think sweatpants are the right look at all for the Essentials outfit. Some cotton, linen or double-over gauze fabric is more along the lines of what it should be.

    Hey :)

    Thought I'd share a couple pics of the Jaina I've been working on.
    [image=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v239/JediDajuan/Costumes/Jaina%20Solo/JainatopwithNeckpart.jpg]

    Based on the Jaina mini and the guide to characters book:

    [image=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v239/JediDajuan/Costumes/Jaina%20Solo/JainaMiniReference1.jpg]

    I'm mainly trying to copy the miniature itself, the colors etc, but the character guide pic has been really helpful getting the details that I care about down. Have a belt on order and am in the process of making some pants.

    Let me know what you think :)

    I'm just getting started on my Jaina/Jag combo. I have planned flight suits for both, a uniform for Jag, and Jaina's red dress from DJ. I have the drawing for the dress, I can't wait! Does anyone know of any reliable resources for Hapan fashions? I want to make sure my red dress design will work.

    I finally have pics of the finished Jaina! I debuted it at Aaron Allston's Outcast signing last week. Sadly few of the kids had any idea who I was, but many of the adults got it. I didn't do a wig because I couldn't find the right color, so I went as a post Myrkr (sp) short haired Jaina. The thing I'm holding is Darth Caedus's arm (someone jokingly told me to make it and carry it with me). Hothie is dressed as Han from RotJ.

    Let me know what you think:

    [image=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v239/JediDajuan/Allston%20Outcast%20Signing/JediJainawithCaedusArm.jpg]

    I ended up making the underbelt a little less wide and slimming down the whole costume from the pictures before. I looked really fat with out the changes. Also in there the belt was way too high for me and it makes me look pregnant. So even though the reference pic/mini has a high belt, I lowered mine. Looked better IMO.

    Thanks!

    Mainly people just asking why I was carrying it around with me and asking what it was. Aaron thought it was really funny though. Bet if I try it at a Con more people would get it.

    Heya!

    I really want to do Jaina's Force Herectic costume for Fan Expo Canada this year and I'd be very happy for any advice. I've got the boots (thank goodness I'm into horseback riding, lol!) but things like what fabrics, patterns, etc. to use is a mystery to me. As well as the belt as I really want it as accurate as possible.

    Thanks!

    When I made a quick version of this costume a couple of years ago, I used McCalls 4664 for the pants. I went with the assumption that the piece under the belt was a band at the top of the pants, such as in this pattern. Alternatively, I think some people have made it as a separate thin obi-like piece.

    I didn't like the pattern I used for the top, so I won't recommend it. ;) If I ever get around to redoing this costume, I'll definitely be looking around for a new tunic/top pattern.

    Good luck!

    Did my first Jaina photoshoot on Saturday! I did the black jumpsuit from the Japanese covers of NJO: Destiny's War, NJO: Force Heretic I - Remnant, and the US cover of LOTF: Invincible. She also wears one in LOTF: Betrayal and LOTF: Tempest so I figured it's enough to make it something that can be associated with her. The pictures were a little different from one source to another so I went with what would be recognizable but still accurate.

    Here are a few of them:
