Yes, for unlike the real Big Brother when someone's voted out we're still able to see what they're doing outside of the real house.

    Tracy:

So far I've found the Epic of Gilgamesh a difficult book to read--not because the words are too complicated (quite the contrary), but because there's so many fragments missing. It bugs me pretty bad, too. The redeeming things about it are its insight into the Sumerian culture, and how something that old is still around.

I guess that's why I'm out here rocking on the horse sized pill and you're still locked in there with Aybabtool and his 80's remix tape. I would have been out this week anyway, given my grand total points score of -5

How exactly is Rhett a tool? And I like 80's remixes, mind you. You're such a silly goose.

It amuses me to no end that DA is obsessed enough with me to continuously mention me, while I can hardly be bothered to even acknowledge his very existence.

It started to look sad and pathetic long ago, like when a 15-year old pimple-faced social leper pines away after the beautiful girl who lives down the street, but she doesn't even know pizza-face exists.

Clearly, NY, it was reasonable for me to respond to him. I simply don't spend much of my time offsite worrying over him.

    Yep, porn.

Jeffffffffffff: If that were true, Jim, we'd have to ban everyone with an ass.

I like the way you think.

It's not the "friendship" that bothers me, Jeff and Tracy. It's the sticky residue it leaves behind.

    In response to this thread:

Our French teacher played a similar trick on one of my friends when we were at the Louvre...by asking him if he'd 'do' this. He said 'hell yeah.' Then he walked him to the other side of the statue, to see this. My friend wasn't happy.

    It's a statue of Hermaphrodite. :)

I remember that statue well. As a kid at the Louvre I found it really strange. On other trips I think I just walked past it and did not really think about it.
As I recall that room has a lot of Diane statues. I don't remember exactly it could be the room next to it. Some of the better statues are over in that area.

In response to the Official NBA 2004-2005 Thread:

Lets not leave out the Pacers first of all. Even if they don't go to the NBA Finals they're going to try for it harder this year and give the Pistons a run for their money. I think they'll come back with a bit more fire under them.

Secondly now with Shaq out of Laker Country and Kobe at the forefront, I think him and Brian Grant could be a great team up together. Though ofcourse being a Pacer fan I would of prefered him traded here to play with his best buddy Jeramine O'Neil. But I'm a bit bisad because I am a Pacer fan after all. GO PACERS!!!!!!

Gah, we're barely into the NFL, though the NBA starts in about 3 weeks, there hasn't been much to talk about.

Anyways, let's start with today's posts:

    Qui_Gon_Jim23 writes...

Had the game not been run so incredibly ineptly, perhaps it might have been worth participating in.

I mean, really, this thing is embarrassing. I can only hope this kills the stupid idea for good.

Someone's bitter. Now, I haven't experienced the pang/sting of being evicted--but really, do either of them deserve that? I think (well, I hope) you (and Rhett) are forgetting that both RMCoy and Dash are indivuals, who have worked their butts off to get this game going, and make it as enjoyable as possible for us and the JC. If you had a problem with the game, you should have taken it up with them through PM, because I get this real icky feeling when I read something dissing this game, and even worse the guys who brought it together. Keep in mind that I do think you're a great guy, Jim. This is just my opinion.

    Siths_Revenge writes...

Yeah. The "tasks" seem boring, and no one bothers to read them anyway.

    Wench.

    Dingo writes...

    Let's see....

Big Brother 1 - Ends on a whimper with the housemates being about the only ones that got all that much out of it.

Big Brother 2 - Faded into obscurity half-way through because the "host" left, and the game was disbanded.

Big Brother 3 - Well, Jim and AYBABTU said most of it. The mix of people in the house promised so much, with the requisite cannon-fodder for the early rounds while the other "housemates" provided the entertaining fireworks. But it got boring around the end of week 2.

If the game is really all that bad, we've still got a long way left to go. I would say the game is still salvagable, don't you think? What would you guys (the JCers) like to see that would improve the game?

Come on, Rev. You seem to be a pretty down to earth guy. You know as well as i do that we'll never improve anything.

Plus one of our jobs to do is bring in our personalities here. Acting for the JC's pure self-sufficient entertainment wasn't exactly what the ones in charge had in mind.

The truth is if they weren't entertian even a smidge they wouldn't be posting about it or reading this board whatsoever. Even if its only a handful. And it is kind of upsetting that Jim had those things to say about the game. I mean we're all in here there are things we as housemates can do to make it fun for us. And thats what we've been doing up to this point at least I have. Just like with my Ask PK thing, it keeps me entertained at least.

Also Seldon has brought up intresting points about things people talk about on the Episode 2 board and how some of those questions that get asked should be banned and the such. Truth is we really shouldn't care how the JC feels about this. If thats why we're doing it, then thats for all the wrong reasons. It should be for fun and enjoyment. I know thats why I'm doing it and I'm enjoying myself. Which is what everyone else should be doing. Its just a game.

"I think (well, I hope) you (and Rhett) are forgetting that both RMCoy and Dash are indivuals, who have worked their butts off to get this game going, and make it as enjoyable as possible for us and the JC."

Have they, Rev? We had no mini-tasks last week at all. No one has bothered to post our points for the task we did have. We got our eviction notices late, and when we did, Dashy arbitrarily evicted two people that had not been nominated for eviction by the people playing the game, as the spirit of the game intended. In fact, he removed Eagle a week earlier than he said he would.

As for working their butts off, what would suggest that to be the case? It certainly isn't Dashy, who admitted outright to me that he doesn't have sufficient time to do this game justice, and that he was arbitrarily redefining the rules to suit his own personal whims. So please show me something to support your contention that the two of them are really trying.

As for the notion that Jim might be "bitter" over being evicted early, is it not true that Dashy subverted the rules of the game? Who is supposed to nominate housemates for eviction, the housemates or Dashy? They built in a mechanism to eliminate the players not particpating. They were to remove the low-point scores on the third and fifth week. They said it publically. Then they removed the low-point score on the fourth week, and then removed an additional player without cause. So why wouldn't the victim of Dashy's mismanagement and arbitrary rule-changing be a little bitter?

It's fine if you want to defend the ineptitude of Dashy and James, but have a legitimate reason for doing it. And be intellectually honest and admit that they completely screwed up last week with their lack of attention to the game and their arbitrary rule-changing that blatantly defied their own statements. That's nothing to compliment, but something to note and condemn.

    AYBABTU
