Need help! Post-Legacy fan novel

    So one day I got this really crazy idea to write a fan-fic post-Legacy era, as I hate researching existing canon to write mid-universe. It's distracting and time-wasting. If I wrote beyond anything existing, I wouldnn't have to worry about adhering to canon. The only idea I have is the names for the main characters, and the first paragraph. Mods, I don't know if I can post it here, so I'll wait for confirmation. But the names are Dorn and Malis, a human couple on the Rakata world of Lehon. Yes, the Rakata are coming back. And I want to somehow involve Hutts and Sith.

    I was wondering what kind of approach I should take on it. Any advice?
