804 Where Her Loyalties Lie


Hmm, I am not sure I know where her loyalties are. There is no definitive answer here.

 

She's evil, her loyalties are to herself.

 

She's either a demon or a devil, so technically her allegiance is to whichever infernal plane she serves.

 

She's a succubus, if you want to know if she's demon or deveil can't you check a Monster Manual?

I'll check mine when I get back home.

 

Succubus'd be demon by 3e, but the three guys hardly strike me as the sorts of Chaotic Evil types who'd rule the infinite abyss.

Reckon Burlew probably combine the lower planes for convenience.

 

I thought they alluded to being a unique combination. The last panel my be the explanation, loyal to Nale, since she spends far too much time being shifty with the imp and the imp apparently sees right through her motivations.

 

No, only one is a Demon. One of the guys is a Devil and the other is a Daemon. Rich says this in the commentary for Don't Split the Party. I forget which is which, but the thing is they all work together, which is kinda scary.

Oh, and OOTS with 4e rules is funny-as. Particularly Roy, and Belkar.

Aww, Belkar. I love that he considers his opposite to be an "ugly boot-shod diplomat".

But I'm somewhat confused by the last but one panel. Did the potion turn Mr. Scruffy into that giant lizard, or what?

 

It's a flashback to the fight between the half-dragon and the lizard guy in the Colosseum. It's showing what Belkar thought of it as being the equivalent of.

 

...Oh. Right.

 

I shall try a prediction. Belkar is at some point going to "draw his last breath ever". I think we shall see some kind of sacrifice on his part but he will go off into the afterlife and deal with a Hell of some sort. Eventually he'll become an outsider/extraplanar creature and still be in the comic.

Ok, I like this idea that Roy becomes an agent of sorts. Quite potentially of course he might assume the role so as to get favor from a very powerful villain to make their situation easier only to try and use him as a tool, even though Roy himself may be the tool.
