I'm THERE! I knew there was some sort of Anime con in Portland... This just proves that I'm not crazy (since I never actually went and looked it up).

I think this would be a GREAT recruitment oppertunity for the Maine fan force. I'm going to look into getting a table. We could hold a raffle like Boston did at Super Mega Fest.

Also, we can get the 501st and Rebel Legion in on it. I'm going to ask some NEG members what the best way about getting a table reserved for free is, and how us 501 and RL members can get hooked up with con passes.

Would anyone be willing to man the table if we got one for fan force? I could obviously do it part of the time... On the day when the 501st is there though (I'm assuming it would be Saturday), I'd be running around with them. We could all take shifts though.

So who else is in? Props to you, Keith, for bringing this to my attention!

 

I am not sure if there will hvae tables for the neg and the rl might be to small but if we can get a small group to raom around passing out flyers and what not but we wil see what develops

Sounds good... I'm going to look into what they have to offer. If they are renting out tables, I think we should pool together for one. I'm also going to find out how the NEG usually goes about presenting themselves to conventions.

They would like both rebels and imp's around and it's ok to pass out hand outs and what not for recruiting and what not

Ok you guys here is the good scoop for portcon,
they would like us to do a presitation of a sort and my ideas is basic costuming and anything you can come up with for fan force. also they asked me for a flyer to be put into the grab bags for the con now to keep cost down I am going to see about one page for all three groups so I need something to work with. and they need 1500 flyers to be printed so what a way to advertise

You don't need to, but of course there might be discounts to buy them in advance. Cons usually offer promotions like that.

Sooo ... what happens at these things? What do i need to go, can I just show up (after buying a pass of course) or do i need some special skills?

Where do you meet all the people? I get that there are tables but what are at the tables?

in other words can someone who has gone already make a very long and winded post for me to read? I would appreciate it. i do not need a hotel room for sure as I am a 30 minute drive if the cops ain't lookin'.
