New Hamp Remembering The Cantina

A while back Z asked me what The Cantina, the Star Wars based in Manchester where the Mandalorians were born, was like. I think to all of us that were there and remember it, it was a place of Star Warsy goodness and a great place to hang out. Anyway, I was sure that I had some pics of it somewhere, and this week I indeed did find them. So here's to The Cantina, the best SW store the universe has ever seen. May we remember it fondly, and hope that some time, some way it will rise again!

Aww, I wish I could have seen that place. Looks like there were a bunch of members back then. When were the pictures taken?

 

That was all the way back in the Spring and Summer of 2003... so long ago now lol

 

Geez, I can't believe it was seven years ago

Time flies! So besides playing with legos and doing arts and crafts, what did the group do back then? Any projects like we are doing now?

 

Nothing big like that, no. We hung out, made toy runs, showed off stuff, watched stuff, and just had some fun. We're a bit more organized now

Great pic's John. I just talked to Rick maybe... 2/3 weeks ago. He said the shop is still all in the same place. A couple things have been move due to some water damage a few years back. But still all the same. I maybe helping him moving some item later this summer in the shop, ebay and Amazon. Try to help him clean out some inventory? We'll see. But he did say to tell everyone HELLO! He'll try to come out and see use all some time.

Wait, he still has his store? Any chance I can get a look at some of the inventory? It would be great to meet one of the older members! (besides you guys)

 

I know when I was talking to him a while ago, Rik told me he was kicking an idea around of doing an 'inventory party'. He mentioned a big BBQ and helping him inventory what was left in the store. I'm sure he'd have no problem with more people showing up

 

That sounds like a good idea.

I need to get a hold of Rik as well and let him know about FCBD. I think he would do very well there if he set up a table. Plus with all the other dealers there... he may beable to work some deals to clean out inventory? Who knows.

So what were your favorite things about the Cantina store?

 

The coolest thing for me was it was the first place I could hang out and talk Star Wars. I had just moved down from Canada at the time when I found out the Cantina was a few minutes walk from the apartment me and the wife was living in. For the first time I had met so many other people interested in SW. Besides, the place was cool, Rik was cool, and everyone that came in seemed to be real friendly

This was where the NH Mandalorians were born, and we would have our monthly meetings here and afterward I would pick up a little something to satisfy my SW cravings
