    Imperial High Command, Coruscant Palace.

"Imperial High Command to Imperial Garrison Commander Corellia" he spoke camly after finally coming to grasp with the situtation. "Corellia Garrison here, We have secured the outer perimeters of the palace and the enemy fleet is still outside the range of our Ground to space weapons." the Ground Commander sounded tense but normal for what had just happened. " Alright I want to send squads into the palace to search and locate anyone in the government or military hiearchy inside, The Palace is an easily defendable fortress, but if the ground to space weapons aren't enough that is an easy target to wipe out, and if you do find any VIPs inside we will need to plan of ways to get them off planet fast, call back along this channel when you have completed your search." He ordered while scrolling thru maps surrounding Coronet City for a good location to setup and hide and defend, to evac anyone of high priority if need be.

Just then a comm unit behind him binged with an incoming message listed High Priority and on his comm channel, "Imperial High Command, Supreme Commander Tur-Mukan." He waited for a response hoping it was good news.

    IC: Lt. Heath Kolarn
    Imperial Palace, Coronet City

All preparations were proceeding as planned, and the palace had been heavily fortified. It would take long months of siege or countless waves of infantry to take it. The only thing left was the bait. But that's what the ISB agents were for. Heath finished reading a report from the Colonel as their speeder landed and five agents stepped out. No... no... no... perfect. Human female, blonde hair, blue eyes, similar height and build. She wouldn't hold up to a close inspection, but if the Vong got that close it was all over anyway. Heath saluted the five agents, then faced the one he had picked out. "What's your name, agent?" "Mariah Cophen," she responded, returning his salute. "Congratulations, Mariah. Your new name is Empress Emiliana Volshe of the New Galactic Empire." Heath handed her a datapad containing his plan and a briefing. "The rest of you are Empress Volshe's security squad. Get her in costume and grab any gear you need, then send a report to Director Pearlsaber. He'll want to know what I'm up to." Reviewing the plan and nodding in approval, the five agents moved off to assume their positions. Everything was falling into place.

Back in the security office, Heath reviewed the key locations throughout the city. Several surface-to-orbit batteries, which must be held at all costs, were surrounded by anti-aircraft guns and heavily protected by ground troops. These would keep the Vong fleet from orbitally bombarding the city, as well as forcing any landing craft to set down well outside the city limits. A direct ground assault with no air support would be very costly for the Vong, but that's what it would take for them to reach the "Empress." The key part of the plan was the deception that Empress Volshe was, in fact, still on Corellia. As soon as the Vong knew the truth the Imperial forces in Coronet City were as good as dead. It was a risky plan, but as good a one as Heath could come up with.

The comm rang, and Heath had one of the techs answer it. He was busy. He quickly regretted that decision, however, as it was the Supreme Commander of the Army on the other end. Heath heard his message, but was too late to answer it. He would have to call him back himself...

Heath removed his helmet and straightened himself out before calling back. He saluted smartly and proceeded to report. "Supreme Commander Tur-Mukan, this is Lt. Heath Kolarn. I have strategic command of ground forces in the Imperial Palace and throughout Coronet City. Currently, our navy is fighting a battle they cannot win. However, based on the enemy's plan of attack, I have surmised they are after the Empress. Sir, the Empress is here, in the Palace." Heath looked his superior dead in the face and hoped he understood what he was trying to convey. Heath had no guarantee that this was a totally secure connection, and secrecy was of the utmost importance. "There is no way we will be able to move her off planet. The Vong fleet is simply too large to evade at this point. As such, we have heavily fortified the Palace and the City, and have set up our defenses in a way to force the Vong into a protracted ground war. As you have said, the main problem is keeping our surface-to-orbit guns online. Without them, Coronet City will surely fall, and the Empress will be captured or killed. As such, I was hoping you could get in touch with our orbital forces and have them concentrate overhead, further denying the Vong any opportunity to strike at us. It is risky, sir, but the safety of the Empress is of the utmost importance." Heath was beginning to sweat now. What if the Supreme Commander hadn't caught on? If the Vong tapped this comm channel, the whole plan could go awry. He waited anxiously for a response.

It wasn't who he was expecting, but it was good news. ISB knew the Empress was MIA tho he knew the trueth he had seen the Flagship jump just prior to the sneak attack and everyone still belived that she was either in Coronet City or in the chaos in orbit.

"It is good to know that there is someone with Rank on the surface, Currently the Lord General is MIA and from intel we have recieved so far here is that he is in fact KIA." he mused the security of the connection, it was encrypted to the max and very narrow band in a frequency range unused by any other comms, but decided it was best to play along. " Awe yes we had recieved word that her shuttle was enroute to the flagship to join up with the Lord General. When the surprise assualt was launched and she had it return to the surface." He lied with as he would bluff his way to a jackpot. "It would appear she is the main target, but as the moment it would appear that the Vong are going to blockade the planet. I have been going over the scematics of the palace, it will be secure as long as the Orbital batteries remain online and the Anti-Fighter/ Aircraft weapons keep things in position. And if they land forces on the surface it would be a bloody battle but you would be effectively without Air support either or reinforcements. I would advice that you see what is in the hanger bays and look for Landspeeders and Landtrucks, and Land Troop transports, and stock up from the Armories and supply caches for an extended period. I will leave it up to you when to bail out or better yet leave before the landforces begin landing for the mountains. and if things start going really bad you may need to began using Guerilla tactics and fight the occupation or find another way off planet. That is your orders as it stands. Once again if you need to communicate you have the call back channel. I will also see what I can do about the Space Battle. The Fleet Admiralty wouldn't like accepting orders from a Land boss" ~he chuckled, "If that is all, I will be seeing as to what we can do to launch a Evac mission to pickup the Empress just as soon as we can. Until then do what you can to keep her safe and alive, That is your top priority. Imperial High command out"

He then closed down the comm Corellia Ground Forces had a leader, now he could focus on the bigger picture. He straighted up his suit and refilled his mug with caff and turned back to interactive map with the side screens occupied with the orbital veiw of Coronet City and the Space Battle awaiting for the Empress to contact him.

    Kalvic "Kal" Dallin
    Space Around Corellia

Down to twenty-six Predators, Kal thought solemnly. That's only two pilots more then two squadrons.

Though their attack run had been successful, they hadn't taken out the two capital ships without casualities; two more Predators had been shot down and Kal knew that the Neutralizers had at least one casualty. From all the casualties that the 63rd Fighter Wing had taken so far, Kal wasn't sure which of them had gone down with their fighters or had managed to eject in time. Unfortunately, considering the space around Corellia, even if any of their fellow pilots had ejected, rescue was unlikely. A shuttle would be easy pickings and all other military power was being focused around Coronet where the enemy was concentrating most of their forces. It was no surprise; other then being Corellia's main capital city, it had been Coronet where the Empire's top officials had held their meeting not too long and Kal wondered if the Vong assault was to take out what they can.

He felt a small jolt run through his spine and his eyes widened briefly. Was the Empress down there? No, she had to have gotten out of there before the attack. There had been no reason for her to stay on Corellia longer then necessary after the meeting had been adjourned. She should've been on her way to Coruscant by now, right?

Kal looked at the data that filled his primary monitor. The two Ardent-class fast frigates that had assisted them in the destruction of the enemy Star Destroyer had immediately taken position at this small section of space that had been opened up. Behind them, the much slower and larger Manticore was drifting into position to provide fire support. Fair deal; it was only due to Captain Ansem coming through with those reinforcements that they had this little pocket of space to themselves to begin with. Of course he would want to make sure they kept it.

For however briefly that may be. Kal wasn't kidding himself; they were still losing. Just because they managed to punch a small hole in the enemy fleet, it wouldn't be long before they decided to plug it back up. Probably one of the only reasons that this attack had met such success was the fact that the Vong were distracted with Coronet and the rest of the Imperial fleet. The squadron leader had noted that there had been a severe lack of enemy starfighters that could've protected the frigate and Destroyer and made their success cost a bit more but that was because it seemed like most of them have been called down to hit ground-based defenses and other targets. They had to take advantage of this hole as much as they could.

Studying his monitor, Kal saw that they were currently holding position directly above the riverside city Tyrena which was one of the factors that led Kal to initiating this attack. Tyrena held one of Corellia's major spaceports and if they sought to evacuate any civilian or military personnel, that would be the one to do it. And Tyrena was quite close to Coronet so if they could launch a strike...

Kal keyed his comms, "Captain Ansem, Commander Dallin here."

"Glad to hear you're still there, Commander."

"Likewise. We managed to get a bit of footing but it won't be long before we lose it. Recommend we take this opportunity to evacuate who we can from within Tyrena and any other surrounding settlements if possible."

"Been relaying it five minutes ago."

Kal nodded to himself. Good. There had been no time for evacuating from Hapes or Muunilist when the Vong struck but here, at least, Kal hoped to deprive Naire and her fanatics from taking anymore innocent lives. Another small victory. "What's the word on Coronet?"

"Holding but not too well. The Vong are concentrating most of their efforts there and while defenses are holding, they won't for very long. Orders have been sent out for ground-based personnel to dig in and prepare for a long, drawn out ground war. Also, Commander..."

Kal didn't like the sudden shift in the Captain's tone despite the natural static of comms nearly masking it "What is it, Ansem?"

"I'm trying to get confirmation but there are reports that the Empress is still in Coronet."

Kal inhaled sharply, eyes wide. The Empress was still here after all? Quickly, Kal looked to his monitor. "How are we doing on reinforcements?"

"Wish it were better. I got a couple more smaller vessels that were able to sneak away from the main battle but don't expect anymore Star Destroyers to reinforce our position. However, in a surprising twist, it looks like someone high up noticed your stunt. We got three squadrons of starfighters and one bomber coming in that have been ordered to support us."

That was certainly what they needed. Tracking the incoming fighters, Kal looked to the main battle and tried to think of a plan. There wasn't much he could do; not with the token amount of forces they had at their disposal. But, at worst, he can be a pain in their side and, at best, he could take a few more ships with him. Maybe distract them and allow evacuees to flee Coronet. It was the best they could do.

"Keep two of those squadrons to cover this section of space," Kal spoke. He wish he could request more but he knew how unwise it would be; any other spare starfighters needed to continue their fight with the Vong fighters that continued to pound at ground targets. "I'll take the 63rd, our bombers, and I'll coordinate with the third squadron and their bombers to do what we can. I might need capital ship support but only light; keep this hole open for evacuees."

    "Good hunting, Commander."

Switching back to his starfighter frequency, Kal spoke, "Alright 63rd, we aren't done yet. Possible Imperial VIPs still trapped within Coronet. We're going to see what we can do to get the pressure off of them and give them a chance to flee. The Vong have concentrated most of their starfighter force towards taking out our ground-based defenses so we may have some room to mess with them. We're just down to simple harassment; lets make ourselves a real pain in their butts and take their minds off Coronet and our evacuee tunnel. Keep your distance from the DP20s, work around them, and go in close and between their capital ships. Lets get it done, 63rd!"

Kal got into contact with the reinforcement squadrons. It was going to be a simple maneuver. The 63rd would make their approach towards the flanking elements of the section of the Vong fleet that's assaulting Coronet while the reinforcement Predator and bomber squadrons struck from Corellia's surface, using the debris that was strewn about space to cover their approach from atmosphere and into the space battle. It would be enough to allow for a surprise torpedo barrage but after that...there was really not much they could do. Pick their targets - preferably the older, inferior vessels for easier kills - and just hammer them with torpedo and laser cannons. It was all they could really do but hopefully it'll get the Vong's attention and get the pressure off Coronet and their ground forces.

I still don't know if Kadmin's down there...

He didn't and Kal had chosen not to ask in case Ansem did know if his brother's platoon was down there. He had too much to think about as it was; he couldn't let his own personal feelings distract him no matter how much he wanted to make sure one of the only members of his family was safe. Right now, all he could concentrate on was the battle.

    IC: Darth Malkuth

    Hangar 51, Coruscant

The news was all over the Senate tower when Darth Malkuth returned, refreshed and recovered. He'd even had a slight meditation while in his return taxi, before the information had demanded his driver wake him. Not that the man should have been paying attention to the HoloNet while driving an airtaxi. Malkuth had forgiven him the oversight, but not tipped him, and Malkuth was a consummate tipper.

His face looked grim as panic gripped people, either in states of shock sitting by the side of the corridors, or huddled around datapads showing the news live. There was crying as a Star Destroyer, the Sentinel, exploded, and they realised their loved ones were probably gone. Malkuth settled within the misery, absorbing it and wondering what was to be done. He'd be lying if he didn't say he was planning to head to Corellia. It had been his intention. Either the Vong would strike at the planet, which would give them plenty of evidence to collect, or wouldn't, potentially giving them a lead within the Imperial Court, if the Empress was in league with these new foes... stranger things had happened, and the first Emperor of the first Galactic Empire had used the threat of the Yuuzhan Vong invasion to suborn various elites including the legendary Grand Admiral Thrawn.

But being as the planet was under a quite serious siege, there was very little chance of that, unless the Empress was so callous she could give Palpatine a run for his money.

Mir was already there, within his Obsidian Falcon, the advanced Mandalorian starfighter. Back in it's heyday, it probably would have given an Alliance Crossfire or Imperial TIE Defender a good run for its money... and even then all the smart bets would have been on the Mandalorian design winning. Of course, the Mandalorian started with an inane comment, which Malkuth didn't appreciate; "I could have told you that already," he snarled.

Sol seemed a little more rattled than either of them, but he was a Jedi, so no surprises there. But he did have a fairly impressive ship. Both of them did. Beside his slightly old - if ninety years since it had been a prototype vessel couldn't as old - TIE Blur, they looked positively divine. With that in mind, and with the knowledge that three targets were better than one, he decided they would advance in their own ships.

"So, you've probably guessed where we're going." He gestured out the hangar bay, in the general cartographical direction of their destination. "Corellia. It was always our goal anyway - and you can both tell that I'm not lying about that, and we're going to follow the Vong fleet when it jumps out, or infiltrate if it doesn't."

"General objectives? In the short-term, I have an old apartment on the edges of Coronet City." He waved a hand. "It has a warehouse nearby, and I'm owed a few favours by Blue Sun in the district." The Sith didn't even seek their approval of his casual association with the former public and respectable face of the Black Sun criminal organisation, before it's untimely unmasking at the hands of a band of ex-Confederates during the Reaver incident, eight years after the fall of Darth Caedus.

He shrugged. "You'll have the coordinates in your HUD by the time we sync up." Malkuth gestured to his valet droid, a lean looking sentient which probably should have been an assassin droid and not a butler, and it began to fit him with the typical TIE pilot gear which had been used for nearly two centuries. The latest iteration left the face unmasked, to give a 'personal face' to Imperials, which suited him fine; he always got too hot in full helmets.

Malkuth continued, not inviting commentary. "Now, I'm a Sith. Yes, that means I will betray you at some point." He didn't shrug this time, because the sleek droid before him would have lectured him about the necessity of his life support rig being perfect. "But I am a new breed of Sith; I will betray you to your face. And I will not being doing that today."

    "Alright?"

He shifted to get comfy in the gear.

"So suit up, fly off, and if you have any prissy comments to make, let's get them out of our systems now. Because, from now onwards, we're the Watchers... I'm Watcher One, Mir is Watcher Two, and Sol, you're Three."

He pulled his gloves on. "Call-signs from now onwards, people. We're rendezvous at my apartment at 20 hundred hours Corellian local time."

He paused, allowing them time to move out, or comment. As the commanding officer, their lives were his responsibility, and he always liked to leave last when that was the case.

    Double post just because...

    IC: Vader
The Sacking of Corellia; the prelude to the Second Great Blockade of Corellia

The battle was hardly over, but it was hardly continuing unabated. Tactical eddies were being created around the conflagration, which were severely impeding the rest of the battle. As an example, a handful of capital ships and squadrons or half-squadrons of fighters had gained coordination, and a steady stream of refugees were heading for the gap while the majority of his fleet was busy with Imperial targets, still clustered around the two Golan VIII stations, which were absorbing an awful lot of damage. Planetary defenses were causing his formations to become unglued, and as his forces had taken the majority of the damage thus far, he was also being targeted the most. There were other tactical considerations as well; the spirited defense of the Capitol, the rumours that the Empress was still in-system had diverted several squadrons of fighters and capital ships from the main engagement to ensure that the planet was secured.

That he now commanded a stolen Pellaeon-class Star Destroyer and was the most hated ship in the engagement hardly helped. The bridge shook as a heavy turbolaser shot from the surface slammed into the underside of his ship, taxing already overtaxed shields. Wiping blood from his face - he'd had his face slashed open when he was thrown into the side of a console - he looked to the others as they scrambled back to their stations. All tattooed or bruised or malformed by their own hand, they looked like a hardcore band that had taken method acting to a whole new level. He snarled. "Report!!"

"Damage is minor so far, sir, but shields are generally on their last legs - "

"Fighter squadrons reports suggest we've lost about 45% of our screens so far, though the four-squadron Wing we launched is at 100% in terms of numbers -"

"The Relentless is gone, sir - it caught an ion cannon burst full on, and the Imperials gave it no chance to recover -"

"We haven't heard from the Supreme Overlord since she arrived, we believe she may be jammed, or there is something wrong with the communications array. A fire in engineering has prevented them from reporting in -"

Frustrated, Vader shook his head, kicking one of the innumerable corpses that littered the bridge. The head of the dead Falleen came free, due to the force of his blow, and the crew fell silent. "For the love of all that Yun Yammka said was divine! We are the Vong! A few Imperials are nothing to us! We will make them burn, and leave them to die." He watched the head of the bridge officer roll away, and then off the landing to plop beside a crew member who did well not to wince.

As he watched the crew members reaction, he wondered if he could elicit a reaction from the others. Checking the tactical grid, he could see that the reason they'd attracted so much fire is because the deployment of his fighter screen to stop the refugee trickle had left him exposed. With Naire engaging the remaining Imperials in high orbit, his vessels had, by and large, been drifting into high orbit or low orbit positions, trying to secure the planet and simultaneously blockade the exits, before the battle was won. But what that did mean was that his vessel was the most advanced in the Vong fleet that was still un-dedicated.

The fury and focus his ship had drawn suggested a disproportionate amount of attention upon him, which made sense. But it was also costing the Imperials elsewhere. With clearer eyes - or eye, singular - he could see that the weapon which had fired at him had exposed its position, allowing it to be painted as a target of opportunity. Which meant he had to use more than just this ship... he had to use everything associated with it to drive the psychological blow of his treachery as deep as he could.

"Get all spare crew-members not required to either fire their guns or man the bridge to the hangars. This is a Pellaeon-class Star Destroyer. It'll include shuttles, and Walker Deployment vessels. The AT-AHT's are going to give our troops on the ground a major push for the Capitol." He nodded his orders. "Start slaving weapons and automating the weapons to each other and get crews to the escape pods. I want them to start launching, and directing themselves towards the ground, or un-shielded capital ships at the fringes of the main engagement. Claim to be crewmembers fleeing the Vong - whatever will get you aboard. Spread carnage and make them doubt their efforts to save their own."

"Guns, you're accuracy is going to dip as more crew-members leave. Don't worry. You're focus will be to carve a tunnel through space; make sure our dropships and walkers make it to the ground."

"Helm, keep us pointed so the maximum amount of guns can track the surface, and head towards those two Ardent-class frigates that destroyed the Tyrannic. I want that refugee hole closed. Signal the Predators we launched to not commit themselves to any further engagements and prepare for them to join us when I say. Do not, I repeat do not order them to follow us in."

And so the Pellaeon-class Gorgon, named after Admiral Natasi Daala, lurched forward with its shields ailing, it's guns firing in spasmodic and purely automated fashion, and bleeding escape pods while it did so.

Coming for Kal's little corner of tranquility.

Vader, for his part, left the bridge and retreated to his impromptu quarters on the bridge, to take his next set of orders from his Mistress, keeping an eye on the tactical displays.

"I could have told you that already," he snarled.

Mir smiled. As Malkuth responded he noticed Sol walking up with his R2 following closely behind him. In that moment an idea dawned upon on him. Rami began to tense up as the the Sith and Jedi drew closer, but Mir put him at ease with a simple gesture.

Let's see what Malkuth has in mind...

"So, you've probably guessed where we're going. Corellia. It was always our goal anyway - and you can both tell that I'm not lying about that, and we're going to follow the Vong fleet when it jumps out, or infiltrate if it doesn't. General objectives? Ah...that makes this more fun

"You'll have the coordinates in your HUD by the time we sync up." Now, I'm a Sith. Yes, that means I will betray you at some point. But I am a new breed of Sith; I will betray you to your face. And I will not being doing that today."

Mir couldn't help himself when he snorted, but with his buy'ce sealed Malkuth couldn't hear the snort.

Well that's a given obvious...but if he compromises my payment or attempts to kill me or Rami, I'll have a shoto in his aruetii gut and carve it out for Rami to feed on...

"Alright? So suit up, fly off, and if you have any prissy comments to make, let's get them out of our systems now. Because, from now onwards, we're the Watchers... I'm Watcher One, Mir is Watcher Two, and Sol, you're Three. Call-signs from now onwards, people. We're rendezvous at my apartment at 20 hundred hours Corellian local time."

Mir didn't hesitate for a second to start talking, "I've got an idea." He faced Sol "Your R2 could be pretty useful in this." Mir didn't even bother to see how Malkuth responded "I can get my ship in close enough to board one of the cruiser vessels of the Vong, and they'll be too focused with the battle to see me coming. I suggest Sol and his R2 come with me so we can board the cruiser, and allow R2 to find a datajack to slice and download all of their information. If things go south, Rami and I can create a diversion to allow Sol and his R2 more time if needed." Then he faced Malkuth, "You can do what you feel is best, stay in the space battle and keep us updated on the battle, or you can infiltrate with your ship as well and go straight to the generator and destroy it and whatever else is needed to cause the cruiser to explode into pieces....but your the captain, you make the call."

Malkuth considered, ignoring the derision that Mir was presenting in the Force, but by and large listening to what the man had to say.

"An R2 unit is an asset we haven't had before, so it may be worthwhile... if an opportunity presents itself."

The Sith Lord raised a finger in thought. "Sol, if your droid has the slicing capability, then that may be useful in and of itself. It's largely your call - it'd be your risk, and we don't know what we'll get or not." Malkuth considered. "We may even be able to infiltrate a hulk, if they haven't had time to purge it, but we'll have more luck with an active ship. It may even be work better if I and Mir make an attempt on two separate vessels, and then Sol, aloof, can decide which one to advance on. The second - spare - target can then be disabled or abandoned."

He folded his arms. "Anything else you want to add, Mir?"

He was going to contact someone named Kad Viszla, telling him that 'the plan had been enacted'. I don't know what this plan is or what it entails. He had met with a Muun envoy from Naire. The General shot him. This is all I know.//

Shira’s message shocked her, though she kept face as they walked towards the meeting room. The dark chill of Naire began to overshadow her thoughts. But not only that. Whatever the Lord General had been planning involved the Rebellion.

    And she hadn’t approved it.

She grit her teeth in an effort to stave off her frustration. This holocron had to be of great importance, otherwise Naire wouldn’t have sent for it. She wouldn’t waste her time on trinkets. From Sistros’ information, the Empress only knew of one holocron that had such potential. Even if she was mistaken, the fact that Naire had wanted this holocron meant it was vital to one of her twisted causes. The need to find the Lord General became her top priority; if Naire gained any powerful artefact the war would be a lost cause. She shook her head; both in awe at James’ boldness and “plan” and in irritation.

The door to the meeting room was a few steps ahead. She stalked forward, trying to pull her mind from the abyss of dark, swirling anger.

After she took her seat at the head of the stateroom’s large table, she closed her eyes and sent a response to Shira.

((Find him. Find anyone who knows anything. You must do this quickly, it’s of utmost importance. You remember the holocron that Naire wanted to gain many years ago? The one that would lead her to the triplets? I feel this is the same. If not, it must still be of great power for Naire. She seems to think it could be. It could end the war now, just as soon as it has begun.))

The Empress tried to hide her great disdain for the Lord General’s actions and move her focus to the meeting. Difficult as her vision was covered with a haze of red, the fury distracting her. She blinked and looked to the comm in front of her, realising she had also been waiting for word from the Supreme Commander and Senator Sandstrider. It appeared she had already gotten it; the red message light was blinking expectantly.

The room was still empty, save for the guards and agents whom seemed to be omnipresent. In time the others would arrive, the silent room gave her the chance to focus on giving orders. She took a long breath and pressed the button.

"Imperial High Command, Supreme Commander Tur-Mukan," his voice, tinny from the comm, echoed in the small room.

The relief that he had been able to reach her was short-lived; she didn’t know much about the situation on Corellia. Thus creating a plan would be more difficult than she would have liked. The best plan of action, she figured, was to focus on fighters and planetary defence. Corellia at least had a decent grid of satellites and turrets to assist them. A realisation crept over her. They also had CorSec. She didn’t know how well they would stand against the Vong fleet – however big it was – but she did know that it would improve their chances.

The Empress moved her hand only slightly to turn on the channel and respond. “Supreme Commander, I am mostly in the dark for information at the moment. I have yet to receive any transmissions from our fleet over Corellia. The most important thing is to keep our true size a mystery, yet still manage to disable them. Cloak and shield the fleets in system, scramble communications. For now I feel we should use the grid of planetary defence to our advantage, and attempt to overwhelm their capital ships with our large number of fighters. Contact CorSec as well and give them my orders. Tell the head to contact High Command or myself. I will keep the comm channel open, I await all reports,” she said, quickly shutting off the comm before waving her hand to the agent nearby.

“A datapad, Agent,” she ordered. He hurried off with a bow.

The next task was to get in contact with the Senator of Abydos. She took the next message; a simple one from the bridge of the Saviour. They were in system. Relief began to overtake her anger, which had already seemed to be fading into determination. Clicking the line open again, she started her request.

“This is the Empress Volshe,” she began. “I am deeply gracious for your quick arrival and offer, Senator. I request that you come on board for a meeting, or that you attend via holo. There is much mystery around the battle and our current priority is not to head straight to Corellia, but to create a concrete plan. I await your response.”

The Empress kept the line on. She was hoping for a quick reply. Just as she finished, the Agent stepped forward with the datapad. The screen was filled with reports and she glanced them over quickly. It seemed it was a stalemate for now; the fleets were doing well at protecting the space over Corellia. But that could change very quickly. The Vong fleet had already weakened them greatly. She leaned back to glance over the rest of the reports while waiting for her replies.

"So, you've probably guessed where we're going. Corellia. It was always our goal anyway - and you can both tell that I'm not lying about that, and we're going to follow the Vong fleet when it jumps out, or infiltrate if it doesn't. General objectives? In the short-term, I have an old apartment on the edges of Coronet City. It has a warehouse nearby, and I'm owed a few favours by Blue Sun in the district."

Sol smiled at the new directions he was given. He hated going into things blindly because that's how the Sith Academy always did it and it always had a poor result on his body despite his success at the mission. Well at least Glover has the coordinates ready...

"You'll have the coordinates in your HUD by the time we sync up." Now, I'm a Sith. Yes, that means I will betray you at some point. But I am a new breed of Sith; I will betray you to your face. And I will not being doing that today."

This raised Sol's ire as he began to worry about how he would betray them. As Sol thought through the possibilities lighting began to dance off his finger tips, but he took a deep breath to calm himself. Remember Malkuth I'm a Sith as well, but I'm the old type of Sith who follows Jedi rules and will not hesitate to destroy you if your selfish act puts Mir or I in danger.

"I've got an idea, your R2 could be pretty useful in this, I can get my ship in close enough to board one of the cruiser vessels of the Vong, and they'll be too focused with the battle to see me coming. I suggest Sol and his R2 come with me so we can board the cruiser, and allow R2 to find a datajack to slice and download all of their information. If things go south, Rami and I can create a diversion to allow Sol and his R2 more time if needed."

Sol rubbed his chin as he turned the idea over in his head, "Yes...Yes that would work, Rusty is well versed in slicing so do not worry.

"Sol, if your droid has the slicing capability, then that may be useful in and of itself. It's largely your call - it'd be your risk, and we don't know what we'll get or not. We may even be able to infiltrate a hulk, if they haven't had time to purge it, but we'll have more luck with an active ship. It may even be work better if I and Mir make an attempt on two separate vessels, and then Sol, aloof, can decide which one to advance on. The second - spare - target can then be disabled or abandoned." "

Alright, well its not a good idea to split up on those Vong Cruisers or even their non-organic ones. I suggest we go with Mir's idea, him taking me to cruisers and you doing what ever you want. I'd suggest you do what Mir said and stay out side, keeping us updated. If it starts going to Hell there I don't want to be on one of their cruisers as it explodes or jumps into Hyperspace."

    IC: Daniel Sandstrider
    ACS Savior Bridge

Daniel stood on the expansive bridge of his flagship, watching as his Squadron (not to be confused with a Fleet) approached the NGE forces. The fleet floating in front of him was impressive, to put it mildly. There was a distinct lack of Frigate or Corvette style ships like his own Squadron was filled with, but what replaced them...

He had considered the Savior big at around the size of an old Mandator II dreadnought. But the ships outside were massive. Even the smaller ones, that looked like upgrades on the old Bellator design, were bigger than everything but the Savior. The largest of the ships was easily the biggest he had ever seen, even bigger than the Executor of the old Empire.

"Message from the NGE flagship sir," his comm officer called out.

Daniel nodded, and let the message play, “This is the Empress Volshe, I am deeply gracious for your quick arrival and offer, Senator. I request that you come on board for a meeting, or that you attend via holo. There is much mystery around the battle and our current priority is not to head straight to Corellia, but to create a concrete plan. I await your response.”

After letting the message play, Daniel sent his own back, "This is the least I can do. We've been attacked by these terrorists, and if we can help liberate Corellia, it is our duty to do everything possible. As for developing a plan, I can have a shuttle on your flagship in a few minutes. Sandstrider out."

With that said, Daniel yielded the bridge to the Savior's Captain and headed down to its hanger bay. Once there, he boarded his old freighter, the Spirit, and set out for the NGE flagship. A pair of Starstreaks followed suit, escorting the old YT-2400 to its destination.

    IC: Lt. Heath Kolarn
    Imperial Palace, Coronet City

Preliminary contact had been made with the enemy. Around the edges of the city, Vong ground troops were slowly advancing, pushing the Imperials back block by block. The outer defenses had been largely abandoned beforehand, however, to reinforce their positions protecting the surface-to-orbit batteries, AA guns, and fighter launch pads. If the Vong thought this was the extent of the Empire's might, they were sorely mistaken. A report came in that all Imperial troops had fallen back across the first defensive line. The Vong were streaming over it. Smiling, Heath touched a control on the monitor... and Coronet City shook as the outer defenses self-destructed, obliterating the Vong's vanguard. That would buy them some time while the Vong ground forces regrouped.

Meanwhile, the ISB agents had taken to their roles very seriously. "Empress Volshe" looked and acted very much the part, even visiting the troops in the palace and boosting their morale. Her "security team" was dressed in spare Shadow Guard attire and were an intimidating bunch. If only they were real Shadow Guards... that would really be something.

Scanning the skies, Heath saw that the Vong still hadn't penetrated Coronet City's airspace. There were heavy casualties on both sides, but so far the Imperial fighters and Corellian Air Force had done exceedingly well, beyond even Heath's imagination. No wonder the Rebellion of old had managed to overthrow the first Galactic Empire -- they had recruited all of the elite Corellian pilots. Heath's respect for them was steadily increasing, even as their losses mounted. But now it was time to focus on the ground again.

The Vong forces were slowly regrouping, rallying as they received reinforcements. They continued to push into the city, surrounding the Imperial forces. They were more wary now, though, not wanting to run into any more surprises. If only the Imperials had had that many explosives... Now the fighting was becoming more brutal, as the two forces battled block by block, building by building, room by room. The Imperials were continually overwhelmed and forced to retreat, but always regrouped at the next defensive line and held for as long as they could. Their discipline was supreme. Soon, however, the line would crumble and individual defensive locations would be cut off from one another. That's when the fighting would be the thickest, but also where Imperial resistance was heaviest. As the last defensive line began to fall, the Imperial pickets broke and ran for their assigned sectors of the city. They had to hold the Vong off at all costs.

While this was going on, Heath received a call from CorSec Command. Apparently orders had come through to them to assist in any way possible. Heath had them begin to evacuate civilians to nearby Tyrena. They made a cordon of fighters to protect the shuttles, and so far civilian casualties had been kept to a minimum. The price was high for CorSec, however, keeping the Vong fighters away from the evac shuttles. They would have to do some serious recruiting when this war was finished.

Overall, things seemed to be going as expected. The Vong were winning, but were paying heavily for it. This had been the basic premise of Heath's plan anyway, so things seemed to be going well. That is, until he began receiving reports of escape pods and shuttles raining down on Coronet at insane burn angles. The odds of surviving a landing like that were much slimmer than normal, but that meant Vong forces were now in the city behind the outermost defenses. The situation only grew worse as AT-AHT walkers emerged from the downed shuttles. An enormous explosion sounded towards the edge of the city. One of the surface-to-orbit batteries had gone down.

    IC:Lanna Shakal

Aboard the flagship The Lorellian in hyperspace en-route to Corellia

Lanna paced. She knew it wasn’t a very Senator-like thing to do; it made her look nervous. She couldn’t help it though, she was nervous. Terrified, even. When The Lorellian and the rest of the small Hapan fleet came out of hyperspace they would come face to face with the very beings that had attacked her planet and had bombed her home. After she had implemented the new security measures, she had decided to aid Corellia instead of going to Coruscant, with the help of 10 Battle Dragons, not including The Lorellian.
The captain of the ship approached her. “Senator, we are leaving hyperspace,” she said. Lanna nodded. “Thank you, Captin.” As the flag ship left hyperspace, Lanna steeled herself for the worse. She looked through the viewport and gulped. What she saw was worse than anything she could have begun to imagine. The enemy fleet was far larger than even the NGE fleet, never mind this small fleet, or even the Neutrality Pact’s combined forces. The Vong fleet was just so huge.

Lanna found her voice and spoke to her aid. “Send a message to the captain of each ship.” Her aid nodded, so Lanna continued. “Tell them that they have a choice: they can leave or fight. They will not be punished for leaving and looking out for the safety of their crew. If they want to stay, all who survive are to retreat on my signal. We will only stay as long as we can.” The aid nodded, stone faced, and sent the message. Only 2 ships abandoned the rest. Though the odds were small Lanna understood why they wanted to stay. It was not out of love or loyalty to the Empire; they wanted to avenge those who died and they wanted to destroy those that had tarnished the glory of Hapes. And besides all that, this was Corellia; they never listened to odds anyway. Lanna thought that maybe they should.

The ship’s captain came up to her again. “Senator you really should go. There is no reason for you to stay here and risk your life so needlessly.” Lanna smiled. “I will not be risking my life if you do your job correctly, Captain. Just wait for my signal and then we will flee.” The Captain sighed. “Of course, Senator.”

Lanna paused before speaking again. “Who is in charge of the Imperial fleet?” “That would be the Grand Admiral or the Empress.” She nodded to her aid and dismissed the captain. “I want to know how to best aid these people in their fight against the Vong.” She couldn’t quite bring herself to say she wanted to know how to best aid the Empire. “I want to speak to the Grand Admiral.”

Imperial High Command, Coruscant Imperial Palace.

"Yes mylady Imperial High Command out" He relaxed as he knew She was safe from the action and now had authorization to get Cor-Sec involved. He strolled back to the primary display and zoomed on the Coronet battle area, things had deterioated faster than planned. He dialed up Cor-Sec on his comm listed " Cor-Sec Command this is Supreme Commander Tur-Mukan of Imperial High Command you are ordered to assist Imperial Ground Forces in Coronet, by all means." "Cor-Sec Command we have already been authorized to do so by the Corellian government and been moving our fighter forces to the Capital, with ground forces enroute to bolster the defenses." the official in charge of Cor-Sec said quite rattled but distinctly. "I have noticed you are currently helping with the evac, but I have more important objectives at this time, you can continue use your fighters to defend the evac but I request you send bomber support and 2 fighter squads we have shuttles landing the bombers are to bomb enemy ground troops, and walkers, and the fighter squads are to shoot down any and all shuttles landing." Tur-Mukan said, ": But Sir, I refuse to order my bombers to bomb our own soil!" The Cor-Sec offical angerly stated. "If you do not order the Bombers I will be forced to have someone who will take your place I am sure you have noticed that they are landing an Entire Army on your planet. I will do my best to rally up some help but if you don't those walkers are going to decimate our ground forces and the planets orbital defenses. Imperial Command OUT!" He said quiet sternly. He Looked and noticed that 10 bomber squads where taking off, must have been prepped for an assualt on the orbiting ships he assumed.

"Imperial High Command to Lt. Kolarn, I know your ISB but you are currently in charge of the Coronet Garrison, In the Basement of the Military wing of the Palace, there are 3 AT-HTs that have not been deployed, in fact they are there without knowledge of Corellian Government, but the Imperial Army is never without walkers. The Turbolift to the chamber is in the command center of the military wing, I am authorizing you to get those walkers out and fighting the Turbolift pass code is ENDGAME, I am also sending in reinforcements from a Military base near Tyrena, They will include Several Armour Units and 2 stormtrooper Battalions so your about to have your own small army. I would also advise to move all ariel Defenses to the Orbital Batteries and away from protecting the city. Cor-Sec troops will be taking over Evac operations. And if your defense become become to strained Pull out with the Empress to the Northern Hills with what all you can and we are still planning a Evac Raid to get her out. Imperial High Command out" with that he switched from Surface view of the battle ground and turned toward the Space battle,

He immedately saw the lead ship the one dropping troops, he noted its corridnates with that of the Orbital batteries. "Corellia Orbital Batteries, Imperial High Command here, I have a target at the following corrdinates to your relative positions no matter what the ISB Agent orders I want this ship destoryed fire everything you have at it till its destroyed once its gone, you will revert back to the chain of command to the Lt at the Palace." he ordered, "Yes sir, anything else sir?" a Crisp professional voice said with loud booming of the guns firing "Not at this time, I just need this particular target gone that is all High Command out" Hate kicked himself for that, he hated bypassing chains of command but the surface forces sensors would be beyond useless in that mad fray and it couldn't wait for Chain of Command. He took a long drink from his caff, the empress needed a Report. on the sitituation so he took quick 2D, for view on a view screen or a datapad, screenshots of the Space battle adding notes identifing ships that he could and then of the ground battle noting the locations of troops and positions and estimated force strengths. He compressed it down into a single data packet and encrypted to the max and labelled it HER EYE'S ONLY. and sent it out to her flagship.

    Coruscant, en route to Corellia

Sol's comments were noted, as was the way his hands seemed to react. Odd...

Darth Malkuth nodded at the end of it. "Fine. Mir's unamended plan it is."

With that, he strode towards his Blur. "Call-signs from now on, and get ready. No Force melds; don't do them. If you two think you can get on enough to forge one, you're welcome to do so but I'm not joining it."

That limited their effectiveness as a trio, but he had no control over what they would get from him. His progenitor, Darth Insipid, had used a Force meld on the Acolytes of Darkness at the Goreh Incident, and it had only gone badly; he had exposed himself as a tyrannical monster, and that they were worse than pawns to him; mere insects. It had been the final lightsaber in his coffin.

With a nod, he levitated himself to the top hatch, jumped in, and launched in what was obviously insufficient time for a full pre-flight checklist and also to obtain authority for a launch from Spaceport Control. Anyone tracking him through atmosphere would have little issue, but the moment he breached atmosphere, his stealth measures kicked in, and it didn't matter how busy Coruscant was; he was gone to all, including his comrades... winking out from sensors like he had been killed...

... apart from within the Force.

Within the Force, his was the presence of anticipation building, of a small volcano that was subjected to pressure that increased with each moment, a cloaked and fanged demigod that was unfolding its wings as it poised to pounce on its prey with a malevolent cackle that echoed through the ages, that chilled any who could touch the Force to the very bone, that worried at their very hearts and souls, that made them fear that this great and terrible and truly monstrous beast would notice them...

... and then he vanished into hyperspace, and they would feel nothing at all.

    But the uncertainty would remain.

    Bio (pic):
The atypical Bothan, but from a family line nobody could pick out. When the Ossus Project was sabotaged, he was rumoured to have slew several pro-Alliance Bothans but these reports have never been corroborated. He was apparently at the retainer of the pro-Neutral Bothans, those including the True Victory Party. His actions, for whatever reason, were one of several such pivotal moments which saw Bothawui secede from the Galactic Alliance with the other former Confederation systems. It has largely remained neutral since 128 ABY, and continues to be neutral even now. Due to his import, Dyur has arisen to the top of a shadowy organisation within the Bothan Spynet, which the government has, time and time again, sought to rein in. Dyur now acts as the liaison between Bothan Space and the Neutrals, including Hapes, Abydos and other systems throughout the galaxy.

    Faction Affiliation: Neutrals
Force Affiliation: None that is detectable, anyway
    Military Position: Spy
Political Position: Spy - don't tend to get medals for those

    Weapon:
Type: Blaster, small number of shots, high yield, designed to be compact and, due to its minimal number of shots and tibanna gas mixed with a stealth isotpe, nigh undetectable by modern sensors; several illegal razor bugs; flechette rifle; stokhi stick
    Lightsaber: None

    Skill Set:
    Force Strengths: See affiliation
    Force Weaknesses: Ditto
Non-Force Strengths: Sneaky, particularly light footed and quick witted
None-Force Weaknesses: Not the most brawny; for a Bothan, not strong. Against humans, strong on their scale of things.

    Coronet Palace, Battle of Corellia.

Hawk's comm beeped. It was Mariah, one of the ISB agents he had sent to Kolarn.

"Director, we have made contact with Lt. Kolarn. He has stationed us in the throne room as decoys for the Empress and her guard. We will be on high alert during the attack, in hopes that we might deter the Vong from the Empress. We will update you with any new developments."

"Very well, Agent Cophen. Keep a keen eye on anyone you come in contact with. The Vong may already have spies on-planet. Trust no one."

    "Understood, Director"

    Hawk disconnected his comm.

    "Loga, get me the Empress."

Pearlsaber's assistant hurried over to his comm to submit the Empress' code. After his flight cancellation due to the blockade, Hawk set up shop in the fortified bunker of the Palace. It was created for situations exactly like the one he found himself in. Last year, he got the NGE to approve a secondary command center for the ISB in the bunker of the palace. He established himself in the royal suite, where the Empress would have stayed if she could not have been removed to a safer location. Of course, she wouldn't be needing it at the moment...

Loga nodded to Hawk, signaling the opportunity for him to leave the Empress a holo-message.

"Empress, this is Director Hawkon Pearlsaber. I am currently in the underground command center for the ISB on Corellia. Due to the blockade, I was not able to leave the planet. However, I have made contact with Lt. Heath Kolarn, the current head of Palace Security. I have dispatched 5 agents to him. One of these agents is being used to serve as your decoy. Our current intelligence tells us that the Vong are unaware of your departure to Coruscant. We are deploying this plan in hopes of buying the NGE more time to retaliate. Until I receive further orders, Loga and I will remain on Corellia."

"Do you think she'll go for it?" Loga asked.

"I don't see why not. Mariah is going to act as a deterrent. Nothing more, nothing less. However, our time in the palace is limited. I fear the Vong may be on the ground before long. If we stay in this bunker, we are sitting ducks. Mariah will have to be our connection to information in the palace once we leave. If the Vong are deploying force-users on Corellia at some point, our 'services' are going to be needed."

Before Hawk and Loga's appointment to the ISB, they served as the Empress' shadow guard. Both Hawk and Loga served and trained together. They practiced lightsaber forms during their tenure, in an attempt to become the greatest swordsmen the NGE had ever trained. The Empress' safety was always primary for Hawk and Loga. The Vong would never get to her if they had anything to do about it. They worked as a team. That is how it always was and it is how it would remain.

    Loga smiled.

"Our services. Sounds just like the old days."

"Hmmm nope, not that I can think of Watcher One."

"Alright, well its not a good idea to split up on those Vong Cruisers or even their non-organic ones. I suggest we go with Mir's idea, him taking me to cruisers and you doing what ever you want. Not responding and suppressing any indication in the Force, Mir noted how Malkuth could possibly have accidentally revealed that he knew he was a Force user.

Well I haven't used the Force at all around him, probably noted that I'm Force sensitive. Might be trying to lure an answer out of me by feigning that he knew the truth. Still going to refrain from using the Force, for now.

Mir turned to the boarding ramp of the Obsidian Falcon and began making his way up, with Rami following him inside. As the boarding ramp began to close as he settled into the pilot seat, powered up the ship, and went through the pre-flight check list. The coordinates of Malkuth's warehouse came through on his console. Mir put the coordinates into his nav computer memory and brought the ship up and out of the hangar. Rami hopped into the co-pilot seat and curled up in it. "Here we go bud, on to the next mission." said Mir as he flew the Obsidian Falcon out of the atmosphere and into space. Mir reached over the console to change his transponder code from Obsidian Falcon to "Ewok Punter" and activated a comm channel with Sol. "Alrighty Watcher Three, let's rendezvous before we enter Corellian space, I'm sending you coordinates. Once we're there you can board my ship, and we'll come back for it after the mission is over." Off in the distance he felt Malkuth's "fiery" presence vanish as he entered hyperspace. Mir activated his hyperdrive, and flexed his fingers on the controls as he felt the all-too familiar "calm before the storm" feeling. He liked the feeling, as it put him into focus. The stars in viewport stretched into the familiar thin lines as he entered hyperspace.

    ......

Once his ship dropped out of hyperspace, the planet Duro filled the viewport. Immediately he activated his cloaking device and within 3 seconds the Obsidian Falcon vanished. As he brought his ship into the atmosphere, Rami began to get jittery. "Not just yet...take it easy." Rami frowned at him. "Before you can think Roba steak we'll be on our way to Corellia. This shouldn't take long." He guided the ship away from the cities, towards a clearing within the lush forest, and set the Obsidian Falcon down. He deactivated the cloaking, opened the boarding ramp, and powered down to the minimum to allow a quick exit once Sol and his R2 unit got on board.

The comm buzzed again urgently, and a second alert joined in, sounding from her datapad. The responses had come much more quickly than she had expected. She played the comm message while checking the datapad. It crackled for a moment before a voice cut in.

"This is the least I can do. We've been attacked by these terrorists, and if we can help liberate Corellia, it is our duty to do everything possible. As for developing a plan, I can have a shuttle on your flagship in a few minutes. Sandstrider out."

The Empress took in his message. He would be on board within 20 minutes, she expected. Just enough time. Her eyes moved from the flickering red of the holo recorder to the datapad.

The reports weren't as good as she had hoped, though Tur-Mukan had followed her orders and she did get a high security file from him containing all the data they would need to pull through the Vong attack. She glanced it over again.

Before the Senator arrived, she would have the time to think through the maps and numbers, picking out the best strategies. The Empress was relieved it was only a space conflict for now; being originally an Admiral - and a pilot before that - this was familiar territory. Her mind was already rapidly analysing the report, trying to set up a formation that would push the Vong back and protect the atmosphere from entering fighters. Creating a defensive wall as strong as durasteel would be the best option. It seemed they didn't have the power for a offensive.

She looked up from the 'pad. Still no sign of the Court or Council, all the chairs empty. The haze of irritation settled over her again. She made a quick motion to the ISB agent, when he stepped over to her she asked they be reminded. He disappeared through the doors for a second time. She straightened in the small throne. As she moved a feather light pressure came from a satchel hidden beneath her outer robes. She wasn't completely alone, she realised with a small smile. Although the room was empty, there was another advisor she hadn't even thought to speak with.

Her double sabers gave a muffled clink as she brushed against them and grasped for the clasp on the small satchel. She reached into the velvet lined pocket, feeling the cool metal and reassuring weight of the holocron within her hand as she pulled it out.

She placed it on the table directly in front of her; it's intricate design glinting in the dull light. With a gentle nudge of the Force she reached out to it, letting Sinreb know she was awaiting his assistance.

    Commander Kalvic "Kal" Dallin
    Space Over Corellia

Kal broke hard to port, the turbolaser fire slicing across the space in front of him as he turned to engage his attacker. His attacker, of course, was another assault frigate. The ship's hull completely filled his crosshairs and he jammed his fingers hard on the triggers and all four of his laser cannons spat red laserfire that splashed against the shields of the capital ship. None made it through and Kal was forced to break, this time to starboard, as the turbolaser reoriented and shot at him.

He actually happened to blow passed Mailoc Two and Eleven who now sought to engage the frigate, firing salvos of their own. Kal didn't see if any of their fire made it through though as he was busy making his Predator dance up and down and side to side as the turbolaser fire continued to track him. Eventually he made it in the clear, the turbolaser dying off as he either got too far or the gunners found more annoying targets to deal with. Now with the time to do so, he glanced back, seeing his two squadmates pulling back from their run, the turbolasers now tracking them. The two TIE pilots danced just as crazy as Kal did and while the gunners were distracted with them, a bomber drifted in and launched a torpedo.

Two and Eleven must've been able to weaken the shields enough as the torpedo broke through and smashed into the frigate. Hull plates crumpled, a pair of turbolasers exploded, but the frigate was far from dead.

It was like this all around the immediate area. Having thrown themselves at the Vong fleet's flanking elements that currently sought to overwhelm Coronet, the 63rd and their allies were just doing anything and everything possible to do what damage they could. After their initial attack run that saw them joining forces with the reinforcing squadrons from Corellia, the TIE Predators and their bomber allies have split and have just dedicated themselves to cause as much mayhem as they could. Though the Vong fleet possessed more modern vessels, they only made up a smaller percentage of the fleet so the 63rd and the elements they were currently attacking were made up of elderly vessels.

There was turbolaser fire everywhere, TIEs diving and turning amongst it before unleashing fire of their own. Kal had hoped that by barreling through into the center of the group of warships, the Vong would be more hesitant and careful with their fire so as not to hit one another. He was proven wrong. The Vong were truly insane, firing at the attacking starfighters with a lack of concern for their nearby allies. It helped in the 63rd's efforts to cause as much damage as they could but it meant more fire for them to dodge and not all of them did so successfully. But there were a good number of enemy capital ships that were now burning whether from strafing or torpedo runs or fire from their own allies. Many of them would probably see action again but this was the point of the harassment. Judging by the make-up of the Vong fleet, they had been scavenging what they can where they can. As formidable as the Vong fleet was, Kal hoped to at least cripple what they could and have them waste resources that they may not have to make sure their vessels stayed spaceworthy.

Well, that was the long-term plan anyway and even then Kal wasn't sure how effective that would be. For all he knew, the Vong possessed far more resources then he could imagine. Their fleet that was currently decimating the Empire's was certainly something he hadn't imagined them possessing. So for the short-term, he was just doing his damndest to wound and slow a few capital ships from encircling Corellia.

That was until the Gorgon happened anyway. Though he had thought that, that ship would've been destroyed long ago once the Empire realized that the ship behind them was a traitor vessel, the alert that Kal received told him otherwise. He cycled through his monitor, locating the coordinates where the alert was coming from, and turned his Predator around to get a look.

The Vong were trying to plug up their hole. As if in the literal sense too as the Gorgon was charging full speed directly center cleared evacuation lane. The Ardent frigates were the first to engage, firing their turbolasers into the approaching Destroyer. To Kal's surprise, the Star Destroyer's shields gave out as shots went through and struck at the hull; clearly having been weakened beforehand during the battle. But it was still a Pellaeon-class Destroyer and even without shields, its armaments were deadly as it responded with its own fire. The shields of the frigates took the brunt of the damage but nonetheless, the Gorgon's shots would be getting through and as he thought that, Kal noted the small flares that appeared on the hulls of at least one of the frigate's as shots penetrated.

But there was something off and Kal understood what it was. The Gorgon was hardly concentrating its fire and, even then, its fire wasn't as deadly or menacing as it should be. With his years in the Starfighter Corps, Kal had seen plenty of live examples of a Destroyer's full array of weaponry in action and was able to recognize automated controls when he saw them. But why?

Kark, is it really going to ram on through?

The nearby Manticore, its captain understanding the target of the Gorgon, quickly turned to meet it and defend the evacuation lane. Unlike the Gorgon, its guns were still fully manned and being aimed by a full complement of its crew which would prove to be much more accurate and devastating then its automated fire. The two fast frigates, true to their designation, not only sped forward to give the Gorgon a broadside, but - if Kal had to guess - get behind it and fire upon its engines in an attempt to cripple and slow it down.

That's my fault, Kal thought bitterly. Should've kept at least one squadron of bombers with them. I thought the Manticore would be enough for capital ship defense but I didn't think the Vong would respond so quickly and with a modern ship that could match it. I focused too much on hitting the Vong back.

Even if the Manticore dealt with the Gorgon, the enemy ship could cause damage that may endanger the evacuation lane for a second assault. More then likely there were already other forces being ordered to support the Gorgon once it rammed on through.

It was one of the dangers of command that Kal had experienced before and hated it each time. He had a choice. Break off their harassment of the Vong fleet and defend the evacuation lane, or stay and try to give the Imperials a bit more time to evacuate the Empress or better secure their position against the inevitable ground assault.

If she's down there, Kal thought. Ansem had mentioned that there was a chance but he hadn't gotten confirmation as to whether or not the Empress was still in Coronet. If Kal was in command of the ground forces, he would've evacuated the Empress while it was still possible before the space battle had gotten as desperate as it was now. But he was a pilot and land-based sieges and assaults were not his forte.

The Empire was going to lose Coronet, that much Kal knew. Despite the attacks of his fighter wing, they were just delaying the inevitable. The Vong will be in complete control of space around Coronet soon and there was nothing that Kal would be able to do to stop them. Kal wasn't changing anything by attacking the fleet.

By reinforcing the evacuation, making sure that refugee ships were able to get through, hundreds of Imperial citizens could be saved. Thousands even. And it could still prove to be a minor distraction to the Vong fleet and have them commit other forces like the Gorgon that won't be used elsewhere. With luck, the Empress may be heading to Tyrena to evacuate the planet as Kal would assume that Ansem would be on the line of whoever was in charge to let them know there was still a clear, guarded lane to escape from.

    He made his choice.

"This is Commander Dallin," he spoke into the starfighter channel. "All 63rd and accompanying starfighter and bomber squadrons, break off your attack and reinforce the Manticore. The evacuation lane is under assault and we won't let the Vong have it while Imperial citizens are trying to flee! Return at once!"

It was his choice and as the current, highest-ranking officer of the fighter wing, any blame that would come from this decision would fall on him. Staying strong though, Kal wheeled his fighter around, transferred as much energy as he could to his TIE's engine, and rocketed back towards the evacuation zone.

He admitted defeat here. Coronet - and possibly the Empress - was in the hands of the Imperial Army and what remained of the Imperial Fleet now.

Finally some peace and quiet. The past few days had been so hectic with the attack at Corellia, which to Jalin's dismay, was still going on. He had just sat down on his bed when one of the troopers opened up the door. His armor scuffed, tattered, and a soft shell of what he assumed it was when he first got it made Jalin take notice of the new presence in the room. He had yet to hear from the Empress, wondering if she had forgotten that he was still on the ship. He assumed that's what this was a summoning to go see the Empress. He was wrong.

"Sir incoming transmission from the Hapes flagship Lorellian requesting your immediate presence sir."

Hapes. One of the instigators of the Neutrality Pact. Jalin wondered what they were wanting with an NGE high official. Guess I better find out, Jalin thought. "I'll take it here on my personal transmitter."

"Very good sir." The trooper bowed and closed the door.

Jalin slowly got up and made his way to his comm transmitter. He had thrown clothes and personal items on top of it, so he had to clear it off before pressing the power button. It took a while to boot up, but 5 minutes later a blue 3D hologram image came up. "Grand Admiral Mioree here. Who do I have the pleasure of speaking to?"

Sol watched as first Malkuth flew away and then Mir. He looked down at Rusty and smiled, "Well my friend it seems like we're going to be paying a visit to the Vongs today." The Jedi patted the droid's head cap as he walked back to the Skybreaker. He didn't love the idea of having his ship sit on an infected planet such as Duros, but he had a friend there that could keep an eye on it for him if he needed it. Sol reached the top of the ramp way and shouted to Glover as he slipped a datapad with the coordinates Mir and Malkuth had given him into a wall console. "Glover, put us en route to Duros first and once we are out of hyperspace engage the cloaking devices immediately."

"Certainly Master Solomon, may I ask if someone is expecting us?" The droid droned back

"In a way yes, but we don't want to be seen just yet. Also once we exit hyperspace open a comm channel with the information on this datapad." Sol said as he made his way over to his food synthesizer. Traveling through hyperspace had always made him dreadfully hungry for some unknown reason. With the press of a button the synthesizer hummed and produced a greasy looking Coriellan steak sandwich that was promptly moved onto a plate. Sol began eating the sandwich as he settle down into the pilot's chair with Rusty rolling behind him. After pressing a few buttons on the console the Skybreaker moved out of Coruscant's atmosphere and shot into hyperspace.

"I guess we had better get you suited up for battle," Sol mumbled as he set his half finished sandwich onto the copilot's chair and made his way down the hallway to the main hold. Once in there Sol settle down into one of the chairs and swiveled around to a draw filled with several parts. Rusty rolled his way into the room with several beeps and whistles as he popped open several compartments on his body. "Yes I know you hate changing parts, but if we don't you'll be completely defenseless." The droid responded with a groaning beep and stayed quiet until Sol finished.

"Master Solomon we are nearing Duros and will leave hyperspace in approximately five minutes, also we have an incoming transmission from one called Watcher 2." The droidbrain called out

"Let him through Glover," replied Sol. With several crackles Mir's voice rang throughout the ship.

"Alrighty Watcher Three, let's rendezvous before we enter Corellian space, I'm sending you coordinates. Once we're there you can board my ship, and we'll come back for it after the mission is over."

"Sounds good, I'll see you in five to ten minutes Watcher Two," Sol replied. There was a quiet beep indicating the ship had left hyperspace and was headed for Duros. Sol took this time to put on his dathomiri backpack, check his lightsaber, and grab his still half finished sandwich along with a bottle of water.

With a slight thud the Skybreaker landed on the ground across from the Obsidian Falcon and Sol made his way onto the ramp way as it opened. He greeted the mandalorian with a wave and attempted to say hello through a mouthful of his steak sandwich.

After a few minutes the blue image of the Chiss man who was the Grand Admiral of the NGE sparked to life. "Grand Admiral Mioree here. Who do I have the pleasure of speaking to?" he said. Lanna bowed her head ever so slightly. “Grand Admiral. I am Senator Shakal of Hapes.” Lanna left out her other titles such as: The Queen Mother’s appointed second in command, or Chief Advisor to the Queen Mother, and just mentioned the one that would be of any consequence to the Admiral.
“I am over Corellia with 8 Hapan Battle Dragons," she continued. "Most of the Imperial fleet seems very uncoordinated and scattered. I have brought these ships to aid you, but I will not have them fly around like deranged hawk bats. How would you like me to coordinate with your forces so we can be most efficient? If your attention must be elsewhere, I understand, and I shall contact the Empress.”

“Grand Admiral. I am Senator Shakal of Hapes.” A senator how quaint, Jalin thought to himself. “I am over Corellia with 8 Hapan Battle Dragons. Most of the Imperial fleet seems very uncoordinated and scattered. I have brought these ships to aid you, but I will not have them fly around like deranged hawk bats. How would you like me to coordinate with your forces so we can be most efficient? If your attention must be elsewhere, I understand, and I shall contact the Empress.”

That's impossible, Jalin thought. I trained those men myself to keep their cool in a fight. Ah well a man never leaves his own behind. "With all due respect Senator I'm not in charge of the fleet stationed near Corellia. They are part of the main Home fleet that escorted the Empress herself to the meetings there. I was only called in to be a part of that fleet. My personal fleet is still located in a disclosed location Near the Mygeeto system waiting for my orders. If you want I can bring the Empress in on this conversation and see If I may diverge off to gather my fleet for your aid. I've been itching for some action anyway." He gave a light smile making sure Shakal didn't see it.

He punch in the code to page the bridge. An officer came on his comlink. "How May I assist you Admiral?"

"Punch me through to the Empress I have an urgent request to speak with her at this moment concerning our fleet at Corellia."

"Yes sir. Right away sir", came the officers reply.

Jalin turned back to the console. "Now if I may ask, what is the current situation there at corellia?"
