SWP at the 1st Philippine Toy and Collectible Convention

Hey, all. As you've read in the past reports of SWP Assemblies, we have been talking about participating in the upcoming Toy and Collectible Convention.

I've just gotten confirmation from Master Jedinov yesterday that the event is finally pushing through on October 26, 2002, and will be held at the Megatrade Hall Function Rooms.

SWP will have a booth at the convention. So we need people to help us out with setting up, planning, and preparations. If you are in the Philippines and would like to help, please check back here for more details. We are planning an emergency assembly on October 5 or 6. Details on that will be posted ASAP.

Meanwhile, please post any suggestions you may have about the convention in this thread.

This will be our first official activity as an official Fanforce chapter, so we have to do good.

Oh, well, for anyone who wants to help us plan the upcoming convention, there will be an assembly this Saturday, 3PM at Podium (that's the mall at the back of Megamall). We will fill you in as to exact details later on, but please mark your calendars. Thanks.

BTW, what happened to your cute Yoda avatar? I think they switched folders eh, had to find that gorgeous Anakin avatar and reset my profile.

 

Who's willing to use his/her PC and printer to print up a couple of SWP posters and maybe 250 SWP calling cards? We have to cram into the cards all the necesary details of the group, like the Yahoo! group address, this TF.N forum and our future website.

Also, we have to make it really colorful to attract attention to our group. We can't have a plain white calling card with black colored fonts now, can we? What would that say of our little band of rebels?

We could probably buy SW movie posters to decorate our booth with, and the really serious collectors in our group could also lend a couple of their rare/unique items from their collection, like Eva's Mask of Vader action-figure case and Ginny's Jorge Sacul figure. Or if we support piracy, we could probably sell pirated AOTC movies too...

But hell, Aids' kneeling around all day in a Yoda costume is probably enough to attract everyone's attention.

 

Imperial Senator! We already have a calling card designed by Laurice before she left. It's FABULOUS. Check out the files section if you want to view it. I would gladly print them, unfortunately, my printer chose this time to bog down.

Could you write those ideas down so we can throw them on the table on Saturday?

 

I think I saw the card's design already. And if my memory serves me right, it was just a plain white card with black-colored fonts on it. It would look a lot better if we could incorporate the SWP logo on it, or maybe even my SWP-Boba Fett logo.

 

It is a plain white card with the logo on one side, and info on the other.

Hey, friends!

the convention is going along at full steam. Just to let you know, I'm part of a group called Collectibles Unlimited, the organizers for this event, and all systems are go. I just had an idea though about the Star Wars Booth. Maybe we can ask some of the more affluent members of the group to sponsor the booth. I can provide some media coverage for the convention and sponsors will definitely get some mileage from this especially SW Phil. Para lang we don't have to worry about the rental fee and other expenses like poster printing, etc. Any ideas?
By the way, each booth will be provided with just one table, 2 feet by 6 feet. We can bring other stuff like cabinets, display racks and standees, as long as we don't overshoot our area and we don't tape stuff to the walls.

As for the planning, there will be a general Assembly for SWP on October 19, afternoon, venue and exact time will be announced soon. It'll be great to see you all there.

Do you guys usually meet at The Podium? And about the upcoming convention, is there an entrance fee? And how long will they hold the convention? 1 day or till the next day which is Sunday?

 

Actually, yes, usually, we meet at Podium. It's right in the middle kasi, so fair for everyone, kasi some people come from Quezon City, and some from Makati or Manila. But one time, we did meet at Central Comic Headquarters at Katipunan.

Master Jedinov tells me, there is an entrance fee. Php30 yata. And the Con will only run for a day.

Okay folks. Final General Assembly before the Convention is this Saturday, October 19, 2002, 2PM, at Starbucks at Podium (usually, 2nd floor). We need to finalize the plans for the Con. Anyone who was assigned something (e.g. quotations, bringing equipment/merchandise, costumes, etc.), please be ready to report. And if you have other ideas, please list them down, and you'll be given the chance to bring them up during the meeting.

Master Adrian and I were able to hand in SWP's payment for the booth yesterday, and we selected Table Number 34, which is near the Public Address System Area, you will get an idea of the location when you see the floor plan on Saturday.

I heard that some newbies are going to attend. If you will need some help finding us, I suggest you leave your mobile phone number in my mailbox (jedi_ginny @ fanforce.net without the spaces), and I will get back to you.

I got an email from Janet (i think) asking for ROTJ radio drama? well, i dont have that but i do have an audio book of X-Wing Rogue Squadron radio drama. By the way, if someone's bringing tv and dvd player, i can bring my Starwoids dvd (documentary about sw fans who lined up for ep1). But i suppose most of you have that copy either. =)

of sleep. Heheh. (Sorry din, Ian. ) But the Convention was so
much fun, I wish it ran the whole weekend! Pardon me if this
post gets lengthy, but I would just like to personally acknowledge
all the people who helped to make Star Wars Philippines' official
debut as Fanforce Philippines a success...
