Those of you still in high school have no doubt heard of this. Tomorrow, Phase 1 of job action begins. Among other things, report cards will not be issued. Essential service legislation ensures there will be no strike, but there are many ways where teachers can still withhold their services, such as extra curricular activities.

    Discuss.

Oh, I guess I should give you a topic. Are the teacher's demands fair?

    Settle this aleady, government!

EDIT: This is a classic example of Socialism. It isn't pretty, is it?

Now that they have moved into phase II the teachers have sorta taken the students hostage. They have only really taken away what the students see as important and not what would affect the governments position in negotiations. The teachers have now left it up to the students and their parents to put pressure on the government and taken the pressure off themselves to make any more sacrifices for their own cause. I personally believe if you are going to take job action, don't go half way and put real pressure on your employer and shut the place down. That way the pressure is on both sides to come to a settelment. Right now the only thing affected is the students extra-curicular activities, and to be honest with you it is those activities that the students learn the real lessons of life how to work with one another and how to use the skills that they learn in school towards a productive goal.

Yes, that is precisely it. I'm being held hostage by a bunch of teachers, and I don't like it!

Hmmm anyone else planning on walking out tomorrow? Well actually the walk out tomorrow is happening in only four different areas, my school included.

And yeah I've gotta agree with the teachers, I don't think it's very fair to have 40 students crammed into the same classroom and to get rid of the ESL programs.

Our grad president cancelled it today, but I'm not going to school tomorrow anyway.

This happened today in physics, between my teacher and my best friend, a strong social democrat. I found it funny, so I wrote it down.

Teacher: It's rather disturbing. I'm starting to teach the kids of the people I graduated with.
Student: Perhaps one day you'll teach their grandchildren.
Teacher: Not if I play my economic cards right.
Friend: With the Liberals, you never know.
Teacher: Well, I'd just do something else. That's why it's important to keep your options open. You never know when you'll accidentally elect a bunch of Nazis.
