So that would make it the Census social poll? Well, it would have been appropriate :D

Oh yeah! Ferris Bueller's Day Off is a classic :D

I always crack up when they're trying to get into that high class restaurant.

    "Abe Froman. Party of three"
    *waiter laughs*
    "Is there a problem"
    "You're Abe Froman?"
    "That's right."
    "The Sausage King of Chicago?!"

    [face_laugh]

The poll could have been "Should Census have a social thread?", and the options are "yes" and "no". The first reply could have been "Oh well, regardless of how you voted, this is the census social thread". :p

I think the term "social poll" could be misconstrued.

I can't believe that one of my awful puns was used for the thread title . . . :p

I do like the idea of a "social poll", Jeff. Hehe.

This is the last place I'd have expected to find a social thread. Good idea droideka!

Well, there is a nice little community begining here in Census, so why not?

And one thing that I find incredible is that Census has finally found a community after all these years of being a backwater forum.

Yeah... there have always been forum regulars, but they have never been connected before. And another mod made a comment about how census didn't have "Regulars" and a "community" that is was just random users from all over the place, so i thought "hey, that isn't how it should be perceived!"

Exactly, droideka. If anything, it is a forum that transcends regular interest constraints - there is something for everyone here.

I must say, I'm enjoying fiddling with my colours. Much more so than I thought I would. :p

I'm still a newbie at heart, it's a bit sad, really.

Hehe. . . no, it's sad. You can say it. :p

Hey, that's an idea for a poll, Droideka! I know this isn't the thread for it, but eh.

    What do you consider yourself?

Haha. I don't think anyone could beat TwilekJedi's old colours though. They were very bright. Rhonderoo's recently enforced colours were pretty bad, too.

This is a really exciting move and step forward for this forum. Census is not just a backwater forum with a bunch of poll questions. There are regular participants here and we do hold special tournaments here that are fun to vote in. I'd still like to see a way to have the everyday user be able to create polls here but obviouslly we'd need to have a way of allocating a set number of poll posts per week to a user. Otherwise (yes we've seen it before) utter mayhem would ensue with tons of polls getting created everyday and any sort of discussion getting lost as new poll after new poll is created. Basically I'm trying to say I'm not a big fan of the "PMing a mod to create a poll here" idea, mainly because it requires too much effort and I don't want to create any more work for Tracy than she already has. Maybe there'd be a way to reward users here with poll rights for a set amount of time (like awarding colours) or if possible (I'm not sure what these IGN boards are capable of) allocate a set number of poll posts per user per week or month.
