    Mandalorians On Coruscant!

    Duchess Satine Kryze tries to keep the Republic from interfering in Mandalorian affairs after attacks by the Death Watch, the splinter group advocating a return to the old warrior ways. But when Satine herself is attacked and framed, she sets off -- against the better judgment of her Jedi protectors -- to uncover the full breadth of the conspiracy and the faction's true origins. No longer content to operate from the fringes, the mysterious Mandalorian Death Watch sets its sights on the "Duchess of Mandalore" in an all-new episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars airing at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT Friday, February 12 on Cartoon Network.

    <img src="http://www.starwars.com/theclonewars/news20100210/mandalore1_img.jpg">

    "Satine is struggling with many fires now, and trying to keep them from merging into one large inferno that can't be put out," says Anna Graves, the voice of Satine in The Clone Wars. "She wants peace above all else, and will shout it as loud as she can. Historical pacifists are often met with more hatred and violence, but that seems to push someone like Satine to fight for peace even harder. I think with any culture that idolizes war and violence, some people will naturally rebel against that traditional way of thinking and focus their efforts on peace and tranquility. I'm sure a lot of people agree with her views, but I'm sure there are just as many who don't. Her neutrality in The Clone Wars is such a beautiful cry for love and peace, which throughout history has upset those who idolize power and control."

    Set against the backdrop of a sweeping conflict which threatens to consume the galaxy, Satine's struggle is all the more personal, however, as she faces upheaval from her within own constituency. Using violence as their language of dissent, the Death Watch threatens to unravel all of Satine's efforts, and to undermine the peace she has fought so hard to preserve. But the war itself is a battle of ideologies. Despite their extremism -- or perhaps because of it -- the radical faction represents a popular opinion among the re-emerging culture... as well as decades of fan fascination and rampant speculation.

    "I see Mandalore as an old world, full of history and tradition. After years of glimpses into Mandalorian lore, it's exciting to get new facts and faces," Graves says. "Every fan has their own reasons for loving Mandalore, but Boba Fett opened the door with his intriguing armor and history as a bounty hunter. I know fans will want to hear more about Death Watch -- and those who oppose them. To be a small part of that history is so exciting. Add a little Mandalorian -- Jedi romance, and that's good stuff!"

    I was disappointed with the first, I enjoyed seeing Obi-Wan and Anakin together in the second, and hopefully it will be the same for the third.

    GG - I know you were upset they didn't go more into the Mando story last time, but I think they had to fit everything into Voyage of Temptation, since it was written a year ago or whatever.

    Now once again Death Watch will be front and center. [face_skull]

    Garth-I see your point. I'm looking forward to see more Pre Vizsla action, though. He remembered me of a weak fighter in "The Mandalore Plot", and maybe in this upcoming episode, this will be his chance of showing everyone that the Death Watch are a powerful group.

    I like your idea of killing off Satine, Garth. Would be interesting to see Obi-Wan deal with his emotions, but he's able to control them.

    The only thing that would be cooler if if a depressed Kenobi makes his way to Dex's Diner at the end of the episode. ;)

    With the same entrance dialogue that's featured in AOTC, but this time, Obi-Wan is more depressed.

    Dex: Obi-Wan!
    Obi-Wan: *sniff* Hello...Dex.

    This episode looks like it'll be a good one! This arc has been my favorite so far.

    Satine's death would be an interesting turn, I think; and not something I would object to seeing. As an EU fan, it would be fascinating to compare and contrast his reaction with her death to his with Siri's. [face_thinking]

    We got Dooku back (and not in holographic form!)! Even if he is only in it for 2 minutes, it's great seeing him plotting again. And Mando assassins on Coruscant is definitely epic.

    The animation on Dooku's face in the preview looks stunning.

    I am actually hoping that the Mandalorian Army doesn't feature too much in this episode, and rather focuses more on the assassin and Satine.

    That way, we can get an intense hunter vs hunted episode, and keep the Death Watch army for the season finale.

    I hope Satine doesn't meet her end during this episode.

    I think it would be better later on maybe next season.

    That was smart to put Dini's episode in between these two and extend the Satine/Obi-wan "romance" and draw out the Mandalorian stuff. Kept it from being too rushed.

    Interesting to see we are going back to Mandalore and even Concordia... the preview made it look like all the action took place on Coruscant.

    Man, I have a feeling this episode will have a great ending setting up for lots more stories down the road.

    Wouldn't it be stupid if Obi-wan stopped this Mandalorian threat after just three episodes? LOL.

    It definitely would.

    But I don't think Filoni and company would do that. Gives the Mandalorian's a chance to come back whenever as allies to the Separatists.

    No, just this episode with the lone Mandalorian Assassin kicking butt on Coruscant. I still reserve judgement on the rest of this debacle.8-}

    I don't think we'll see much of these two places. I imagine the whole episode will take place on Coruscant, with a brief scene in Concordia to show the Death Watch gathering or something, and then a brief scene at the end with Satine returning to Mandalore for the final shot.

    I'm okay with them being a force in the next 2 seasons; I like the dynamic and I agree it would be a shame to deal with them in the last 5 minutes of the episode.

    Garth, are you saying you think the show is only going to last two more seasons or that you only want them around for two more seasons tops?
