San Fran, CA The Forums Are Moving - UPDATE YOUR PRIVATE EMAIL ADDRESS.

So the time has come. IGN will no longer be able to support the boards, so we have to move the whole FanForce/Jedi Council forum system. If you haven't seen the announcement on top of the forum, here are some points you should be aware of:

In order to ensure you can still log into your account after the move, please make sure you have an active private email address in your profile. If you don't, you may be locked out of your account after the move!

The boards will still be on boards.theforce.net, but instead of being hosted by IGN, we will be hosted on a new server on TFN.

We are doing everything we can to make sure nothing is lost in the move. However, we can't guarantee anything. At the very least, we hope users, posts, forums, and private messages all transfer. But just in case, if there's any threads you want to save, DO SO NOW. One of the managers, DarthXan, created a thread backup program, which you can find HERE.

Also it should be noted that IGN has done the first test with the data export, so the move should occur as soon as the new forums are ready for it.

 

An additional note - from what I have heard, the forums may be offline for up to several days while the transfer takes place. So if you attempt to come to the boards and can't for a couple of days... that will be why.

From what everyone has said, it sounds like it will be sometime "soon". We have a few events coming up this month (the camping trip and the picnic) which will require communication. When the boards go down, we can use the SFFF yahoo group ML to continue communication regarding the events, as needed. So please make sure that your email address is up to date on the ML and that you check your email while the boards are offline.

Miana, is there any chance that they'll give people a heads up a bit before the boards go down for the transfer? I mean, we'll figure it out when it happens, certainly, but if there's a heads up on it then we can plan to make sure our events don't hit a hiccup.
