Wow, I havn't been back to these forums in some time... Thought I'd stop by again and say hello.. we're still doing strong since most of the MAnitoba Crowed switched forums... and we recently joined forces with the Star Wars Meetup.com group to give better access to Star Wars fans in Manitoba. Lots happening these days. Our sponsers, www.allyourbaseonline.com has been genrouse to us, and would also like me to say hello.

    Hi, Basemonger!

The Prairies forum, like the B.C. forum, was looking pretty dead so a new forum for all the Western Canadians was created for us to hang out in. You'll definately be able to reach more local people there. In fact, why not start a thread there just for Manitoba fans, to get their attention? The link to the Western Canada Forum is here.

I've seen a few folks from Manitoba around these boards in the last year, but not enough to form a FanForce chapter, so I'm sure they'd love to hear about an existing and thriving fan group in their own area...even in their own province!

Stick around, I'm sure you'll notice quite a few faces have changed in FanForce Canada and FanForce as a whole since Winnipeg's forum on these boards was shut down years ago. If there's anything we (and I know I speak for quite a few others as well) can do to improve/restore the relations between Manitoba fans and FanForce, please let us know what it is.

Great to hear from you again!

    - Rani

Rani, I know I emailed you on this already, but am posting here as promised :>

I guess I have to start monitering these forums... doing admin for MSWG means me on, like, twenty boards watching for news and people...

What I want to see, immediatly on these boards, is a sound off of active Manitoba TF.N posters. Just want to see if there the required amount for a chapter - I think that would be a good start.

...and btw, Rani... you made my day. Just got home from a root canal... so I am smiling, with some difficulty. :>

Root Canal? Ouch! Relieved to hear your day had a bright spot, flattered that it was my post, Basemonger. :)

If you're going to be checking back here more often, you may wish to start a thread over in the Western Canada Forum (linked above) that will catch the attention of people in Manitoba. I know that of all the Prairie provinces, Manitoba's the furthest East but still the Western Canada forum is where a number of Prairie people started hanging out (or at least lurking) once it was obvious that both the B.C. and Prairie general forums were too inactive to keep people's interest. You could also try starting a similar thread in the Ontario forum. Since they're neighbouring you to the East, it's possible some Manitoba users drifted there? Try also the FanForce Communications, asking for any fans in Manitoba.

In all your threads, ask users to reply publically, that way the users themselves can also find one another, and help get the ball rolling on starting a new chapter. Public replies will also keep your thread near the top of, or at least on, the first page and in people's notice as long as possible. This also helps the admins take note of how much ongoing interest there is in starting a new FF chapter, so when the time comes, their decision to create a new forum for a fledgling chapter is made much simpler.

I don't know how immediate a response you can plan to get, but keep trying! :)

BTW, I noticed on your MSWG forum that you were asking about group travel plans to CIII. I don't know what folks in Ontario are planning, but in the Edmonton chapter they've been planning a bus/van trip for some time. If they're travelling East and then South into the U.S., maybe you can hook up with them en route?

We have not had alot of activity from new prospects from the greater Manitoba area in 2004 Basemonger. Like Rani said the best way to see if there are any interested parties would be the creation of a thread such as this one and perhaps another in Ontario.

edit: In addition Basemonger, I would be very happy to see MSWG form a chapter. With C3 and EPIII around the corner there is alot to look forward to and having a group such as the MSWG here in FF Canada would be a great asset for all for us :)

    YAY, IM a Member!

    just here to say Hi.

I was born ot the force at a young age (3) and my mother was an avid fan until she started reading other stuff (silly self help books) I have read every novel of the EU **post ROTJ** . I even at one point was writing a novel myself, but then they killed off the main Char. in my book and I stopped writing, as it was not fixable.

I play a SWRPG weekly (d6) and participate in a SW Play by message board Sim (http://sovereign.allyourbaseonline.com/ghost)

    thats me.
    af
as for the used SW books, im not sure, I buy all mine new.

People had been asking about MSWG Events and where to find us, our forums, etc... while you could access it through www.allyourbaseonline.com , I suggest the quicker, more seductive path...

    http://www.allyourbaseonline.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=30770#30770

If you want to sign up for membership, CORE membership, or anything else, just contact me at aybc@mts.net or PM off the AYB page as linked above.

As we do every January, a membership shuffle will be taking place.

Active members who have logged more than 100 hours of activities (ie; 20 Events or more) get their bonus for this year - $250 in cash $250 in All Your Base gift certificates (whatever hardware or soft ware you wish at cost), and passes to Episode III.

The shuffel for JAN 2005 through JAN 2006 will now be more focused on ACTIVE members. Only CORE members will now be eligable for shuffel rewards. Free membership (ie the 300 some odd local and 700+ international) are not eligible for rewards. THATS RIGHT! no more free stuff for sitting on your butts! get active and come out!

If your wanting CORE membership, you can contact me through email at aybc@mts.net or basemonger@gmail.com , or simply visit our forums on the AYB forums at www.allyourbaseonline.com .

Well, your most certainly welcome to come to manitba... we have more than 30 events a year, your welcome to stop by.

We also have international events, some of our members contract out to work on film fics, been doing that for almost 14 years now... so who knows, anything is possible and certainly welcome.
