In response to Hamm's question that he mistakenly posted in the wrong thread (silly Hamm), Pete is definitely allowed to mimic powers of the opposition, assuming the powers in question are genetic or "hardwired into the DNA". The question is whether he could use them or not.

If he were facing a member of the Incredibles for example (and an example that came up quite a bit last draft), he would obviously be able to absorb their (genetic) power(s). However, how quickly he'd be able to learn the new ability depends entirely on what the ability is. If he's going up against Mr. Incredible, he'd just be absorbing more super strength than he already has, so one could naturally assume he'd learn and be able to use the power pretty quickly. If he were up against Violet though, and absorbed the ability to create forcefields, he (just as Violet originally did) would probably have a good deal of trouble producing them, and I personally wouldn't give him credit for that power. And that's without mentioning the fact that he doesn't even know there is an ability out there for him to experiment with.

If they're on the same team though, that's an entirely different story. For absorbable abilities, I think the 24 hours would be more than enough time for Pete to figure out how to use the new powers, assuming he had the help of the absorbee's.

 

I would like to point out though, the one thing about Peter is that his mind seems to know when to use the powers and when not to. When he first learns a power it is usually manifests it self the first time when he really needs it. So there is chance of him instinctively using it. I think this happened the first time he used TK

I'm kind of surprised myself. Ah well.

 

So far so good.

And even though we can't be 100% sure without seeing the entire movie, it's seems clear enough from the trailers alone, and it absolutely sucks that Hancock is, almost without a doubt, going to be too powerful to add to the list for the next draft.

 

Yeah, it does suck, he'd be a fun add. Way, way, way too much though.

On a side note, it looks like it might actually be a pretty solid movie.

 

Will Smith movies are usually solid. Not that one actor can make an entire movie good or bad.

It looks like fun, in any case.

 

I'm not really a huge fan of his, but he's pretty consistent, and he does a decent job mixing up his roles.

 

A man who makes seven (and counting!) consecutive $100m films certainly demands respect. It helps that they stretch across a broad range of genres.

 

Yeah he is one of the biggest stars in World that is for sure. And as I am Legend showed, he can carry a movie by himself

 

Completely agree with Talon. Also, Hancock looks brilliant.
