Well, what did you think of them?

I personally thought both movies were good yet the second seemed to be lacking somehow.

Another thing: why on Earth did the Egyptians put that curse on Hemotept in the first place? Why couldn't they just mummify him alive?

Mummy was bad. Mummy Returns was awful. Scorpion King is apparently so bad they had to go back and do nearly 10 million dollars worth of reshooting.

I think the idea was Imhotep suffered the worst fate imaginable. However, the downside is if he's ever released, he gets all those super powers.

The first one was okay. I haven't seen the second one. The trailer looks ridiculous:

    "oh, I hate mummies!"

    "Not these guys AGAIN!"

Who wrote the dialog? Akiva Goldsman?

The words and sentences have to be short enough for Brendan Fraser to remember. Kind of limits the whole experience.

I liked both. Not the most thoughtful movies ever made, but they were fast paced and fun IMO.

The 4-disc DVD set of both films available in R2 & R4 is superb on both counts.

I thought the Mummy was okay, but I really liked the second one a lot more. Why didn't they have that kid play Anakin!?

When I saw the trailer for The Scorpion King for the first time, I didn't know it was the prequel to the Mummy. I just figured it was some crazy person's scheme to milk off the Mummy series's success...I might go see it though, it doesn't look all that bad.

I loved them both. I liked the second better. The end battle was awsome.

I think one of the big reasons I liked the second Mummy movie better was that there were far fewer scarab beetles. Those things were freaky...

And I did love the final battle! :D

    The end battle was awsome.

Are you kidding? It was awful! A huge amount of these apparently terrible enemies comes, and every last one of them gets destroyed, and then all the good guys are standing there cheering, and there's not a single body, not a drop of blood, on this terrible battlefield after this horrible battle. And why did that bigger horde of CGI badguys start so much farther away from the van? In a situation like that it would've been much more efficient to mob the good guys. And the battle inside the battle was equally pathetic. I must admit I liked the two chicks and the stupid guy duking it out, but the thing between Imhotep, Fraser and the eight-legged freak was ridiculously stupid (I'm not even referring to the CGI), just all the moves were entirely unrealistic.

And the scarab beetles I had no problem with, but it was so stupid the way they ran around under the skin.

I enjoyed both. I like the first one better. I appreciate its humor. The second I like mostly because of Rachel Weisz's character: I really enjoy tough, kick butt women in film, so it was great to see her be more aggressive. I missed the humor of the first film, though. And the effects were pretty awful in TMR. Every time someone asks me why it takes three years to do a SW film, I point them to TMR. "That's what happens when you try to do it in two years." They're not great movies, but I find them entertaining.

I don't like her character much, but she's sure got a fine body...

`Why didn't they have that kid play Anakin!?'

I like Jake Lloyd myself, But I see where you're comming from.

The second film was far better, than the dull first one, but only IMO.

Actually, the kid I really think should have done Anakin was that blonde kid in Star Trek: Insurrection. I can't remember his character's name right now...

i haven't seen the second movie myself but heard it was a little lacking. I liked the first movie though and while it's not a deep movie it was worth the money.
