What another tragedy with the Americans ripping off such a classic series!

just watched it and it was so so bad!!!! How could they rip off a classic series so poorly? Almost word to word in some scenes.

Relax, PoT. It was a quote (or paraphrasing at least) from The Office.

The Boss (I love the actor though) is more of a character from a sitcom, whereas the original was real and far more recognisable, which is what made the sucess of the original amongst audiences.

Saying that though, perhaps the U.S version is catered and more recognisable amongst American audiences.

Australians though will find much more enjoyment from the original being that our core cultures have more similarities.

Never anything but relaxed. ;) Thanks for the sub-titles, I'm less Office literature than I should be.

Ricky Gervase (Brenty from the UK series) and the guy he wrote it with sold the rights to remake 'The Office' for the American market. It is weird how the US won't touch anything made overseas, and it is probably reflected by a large American audience who simply wouldn't watch anything that wasn't made in the US.

It's sad, really, that it is this way. A pilot for the UK series Red Dwarf was also made under the 'Remade for the US' banner, and it died on its arse because it is usually the actors' interpretation of characters that makes a show, rather than the actual writing. I foresee that this will be the case for the US remake of The Office.

And what is even sadder, will be the Australian audience who never watch the ABC who will 'bandwagon' on to the US series, and say it is the funniest orginal series ever that Channel 10 has shown. "Hey guys, have you seen this new show called 'The Office' - that Brenty is pretty funny hur hur"
