It is on as we speak. And it suddenly got very interesting, indeed.

Indeed. Kenny Perry still in the lead, but Tiger and Phil are both 6 under today and only 1 back. Perry's still got 7 holes to go, though.

EDIT: Campbell birdies #12 to move to -10 and one back as well.

Phil has missed three very makeable puts on the back nine, two for birdie and one for eagle, that will probably cost him the tournament.

I'm not a fan of Phil, I have to say.

Talk about an anticlimactic ending for this pair.

Still a great day for them, despite combining for +3 over the last two holes.

Perry leading by 2, but he did just have a poor chip shot. And did I hear the announcers correctly in saying that if he holds on, he would be the oldest Masters champion?

EDIT: and we have a playoff!

What a clutch chip by Perry on the first playoff hole.

Now we're going to playoff #2.

Great job by Cabrera, though I feel bad for Perry after he bogeyed the final two holes in regulation and the final playoff hole.

This was a meltdown, certainly, but not of the same caliber as Van de Velde's blowing a 3-stroke lead in the final hole in '99. Still, Perry's got to be feeling pretty upset with himself.

    No kidding.

I hope they had a green jacket from Mr. Big and Mr. Tall.

It's a shame that Perry didn't win. Also a shame that Woods and Phil didn't finish strong.

Yeah, a five-way playoff would be great...

Finishing strong doesn't mean they would have been part of a playoff. It just means that they would have been a factor while the leaders were playing their final holes. Due to their collapse, they weren't. For me it really deflated the excitement.

yea, i remember the last time the open was there. two people under par in the end unless i'm misremembering. considering the caliber of players in that, numbers like that are obscene.

Nearly everybody struggled. Except Tiger, of course.

The US Open is by far my least-favorite major. It lacks the beauty and pageantry of the masters, the uniqueness and history of the British, and the culmination of the season of the PGA. Not to mention, when I watch Golf, I want to watch the players hit amazing shots and shoot amazing scores. If I want to watch guys consistently hitting it out of the rough and the hazards, I'll go to the neighborhood course and shoot some myself. It seems as if they always ratchet up the difficulty a bit too much in the US Open, and that just removes a bit of the appeal for me.

Except, of course, when it's at Pebble Beach, the third best course in the world.

The US Open definitely prefers the insanely tough courses, and I really don't understand why. Some of those courses are almost ridiculous in how difficult they are.

PGA is my least favorite. No idea why it is considered a major except out of habit.

uh... not strictly true. he was hitting it out of the rough more often than not. and he was going farther out into it than most.
