If one is falling while standing on an object that is falling, could a person jump off that object before the moment of impact and land without getting hurt?

 

Ok, now you are freaking me out. I have wondered that since I was a little kid myself. The only way to answer that is to find out. The hard way.

(as for the "jumping off the object at the point of impact", you're still travelling mighty fast, like jumping off a bike... but you could probably shave off some speed.... time for science project.... much like "Matt's Project" - the current script I'm finishing up...

Why is it that you can drop a bug like an ant from the top of your house and it wont get hurt when it hits the ground even though in size comparison that would be like us falling from the Empire State building, but if we fell off that same roof, it would not be very healthy for us?

 

I don't know about all bugs but an ant will reach terminal velocity at 4 inches... therefore no matter how far it falls... it's only a 4 inch drop to the ant.
