~The Star Wars Saga Forum Banner Contest~ (Time's Up!)

Hey all. We've always had the same banner, how 'bout we change it?

So we are having a SWS Banner Contest!

We are taking submissions for a banner for the Saga Forum. It has to be a banner that in some way shows a link between all the films in the Saga. We are taking submissions from today June 19 to July 5 12:00 am board time.

There will be ONE winner. The winning banner will be chosen a panel of moderators. The winning banner will be applied to the Saga Forum.

You may post your entries in this thread. Final entries have to be sent to me by PM.

With that said I do not think we should change this banner. It is my personal belief that this forum has the greatest banner on the JC. I really would hate to see it go. I have talked to several others and they also like the current banner. I never get tired of looking at our current banner and do not want to see it go.

I like it, but its certainly time for a change. This one has been up for about 16 months now.

 

I also favor this banner as well, but it's nice to see some effort generated into trying to get some new members to post here.

I like this banner too, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try something new!

And even if we do change banners, this will always live on in our memories...


Boy, that was cheesy!

 

I have come to the choice that instead of having a panel of mods choose the banner, we, the regulars of this forum, as a community will choose the new banner or stay with the current one.

Here's what we'll do.

When the competition runs its course and (if) we get any entries, I'll display them in a thread for all of us to see, including our current banner. I want then that you all vote for your favorite one, even if your fav is the current one.

Now, I want YOU to vote, not people from other forums or socks, YOU the users of this forum. For that reason, I want you to vote in a posts, not in an anonymous poll. If you have any concern about this, feel free to speak up, okay?

Once again, thanks to all of you for making this forum the most enjoyable forum of the JC and this community the most welcoming and close that I've seen in these forums.

 

I should be PMing you my entry in a day or two Spike. I'm almost done with it.

 

Here's what I have so far. The bakcground image isn't done yet though and this is still a work in progress. Comments and suggestions are always welcome.

I like that. I think that banners that have the light/Dark balance do better, and yours captures that quite well. Good job so far.

My attempt. It's trying to focus just on the Skywalker family.

 

Here is my attempt. I tried to get as many of the reoccuring (be it OT, PT, or both) characters in. I also re rotoscoped obiwans saber so it looked a little better. I used Boba and Jangos helmets as right and left holders. And anakins saber profile for the left bar.

Just to announce that the deadline for submissions has been moved to Sunday July 25. I decided to do this since I am leaving for a trip the day after the contest was going to end. (See details in my post at the Rules & Announcements thread )

It's still incomplete, as some iconic moments from the saga will be inserted into the background in a cinematic way.

 

i think the banner here is fine (except for the falcon's radar dish being on the wrong side).

i say we take our chances and keep it.

I like to keep things simple, I don't dig crowded banners with too much blending and nothing but close-up shots.

That looks really good so far jacemathem. My only gripe with it is that I don't like the pink tint everything has. But thats just a personaly preference I guess, I generally don't like it when banners are all one color, especially red. Maybe a light blue instead?

Also, do you know of any good places for relatively clear OT character pics? I've already looked here. I can't find a Luke I really like. I hate the one in my banner now.

 

Wow, jace. That is really good. My advice is keep it simple, don't let it get crowded. Your second design is just about perfect.

 

Good work so far Jace. I especially like your choice of pictures for Anakin and Padme.
