Why don't you just make up a ship?

    It's a lot easier.

The time of the Yuuzhan Vong invasion, maybe around Destiny's Way

If it helps, my fanfic is an AU story, in which all major star wars characters are still alive, including the emperor and darth Vader, but it's still during the Vong invasion.

Some kind of small-ish fast freight then

yeah, small and fast, but modified to hold the 4 xwings and only 10 or so people.

That's the problem. Lot's of cargo haulers could handle 4 x-wings and 10 people and don't need a 100 person crew, but those are unarmed and slow.

I've got a couple ships for you.

    First the stock light freighter.
This Corellian-built stock light freighter was among the most common small trading vessels operating in the known galexy. At one time, this class of ship was the backbone of interglalactic trade. While stock light freighters are still in use, many companies have turned to large bulk freighters and container ships to move their wares. These vessels come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but all are built around the basic design of a command pod, storage holds, and engines.
And some great shields, engines, and weapons, and you're set. It sounds really small, and it gives you a lot of range to describe it.
("Star Wars sourcebook," Bill Slavicsek and Curtis Smith)

    Also, a Strike-class medium cruiser.
This Imperial bad boy can be manned by an exceptionally small crew (such as ten), and is 450 meters long. Along with it's shields, it's cargo hold can easily be accomadated to hold a commplete spuadron of TIEs or about half a dozen X-WINGS. But one of it's best caratristics is it's armorery. It is defended, and it attacks, with 20 turbolasers, ten turobolaser batteries, ten ion cannons, and ten tractor beam projectors.

You could modify a Xiytiar-class freighter.

That's what the Wraiths used in Iron Fist.

You could boost the specs and add some weaponry.

And it doesn't require a big crew IIRC.

Those are some great ideas. But keep them rolling in. The more the merrier.
