The Forest of Death

The scroll of sealing. It was hard not to have heard of Konoha's legendary scroll, and even harder if one lived in the village. Containing so many legendary and forbidden techniques, it was always a prize to anyone wanting to test Konoha's skill and patience. Unlucky for this ninja Zurui and four others were tailing, they'd long since run out of patience. Pursuit like this always made Zurui shiver with anticipation. This was what being a ninja was all about to him. Glancing around, however, it hardly felt fair to the lone ninja they were pursuing. Aside from Yuki and Kenji were two that held great reputations amongst the leaf: the Chuunin Osuka and the Jounin Chenzura. With these four, along with himself, there really would be no way for the enemy to escape.

?Leaf Ninja pfft they?re so pathetic. The rumors are true the war did leave them weak and vulnerable. They are just ripe for the picking..? the enemy stated as they closed on him. How stupid and arrogant, Zurui noted. He was so consumed by his own premature celebration that he didn't even realize we were closing.

?Is that so?? Osuka called from behind, startling the enemy and allowing for the others to surround him on all sides except for down. This didn't escape the, Zurui now noticed, Rock ninja's notice as he leapt down and announced "Earth Release: Earth Shore Return" as soon as he noticed the leaf ninja were following him down.

Stupid, Zurui thought to himself as the dome of rock enveloped them. How could they have allowed themselves to even be delayed slightly by this. Zurui was preparing to crumble the dome with a lightning technique when he noticed that Chenzuri had already made a small hole. Well, no need to waste chakra needlessly then, he thought to himself as he followed the rest through the hole.

Once on top, Chenzuri suggested that they form up in the same formation as before, this time with an emphasis on going low. It wasn't long at all before they had caught the enemy again, having already proven they were far more adept at traveling this terrain than him. Osuka came in with three shadow clones from different directions.

Not one to be upstaged again, Zurui came in from behind and below, already making the hand seals, he waited until Osuka made his own attack. "Blade of Wind", Zurui announced as he launched a piercing attack just as the three Osukas reached their own destination. If all went well, all four attacks would be too much for the enemy. However, Zurui was already scanning for any signs of counterattack or kawarimi.

Tatsuya stood, watching all of the loving families say goodbye to their children. Watching all of the proud parents sending their children off to learn how to use their talents and become the future of the village. He watched as everyone, even the Seventh, wished their children the best of luck and hugged and kissed, and generally embarrassed their kids with affection. While the other kids moved away, and became annoyed at their parents unwillingness to let them go, Tatsuya found himself wishing his dad cared enough anymore to even come to his own son's induction to the academy. But it wasn't to be, not since a few years after his mother died when Sasuke had finally just stopped careing. It just was not meant to be. Sniffing back some tears that had welled up in his eyes, Tatsuya forced himself to stand proud. He had to uphold the honor of the Uchiha, after all. He sank back down a little as he realized that uphold wouldn't really be the case as much as helping to restore its lost honor. Letting out an unsure sigh, Tatsuya knew he'd have to work extra hard in order to not only meet expectations but exceed them as well.

As he entered the Academy, Tatsuya noticed Uzumaki Jiraiya glaring at him. Sighing with frustration, Tatsuya merely walked on in and took a seat in the back of the cl

Ninja Academy, Grand Opening, 1st day of class

There were a large group of children and parents crowded outside the newly established ninja academy. Sato Manami stood amongst them, her blue-green eyes taking in her surroundings. Although she was excited to finally be commencing her ninja training, she was also a little nervous.

As she looked at the various families that were dotted around about her, she did not mind that her grandfather Yuu was not there too see her off. He had planned on attending, but had woke up with a slight cold, so Manami insisted he stay home and she would see him later that day and tell him all about her first day as an academy student. Her eyes then settled on another academy student who also looked like was there alone. He also looked deep in thought. It was then she recognised the family crest on his clothing as he moved away. It was the symbol of the Uchiha clan.

When it was time to enter the academy, Manami followed the many students inside. As she made her way into classroom, she noticed the honourable hokages son Jiraiya scowl at the Uchiha boy before they took their seats. There was already a clear rivalry between them both, that was for sure.

Finding a seat of her own, she sat a row behind Jiraiya as the remainder of the students found their places. Their sensei had not yet arrived, so Manami had a quick glance around at her classmates. A boy in a straw hat, a boy wearing what looked like some type breathing apparatus and boy who had a wolf dog puppy with him were among the new generation of students.

The sensei Umino Yoshio then entered and began to explain the ranks of the Ninja. She had a slight knowledge of the Ninja ranks, as her own brothers had once been Jounin. But she listened intently as Yoshio Sensei explained the path to becoming a Jounin and then the mission classifications. It felt good to be here, Her journey to become a ninja was finally beginning.

Her hair is long, down to her hip, and she often pulls it up, when she's in the forest. Alone, she likes to let it hang lose. OOC: Sorry for double post...wanna get into CLASS!!

    Cho-tana Hakkai
Ninja Academy, 1st Day of Class

Cho-tana skipped quickly down the road, on the way towards th Ninja academy. She could already see in the distance that a large crowd of people standing outside of its doors. Her shoes swung from a small peg on her belt, as she moved quickly down the road. She was very excited. It was the first day of the Ninja academy. She had been waiting what felt like forever, for this day. She wiggled her toes, as she skipped down the road.

As she sped for the academy, she could see that there were some adults there as well. Parents, probably. It didnt bother her, that she was alone. The family that had raised her, were elderly, and she didnt want them to worry. Now, when GRADUATION came, yes, that would be a good time to make such a long trip. But this was something she could do on her own. They have given her extra food to take with her, and have given her a rousing send off. Mara had actually cried. Cho, smiled at the memory, they had nearly choked her hugging her before sending her off. It was the first time she was going someplace with people she had never known before. That was exciting, but a little scary. But if she was going to be a ninja, then now was a good time to get used to such things. Still...it would have been nice if she knew SOMEONE. Another girl, a friend of hers was supposed to join her, but she had been hurt, and now had to wait an season before she could join her at the academy. Cho-tana had felt so badly for her. Cho promised that she would write her, if she was allowed, and let her know what to expect.

She looked up, and saw that the doors was opening wide now, so she took to running. It would NOT be very well, to show up late. While she wanted to make an impression, she didnt want to make the wrong one... and some teachers she heard were strict. Cho-tana nearly flew the rest of the way.

As the last student was entering, she paused just long enough to slip on her sandals. She hated wearing shoes, but she didnt think it would be polite to NOT wear them just yet. She slipped in, a few seats away from some boy, with a dog and a girl with bright red hair, and red pants. She had not seen bright red hair before, and that was facinating to her. Dusting off her pants and tunic, she quickly moved to find herself a seat, and removed her traveling hat. She had barely caught her breath, when she heard a voice boom out.

?Silence! Everyone please take your seats.?

Cho watched as a Sensai came into the room, and then listened silently, as Yoshio sensei described the different levels and ranks. Med Ninja sounded interesting...she wasnt familiar with those. But there would be plenty of time to find what possibilities were for her. Right now, she was just glad to be here.

    Ninja Academy

Nikorasu made his way nervously up the steps of the ninja academy. His heart was racing. His father had told him that everything would be alright. He had faith in his son, and that comforted some. However, Nikorasu hoped that there were far less people in the academy than were present outside. It had taken Nikorasu ten minutes to simply make himself go through the crowd to the academy. He hated it. It wasn't rational, and it was downright stupid. Why was it so hard to be around people? He didn't know. His father hoped that by interacting with his fellow ninja-to-bes would help to break him of this fear of people.

Nikorasu slipped into the class without drawing much attention to himself. The other students seemed absorbed in each other or their own thoughts, so it was not a hard feet to accomplish. He quickly took a seat farthest from the rest of the students, off near the corner. He folded his arms across his chest and sunk down into the seat, withdrawing into himself.

Anger welled up inside of him. He wanted to socialize like the others. He enjoyed speaking to people. However, he just couldn't make himself talk when there were more than a few people around. He began to think about anything that he could grasp onto to keep his mind away from thinking about the others in the class.

Nikorasu watched as several more students shuffled in. The class was not particularly large, but it was still outside of his comfort zone. He glanced around, and only recognized a couple of the faces. He didn't know many people his age. Truthfully, he didn't know many people period. His years of self-imposed seclusion saw to that. However, from his reading, he knew of a few of the people here.

His thoughts were interrupted as the sensei called the class and began illustrating the rankings of the ninja. Nikorasu knew them, and didn't pay too close of attention. Nikorasu's apprehension kept growing as he hoped the teacher would do nothing to call attention to him.

OOC: Cemerox, just to let you know that all the shadow clones within the trees and branches will be nullified but the clones that are connected to your jutsu is still intact.

Due to very few Lightning techniques the one used in this scenario is a created one for the Rock ninja character.

    The Forest of Death, Konoha

Zooming through the forest as fast as he can, Fukui Toru knew it was only a matter of time before the Leaf Ninja broke through the dome of the earth release jutsu that he had placed on them. It was only meant as an obstacle to give him time to escape and give distance between himself and them. He wasn?t sure how much time it would give. He hoped he had seen the last of those pitiful Leaf Ninja. This scroll that he had placed in his pouch was going to be the start of reviving his clan and the end of the Leaf Village.

His village was completely destroyed from a war that the Village Hidden in the Leaves had started with the Village Hidden in the Rock. Toru was just a small child, but he remembered oh so well about certain events, especially the circumstances surrounding his clan. Rock Village had once had an alliance with the Leaf Village and it appeared to be a mutual understanding between the two nations. Until the Rock Village were betrayed and the alliance broken by the Leaf. They came in and massacred several populated areas including Toru?s family compound. If it wasn?t for his grandfather who hid him away from the violence that inflamed the village, Toru would have been dead as well.

Clearing the painful memories away Toru continued on his escape. ?The border must not be too far away, I just need a little more time.?

But time appeared to not be on his side. As he was making his escape, the Leaf ninja were doing the same. Completely surrounded by the earth style dome, Chenzura took the lead by creating a hole through the dome from his blade that had been infused with his wind chakra. Now out of the dome Chenzuro barked out commands to the other ninja.

"Kenji, Yuki, Zurui, Osuka. Flanking pattern, you guys go low and distract him, I'm taking the high road to cut him off. Kenji you take the thief's left, Yuki his right, Zurui follow him from behind, Osuka from below."

He then summoned an eagle and climbed on to his back. Chenzura and the eagle flew away toward the direction of the Rock ninja. As Chenzura flew away Osuka went into his Konohagakure Sun Dance that has three phases to it as well as clones. After getting in to formation the Chuunin took off with his clones with Zurui, Yuki and Kenji in flanked position.

Looking behind his shoulder to see if he still had the distance he hoped, Toru saw several of the Leaf Ninja in flanked position running at full speed. He then noticed something that was right above him in the sky. It was a large eagle that appeared to have someone on it. From the distance Toru wasn?t sure who it was but he had an inkling that it might be one of the Leaf Ninja.

Knowing that he wasn?t going to out run then like he hoped. Toru knew he had to think of something far more productive than the last jutsu he performed. The Leaf ninja were closing in on him. ?You will not catch me so easily Leaf Ninja. You obviously do not know me very well.?

He knew he had to take care of the ninja on the ground before trying to take out the ninja up above. He motioned his hands in to hand signs and yelled out.

Earth Release: Split Earth Turn Around Palm.

The ground began to crumble as trees started to fall in to the split of the earth that was created by the jutsu. The split of the earth surrounded the ninja then made the ground that they were on falter in an instance. Yuki fell in to the pit of the ground as if it was quicksand. It started to crush him as it was burying him alive. His comrades were unable to save him for they had their own troubles with the ground starting to take then under as well.

Chenzura then leapt off the egales back. "Rescue the others. I've got this one." he said to the eagle, Washi-sama then dove to snatch the falling and sinking comrades in his powerful talons. The eagle then placed them out side the range of the jutsu. "You've angered the wrong shinobi Iwa-nin." he added. "Water Clone Jutsu!" he shouted. A jet of water then shot forth from him and created a corporeal second version of himself. "Water Prison Jutsu." he added, almost instantly a sphere of water surrounded the fleeing shinobi, trapping him in a suffocating embrace. "Stay there, or I won't even resist the urge to kill you." he said as he leapt over to his water clone's side. He then performed two of the three handsigns for his ultimate technique. "Don't give me a reason to finish this sequence." he added as he waited for his comrades to make it over to him. "If I do your chances of survival are about five hundred thousand to one." he added staring intently into the Stone ninja's eyes.

GM Note: Just a reminder that the GM controls all NPC's. Also to make sure that everyone isn't doing their biggest jutsu and being the only one to be the hero and so on. We dont want jutsu's to cancel out others unless they work together, maybe PM each other out a strategy if you can. Now in the scenario i made it is fine that Chenzura saves the others and becomes the one that captures the thief. It's what i expected. This is just a tid bit for future scenarios.:)

    Of Uzumaki Jiraiya
    Ninja Academy

Jiraiya cracked his neck. He had seen his father accomplish similar feats. He bounced on the balls of his feet. Jiraiya had this. It would be as simple as Yoshio had shown. He ignored his sensei?s last query and stalked straight over to a tree. Jiraiya stood before it and cracked his neck again, then rolled his shoulders. Jiraiya glanced at his feet. He closed his eyes.

In his head, he envisioned himself doing as he had been told. His fingers twitched. Jiraiya watched himself run up the tree, over and over. He replayed the thought in his mind. His eyes opened. Jiraiya?s expression hardened as he stared at his legs. His hand grabbed a kunai from his pouch. He tightened his grip around the weapon. He closed his eyes, for a second time, and sought out the power that Yoshio had spoke of.

Finding his physical energy was simple. He could feel it in every action. He could feel it all the time, it was at his fingertips. The spiritual chakra eluded Jiraiya. He hunted for it. He scoured his mind for the source of such a well. His father had told him of how he himself went about drawing chakra. He had to travel deep into his sub-conscious. Jiraiya did so.

He removed himself from the outside world and fully entered his mind. He walked a familiar path. The scenery was different, but the path was the same. It was the path outside his home. He walked it nearly every day. It made him wonder if finding his chakra was such an occurrence as walking a path.

Everything seemed ghostly, pronounced and vibrant. He noticed nothing, yet nothing escaped his focus, on his dark gait. Before him, grew a spring. A small pool of golden water; it swirled of its own accord. Jiraiya walked slowly to it, his feet gliding over the dirt. His fingers grazed the water and he felt it. His eyes opened, his head still bent, Jiraiya saw golden light enveloping his feet.

Quickly, surely, Jiraiya flew at the tree, his legs moved separate his body. They were soon make contact with the trunk. His first steps took him gradually up, by his fourth, he was parallel to the ground. For a moment, he felt free of all restrictions, as if he could do anything. And, in the same instance, Jiraiya?s concentration slipped. And, he could feel himself losing balance. Jiraiya had begun his descent, before he recalled the kunai.

Still falling, he whipped his arm out and threw the knife at the spot his foot had last touched. A small Thud! signaled its stop. Jiraiya rolled in the air and landed unbalanced on his feet. He nearly fell to the ground, but instead staggered and remained upright. He looked up. The knife showed his mark at 23 ft. It was four feet to the top of the Sugi.

The attacks weren't enough, obviously, as the Rock ninja used one of the clones to take on the blade of wind, before firing off a lightning jutsu at Chenzura and making his way back to the ground again.

This isn't good, the ground is his domain, Zurui thought as he quickly lept into the trees.

"Earth Release: Split Earth Turn Around Palm!" The rock ninja called, and just as quickly the ground began to erupt and swirl around like a spiral of quicksand. The trees began to be pulled inside. Zurui noticed too late that Yuki had been pulled under. There was nothing he could do as he heard the screams of his comrade before they were silenced. Kenji was also still on the ground, being pulled under when he heard Chenzura say, "Rescue the others. I've got this one."

No sooner had his comrade made that statement had the Eagle come swooping in, grasping Kenji in its talons and lifting him into the air. Zurui, however, had been quickly leaping from tree to tree, making sure to stay above the sand and danger.

"You've angered the wrong shinobi Iwa-nin. Water Clone Jutsu!" Zurui heard Chenzura yell.

This is no good, Zurui thought to himself, He's getting too caught up in the moment. If I don't get up there soon, he's going to do something he'll later regret.

Sure enough, by the time Zurui was out of the radius of the earth jutsu, he saw and heard Chenzura capture the rock ninja inside of a water prison. And was beginning to power up his trademark jutsu. "Don't give me a reason to finish this sequence. If I do your chances of survival are about five hundred thousand to one."

Quickly, Zurui pulled out his fan and used the gust of wind to help power his leap, using the one jump to reach the point where Chenzura and the enemy were located. As he was in the air, he made the simple signs and announced "Electric Cage!" as he landed beside Chenzura. The enemy was now surrounded not only by the ball of water, but a square prison of lightning as well. The electricity sending pulses to his body. With a sigh, Zurui turned to Chenzura, "Put that technique away. Loss in battle is no reason to let emotion cloud your judgement."

    Uchiha Tatsuya
    Ninja Academy

Tatsuya couldn't control his emotions as they walked outside. To think they'd get to this kind of excercise on their first day. He couldn't believe his luck. The one piece of praise that he could remember his father ever giving him was that he had greater chakra control than he did at Tatsuya's age. It was what had allowed Tatsuya to prove to his father that he could perform the Uchiha's fireball technique, even though it had done nothing but get his father to allow him to enter the academy. No praise, no fatherly gesture. Just a piece of paper stating that he was allowed the enter the academy as an Uchiha. He'd spent a full year practicing by himself on that technique, and it had done nothing.

But this was different. All he had to do was mimic what the sensei showed them. Focus his chakra to his feet...and sure enough, the blue glow surrounded his feet. Choosing a tree and brandishing his kunai, Tatsuya took a running start and made it to a low branch on his first try. As he felt himself run up the tree he began to become too excited and lost the focus he'd held on his feet. This was much harder than he had thought it would be. Marking the spot, he lept for the branch and held on tight. Using his arms, he lifted himself onto the branch and began to survey. Not only was he nowhere near the top of his tree, but he hadn't even made it up halfway yet. This was definitely going to be harder than he thought.

Jumping down from the branch, he made his way back to the position he'd started at before. Focusing once again on his feet, he regained his control and made another run at his tree. This time, he kept up his momentum and his composure. There would be no mistake lik

    Cho-tana Hakkai
    Chakra Training, Ninja Academy

Everyone stayed silent about the first part of the lesson on rank and missions, so Yoshio Sensei moved on to the next part. He looked around the room, before he began to to speak.

?Very well since there are no questions on the ranks we will now learn about chakra.? Yoshio walked over to a picture of a body with all it?s circulatory system showing. He then turned toward the class and started to explain. The chart reminded Cho-tana about the medicine charts she had seen and worked with before.

?Understanding chakra is essential. It?s a ninjas source of power. Chakra is the elemental life energy that a ninja uses in jutsu. Energy has two forms. Physical energy which exits in all the cells of the entire body. The other is Spiritual energy, which is the primal source of power that is intensified with training and experience. The two types of energy must be drawn out and brought together to be able perform jutsu. Hand signs help focus and unleash the chakra.?

?Will all of you please follow me. We are going to take this lesson outside.?
Outside? Excited, Cho followed the other students out of the classroom, to what looked like a playground area. He led them toward several large trees. When he finally stopped the students were located within the area, which looked like a place for picnics. Yoshio quieted everyone down. Cho-tana looked around.

? I know you all must be wondering what we are doing here. Theses trees are used to help train. They are particularly useful to help draw out your chakra as well as help control it. The first thing you must do is focus all your thoughts on your feet. Your feet will be the center in which your chakra will be flowing through for this task. Each situation your center may be different so your focus will be different. Right now it?s your feet." He paused. ?Climbing a tree is our first training it sounds funny I know, but you must do it with no hands.? Cho-tana had seen it done before, but she had never done it. This sounded exciting.

?Im going to give an example as to what your going to do, then all of you will do the same and continue it. This will be a homework assignment as well for those who have not accomplished this task at the end of the day.?

Yoshio put both hands together while sticking up two fingers up to the bridge of his nose and closed his eyes. Slowly, Cho-tana could see that a blue energy appeared around the sensei's feet. Yoshio opened his eyes and then steadily ran up on to the tree that was in front of him. He continued to go up several feet up in the air on the bark of the tree. Then he walked on to a branch, then stood upside down and stared downward toward his students.

WOW! She had never seen someone go THAT hight up a tree. He didnt even slow down.

?You see what I did, by focusing on my feet the chakra allowed me to be able to get up this high off the ground doing what most people would think is impossible. In the ninja world impossible is not a word that is used often." Walking down the way he came Yoshio came back on to the ground. Cho-tana thought THAT was even MORE impressive.

?Now everyone find a tree, get your kunai out and mark the height you reach on each attempt on the tree until you have reached the top. If you do not have a kunai I will give you one.? Cho-tana reached behind her, and pulled out her simple knife.

?Does everyone understand or need help.??

Before she could even think of a question, it looked like two boys in the group had already knew what to expect of the class. The first one shot up the tree, almost making it to the top, before he lost concentration and fell back. His dagger flew to mark the spot he reached. The other boy, if he was not at the very top, he was close. She frowned, as she watched them. Maybe they had taken this class before? Making sure her hair was pulled tightly up, she looked at her own tree. She wiggled her feet out of her shoes, and felt the warm earth and grass on her toes.

    IC: Hashimoto Nyuubai

    Chakra Training, Ninja Academy

Hashimoto, like many of the other students, made his way outside almost eager to learn the basics of chakra. Not being a native of this village, perhaps it was something that was different for each Hidden Village. The Mist ninja must be doing something different then the Cloud ninja and etcetera, although Hashimoto had never seen another ninja during the course of their own training, he was among Leaf ninja. He would train as they did.

They entered a playground area where Yoshio-sensei put his fingers to the bridge of his nose and focused chakra to his feet. Nyuubai watched with interest, after hearing how the lesson would be explained. His lavender eyes flickered as he watched Yoshio sprint forwards and climb up the tree with ease. Beneath the rebreather and hidden from everyone, except for the slightest movement of his cheeks to show he was smiling, Nyuubai thought back to his time spent with his father on their ship many years ago.

?Now Nyuubai-kun, what we're going to do now is make sure that the sails are secured to the mast. Just watch me and do as I do,? Nyuubai's father Yuuta explained as his hands formed yet another symbol that he had been taught. While Nyuubai had a hard time understanding them at his young age, he managed to mimic them well, albeit a lot slower due to just being a new student.

Yuuta put his fingers in the form of the ?ram? symbol, and he smirked opening his eyes after focusing chakra to his feet. ?Look at my feet, Nyuubai-kun,? His father said, and as his lavender eyes trailed to his father's feet, he could see the blue outlines of energy focused around them. ?As long as you focus, you can do many things, especially walk upon water.? Yuuta walked forward and placed a foot upon the mast, slowly walking upwards. Nyuubai looked on in amazement, having seen his father do this kind of stuff before, but it was still so interesting to him.

?Now, what you will do, is focus your mind and then imagine the energy forming around your feet,? Yuuta explained, and Nyuubai nodded. He closed his eyes and focused, feeling the energy form about his feet. He could feel how warm it felt, and even in the cool sea breeze, he felt calmer than ever thought possible. ?Now son, you've seen me walk along the outside of the ship to make repairs, but to climb this mast you'll need a running start,?

Nyuubai nodded yet again and gritted his teeth, taking off at a full sprint towards the mast...

Hashimoto shook his head as he waved off that comfortable thought. He removed a kunai from the pouch and rested it in his grip as he focused his chakra. That same warm feeling rushed to the soles of his feet and he could only smirk. Perhaps he had been the only one able to do such a feat, but his eyes glanced to Jiraiya and Tatsuya who had already made their efforts, each doing quite well. Hashimoto wondered if anyone would notice his progress...

He heard a nearby girl ask some question, and she likely felt nervous about the context of her question. A quick glance at her showed Nyuubai that she preferred not to wear shoes. ?Odd.? He found himself whisper at his observation as his rebreather gently rasped and he turned his eyes to a nearby tree. This would likely be the easiest of Nyuubai's lessons. With the chakra fully focused he darted towards the tree, holding his straw hat with his free hand. He felt the soft thunk of his foot against the trunk and he began climbing. Higher and higher and higher, until his feet had found a comfortable height... one the length of a galleon's main-mast which were usually the size of entire trees. Almost forgetting about the kunai in his hand, Hashimoto carved a slit in the tree bark and found himself leaping onto the nearby branch. Effectively, he had gone higher than the first few students, and was probably the highest so far, and he noted this because of the thinness of the branch upon which he stood. He gazed down, able to see just above the canopy of trees and could see the shapes

    Playground Area

Tsume watched in awe as Yoshio sensei was standing upsidedown looking at them.

    "Thats pretty neat, eh Tenro?"

    "ARF!!"

Tenro's tail was wagging furiously with excitement at seeing his handler do the same. This was indeed an extremely advanced technique to learn on their first day. Tsume had heard rumors that the famous Jounin, Hatake Kakashi, The Copy Ninja... had taught the technique to Lord Hokage only after he and his squad were Genin. And even then only after a difficult battle with an S ranked Ninja. If memory served Tsume, his name had been Momochi Zabuza. Known as the Demon hidden in the Mists.

This was a very advanced technique to learn on their first day to say the very least. But if Yoshio Sensei thought that they were ready due to their respective backrounds, then Tsume would do his best not to let down.

His eyes glanced up at the snout of the puppy on his head.

"Let's do our best ok Tenro?"

    "ARF ARF!!"

Tsume took a deep breath and made his way to his own tree. As he did this he noticed that Jiraiyah and Tatsuya had done very well in their first attempts. Tsume was impressed but his laid back nature forbade him from holding himself to someone elses standard. He looked over at the girl who had asked Yoshio Sensei a question. He didn't know her name but she looked friendly enough. Tsume gave her a broad smile and a thumbs-up gesture.

"Good luck when you try! My dad told me that this is very tricky to master."

His attention returned to the task at hand. Both hands slapped together with his middle and index fingers straight up. The rest of his fingers curled overtop of each other. Tsume let out a deep exhale as he felt Tenro scurry from his head to just inside of his hoody, the puppies head sticking out of the top.

He felt energy flow into his body as the handseal removed the physical barrier. Concentration grabbed him as he pushed the chakra to his feet as hard as he could. When he was confident that he had enough he charged the tree. A few feet from it he leapt at it and ran no more than 3 steps before bark shattered and left him with nothing under him. His concentration flew away and his eyes went wide as he fell a short way to his back on the soft grass below. Tsume blinked a few times in surprise as he looked at the tree and the mark where he had shattered the bark. Not accepting defeat, Tsume stood and gently removed his Kunai. He walked slowly up to the tree, reached up and put a slash just above the broken surface.

"I guess that was a bit to much huh."

Tenro looked up at him and nodded an affirmative.

Curious now, Tsume walked around the tree, examining it's surface. As an experiment, he gathered his chakra again but this time in a much lower capacity, then stuck his foot on the tree and gave an experimental push. His foot slid off as if he had nothing on his feet at all.

"Ahhhh I see. Too much will shatter the tree by force. Not enough will do nothing but leave you staring at the sky. Heh. I guess they dont call it Chakra Control for nothing."

Tsume performed his hand seal again but this time pushed only a moderate amount of Chakra to his feet. He imagined it being a swirling entity, controlled within the confines of his mind. Concentration was key.

Kunai in hand, he rushed the tree again. Determination in his eyes. Tsume hit the tree running and found himself still running. Straight up.

    I did it!

    (suction cup sound)

    His eyes went wide.

The kunai flashed out and marked his place on the tree before he began his decent. Tsume had to push his body backwards in a reverse summersault and landed unsteadily on his feet about 10 feet below him.

    "Yup... concentration."

Tsume smiled and rushed the tree again.

"First off to you Zurui." Chenzura began, he then bent over to whisper in Zurui's ear. "That jutsu was a bluff. If I were to use anything it would be a simple genjutsu." he added softly so the thief couldn't overhear. "As for you Osuka I feel that the thief may be a bit to overconfident. Overconfidence is a great weakness, but to set you at ease...Washi-sama search the perimeter. Make sure this guy hasn't left anything behind." he said winking to the bird. The eagle then shot right into the sky and started surveying the area, eyes piercing the depths of the forest. The giant bird of prey then circled the only conceivable radius that the thief could have traveled in such a short time.

"Nothing so far, if he does have any clones out they're either well hidden or exceptionally faster." Washi-sama said as he landed nearby.

"Ok, keep searching, even widen the radius. Until then we've got this one." Chenzura said to the eagle. "Someone restrain this one, strip him of all possible weapons." he added to the others. "I've got him for now, but not indefinitely, plus the sooner we get him to Lord Hokage the better." he added as he focused to maintain his hold on the thief, replacing his clone as it vanished in a splash of water.

Eno watched as Yoshio ran up the tree. He smiled. Shinobi are powerful, he thought to himself. Eno listened as Yoshio continued.

?You see what I did, by focusing on my feet the chakra allowed me to be able to get up this high off the ground doing what most people would think is impossible. In the ninja world impossible is not a word that is used often. Walking down the way he came Yoshio came back on to the ground."

Eno nodded to himself. He was going to get as high as he possibly could today. He wasn't going to slack off. He grabbed his kunai from an inner pocket, and stared at this tree. He concentrated on his chakra, chakra he knew he had. According to Ralen, his father and mother were powerful shinobi. He was going to be as powerful as them one day.

A noise from the side distracted him. He say Jaraiya lying the ground. He looked up and saw Jaraiya's kunai mark really high on the tree.

He focused on his own tree. He stood approx. seven feet from his tree. He gathered his physical energy, which was surprisingly easy. He searched for his spiritual chakra, which he also found easily. And then he ran towards the tree as fast as he could. Suddenly, he lost his spiritual chakra. Panicking, he slammed face-first into the tree and fell backwards.

As he lay on the floor he began thinking. This was harder than he thought. He got back up and walked to the starting point. He composed his thoughts. He was going to do this. He gathered his physical energy and spiritual chakra and held on. He ran forward as fast as he could and up he went on the tree. He tried to remove the sense of elation he had at actually being able to do this and failed. He could feel his grip getting loose and made his mark on the tree. He fell back down with a large "thud." He had gone up approx. 15 feet. Nice

He got back up, composed his thoughts and energies, and ran towards the tree again. Up he went and down back he fell. 16 feet. Again he went up the tree and fell back down. 17 feet. He would continue this all day until he made it to the top.

    Forest of Death

Kuuki could hear his other comrade, who had also made it to safety along the same vein as he had, make his way towards them. "So, did it ever occure to you two this could be a clone" Osuka questioned as he sheathed his katanas. The guy knew what he was doing, would he really be caught off gaurd that easily?" Osuka said in a somewhat condescending, yet serious tone.

Zurui sighed, keeping his hand held towards the dual prison he and Chenzura held the enemy ninja inside of.

"That jutsu was a bluff. If I were to use anything it would be a simple genjutsu." Chenzura whispered to him. Zurui nodded, not that he agreed with the method or the excuse. Chenzura had been too into the battle, this was simply him trying to justify his actions. It was no concern, however, as he seemed to have his wits with him now. "As for you Osuka I feel that the thief may be a bit to overconfident. Overconfidence is a great weakness, but to set you at ease...Washi-sama search the perimeter. Make sure this guy hasn't left anything behind."

As the eagle accepted Chenzura's command, Zurui also turned towards Osuka. "Don't worry, we'll know if this is a clone soon enough. If it is a clone, the pulse of the electricity should force it to fade." he stated.

"Nothing so far, if he does have any clones out they're either well hidden or exceptionally faster."The eagle stated as it landed.

"Ok, keep searching, even widen the radius. Until then we've got this one." Osuka stated.

"If we do have a clone on our hand, and there are more, they could be using one of the rock's more formidable defensive techniques. They could be invisible." Zurui suggested. "But we won't know for sure until we get a response from this one."

"Someone restrain this one, strip him of all possible weapons. I've got him for now, but not indefinitely, plus the sooner we get him to Lord Hokage the better." Chenzura added. Zurui couldn't have agreed more, the sooner they were back in the village, the sooner he could relax for a while.

Osuka was still unsure but went ahead and began to confiscate the Rock ninja's belongings. Most of it was the avergae ninja tools. " If you'd like I'll take him to the hokage" Osuka said as he began to restrain Toru with ropes. "Also, don't rule out the possibility that he might not have been working alone. Sure we didn't see anybody else, but this could be a distraction while somebody else makes off with the actual scroll" Osuka explained.

Osuka was thurough, even against the taste of most higher rank ninja.

"And he is a rock ninja, with knowledge of earth style. So.." he said beginning to make hand signs, he bit his thumbs and slammed his hand onto a branch,"... it may not be a bad idea to search the underground." And from the smoke suddenly a large serpent appeared. It was Osuka's primary serpent summoning, Gakiri-sama.

Osuka turned to Gakiri, "Gakriri Sama, check the surrounding area for anybody else. If possible cover the same radius that Wasashi is covering" He commanded and the serpented plunged into the ground.

    Chakra Training, Ninja Academy

Manami watched as Yoshio sensei demonstrated the chakra exercise, and like a lot of her classmates was very impressed by the feat they had just witnessed. The sensei addressed them from where he stood, upside down on the tree branches

?You see what I did, by focusing on my feet the chakra allowed me to be able to get up this high off the ground doing what most people would think is impossible. In the ninja world impossible is not a word that is used often.

The students began to disperse and make their way towards the trees. Manami walked up to one with a few other students and studied it for a moment, before she prepared herself to gather her chakra. She created a hand sign and took a quiet breath in and exhaled as she closed her eyes, removing her kunai knife from the pouch at her hip. The feeling that she felt as the spiritual energy began to slowly build up inside her felt quite strange at first, and she nearly lost her concentration for a moment, but managed to regain her focus as the chakra energy continued to grow. Remembering what the sensei said, she began to try and focus the chakra to her feet. And sure enough she felt it moving to the intended area, and the area about her feet beginning to emanate a blue energy.

When she felt it was right, she opened her eyes, tightened her grip on the Kunai and ran at the tree. Her foot connected with the bark of the tree as she ran up its trunk, but she did not get far as surprise and lapse in concentration caused her too lose her footing and start to fall back down. She managed to slash a small mark into the wood of the tree as she fell, before landing awkwardly on the floor below and ending up on her rear.

    "Ow..."

She mumbled as she picked herself up off the floor, feeling a slight pain in her lower back but nothing too serious. She heard a snigger or two from a couple of fellow students nearby and she started to feel a bit embarrassed. Shaking it off, she looked up at the tree at where she had made her kunai mark. It was only at about 10-11 feet up the tree. She was going to have to do better than that. It was bound to be slightly easier the second time around, now that she kind of knew what to expect. It was definitely tough, but Persistence and focus was the key.

Stepping away from the tree again, she returned to focusing her chakra as before. The feeling becoming slightly easier and more familiar as she did so. Again, when it felt right, she ran for the tree, and this time she felt a little more comfortable and was able to keep her focus until she was about 17 feet. Slicing a mark into the bark of the tree once again, her decent was also a lot smoother, to her relief.

She started the process again, determined to try and make it even higher. She ran for the tree again.

Jiraiya rolled his shoulders again. He made the mental walk to collect his spiritual chakra and bounced on his feet. Jiraiya wiped his chin and sprinted at the tree. His mind half on maintaining his chakra and half on overshadowing Tatsuya. The Uchiha-clan shinobi had reached the top of his tree on his first attempt. Another boy had done the same. Jiraiya ground his teeth.

His foot hit the trunk and he could feel himself gaining speed as he dodged branches up the tree. Jiraiya grabbed a kunai and gripped it. He leaped forward and pushed off a branch. His momentum carried him to the tip of the tree. Jiraiya slashed with the knife and severed the top of the Sugi.

His feet, still glowing yellow, touched the flat part of the trunk. He landed on one foot, standing at the top of his tree. Jiraiya balanced for a minute, but a gust of wind shook his balance. His foot slipped and he tumbled forward. On his downward spiral, when he was facing up, he threw the kunai, as he had done previously. It whistled up and hit the very rim of the circle Jiraiya had cut in the tree. The tip of the knife stuck out from the rings.

Jiraiya flipped over again and hit a branch. It cracked and feel with him. He hit the ground hard, but with his face in the dirt and a tree limb over his back, Jiraiya couldn?t stop grinning.

Looking down from the height of the tree, he observed many of the students, some of whom were able to set their carvings high enough on the tree to be suitable. He glanced around and narrowed his eyes, seeing a nearby mark on a high tree. When he noticed who had left it, his eyes squinted and his rebreather rasped softly. ?Uchiha...? He managed to say as he heard another student across from his tree. Blonde hair, spiked, Hashimoto noticed this one as Uzumaki Jiraiya.

Glancing down at his own carving, only a few students made it to the top in their first tries, and several others were getting there soon after. Leaping upward, he disappeared into the canopy upon descent, his cloak flapping as his hand held his hat to keep it from falling off. Nyuubai leapt from branch to branch, feeling as if his feet weren't even touching them as he made his way down the tree. Once at the bottom, he crouched low, perhaps because the height wouldn't support a heavy fall without some damage to bone.

Standing up, he took a moment to gaze around at the others briefly. He could see that Jiraiya had landed face down, and in some strange act of forwardness, Hashimoto gripped the back of Uzumaki's collar, lifting his face out of the dirt. ?That doesn't seem comfortable,? Nyuubai rasped, his rebreather allowing a tsst paah sound to follow his words. The cloaked ninja set Jiraiya on his feet and took a step back to give him room.

    The Forest of Death, Konoha

Toru watched as the eagle with the Leaf ninja on it swerved from side to side avoiding the dragon lightning jutsu that he has performed. Gritting his teeth in anger as his attack was to no prevail Toru screamed with rage and frustration.

?No this can not be. You and your bird should be fried right now.?

Deciding that it would not be wise to stick around, Toru took off hoping to escape from the ninja up above. As Toru fled Chenzura leaped off the eagle and ordered it to rescue the others. The eagle squawked as it started to obey its master. The eagle swooped down and grabbed one of the Leaf ninja, who were trapped inside the caving earth by its talons. The eagle flew out toward an area of the forest that the earth element jutsu had not infected. The eagle flew back toward the other ninja and rescued them all one by one, setting them safely down in the a safe area.

"You've angered the wrong shinobi Iwa-nin." yelled Chenzura toward the Rock ninja. Then Chenzura shouted a jutsu. "Water Clone Jutsu!" A jet of water then shot forth from him and created a corporeal second version of himself. "Water Prison Jutsu." he added, almost instantly a sphere of water surrounded Toru immediately.

He was trapped with no where to go and if that wasn?t enough the Leaf ninja that imprisoned him had allowed his rage to succumbed him. The water prison was now closing in on him strangling him intentionally with a tight embrace. "Stay there, or I won't even resist the urge to kill you." Chenzura said as he leapt over to his water clone's side. He then performed two of the three hand signs for his ultimate technique.

"Don't give me a reason to finish this sequence." he added as he waited for his comrades to make it over to him. "If I do your chances of survival are about five hundred thousand to one." he added staring intently into the Stone ninja's eyes.

Toru who could barely breathe stared back in to the ninja?s angry eyes ?You don?t intimidate me, I can careless what you do. The Leaf Village will pay for what they did to my village and clan.? He said just as furious almost spitting as he spoke.

Then Toru noticed that one of the ninja?s comrades came to what look like to Toru, was to prevent further demonstrations of the jutsu that the other Leaf ninja was preparing.

Zurui flew in on his fan and shouted "Electric Cage!". The technique was a double blow for Toru who had already been imprisoned in a tight water prison. Now an electric field around the water prison was added. He knew it was for reassurances though Toru didn?t care. His eyes were still filled with hatred and nothing was going to change that.

Zurui turned toward Chenzura and said "Put that technique away. Loss in battle is no reason to let emotion cloud your judgement."

"That jutsu was a bluff. If I were to use anything it would be a simple genjutsu." Chenzura added softly so the thief couldn't overhear. Zurui wasn?t convinced at all.

Osuka had arrived shortly after. He was able to catch the details of the capture from the distance he was at before. "So, did it ever occure to you two this could be a clone" "The guy knew what he was doing, would he really be caught off guard that easily?" Osuka said sheathed his katanas. Chenzura understood that Osuka needed reassurances of the situation.

So he sent his eagle to patrol the border but it was to no prevail. There was nothing found no clones or other ninja. They all knew that the answers held were with the rock ninja. They also knew that the Hokage was eager to find out the what?s happening. Just then Kenji arrived a bit solemn.

?We lost Yuki. I was able to retrieve his body, but it was so unrecognisable from the earth which crushed his body externally as well as internall

As she waited for Yoshio Sensei to respond, she watched the other students. Some had had it almost to the top. A few had fallen, but they had gotten up quickly. Chakra Training , Ninja Academy

Yoshi sensei watched on as the students were heading for their trees and concentrating on focusing to draw out their chakra. Yoshi loved to train first year students to learn the basics for it was enlightening feeling knowing that he had some part of how they will be as a ninja. The first student to try his luck on the tree was Jiraiya. This was the Seventh?s son, Yoshio expected great things from him, but if he is anything like his father then he maybe a late bloomer when it comes to training. This was all according to Yoshio?s father Iruka who used to train the students at the academy when he was younger. The Hokage was one of his students.

He watched as Jiraiya took his time focusing on chakra. Then he darted toward the tree without his kunai. He was doing well and looked like he may reach the top of the approximate thirty foot tree. Then something went wrong. Yoshio saw Jiraiya start to tumble down. Jiraiya had the sense to remember to grab his kunai out and throw it at the spot he reached before falling. Then with a thud, Jiraiya laid splat on the ground, but not without accomplishing a great feat. He actually had managed to climb twenty three feet in the air. Yoshio smiled as he saw the kunai?s position.

?Good job Jiraiya! Yoshio said before he turned his attention to the next student. It was Tatsuya?s turn to take a chance. Yoshio noticed Tatsuya started with his focus though not as long as Jiraiya did. He took out his kunai then bolted toward the tree. He went a few steps up but then immediately started to fall toward a branch, but not before he made a cut in to the bark of the tree showing what elevation he reached. Tatsuya was determined to get up the tree. Yoshio watched on as he made a second attempt. With more effort on concentration Tatsuya ran up the tree once again and this time he was flying. Is he going to make it all the way. Yoshio thought but just then he saw Tatsuya look over toward the direction of Jiraiya and almost slipped. He recovered quickly and continued on just barely touching the top of the tree.

?Very good Tatsuya, you got the hang of it.? Yoshio congratulated. It wasn?t a surprise that some of the students were more advanced than others. He knew it was custom in some clans to train their children before they enter the academy. Still the fundamentals must be done at the academy even if they learned them at home first. After Yoshio finished watching Tatsuya a small voice nearby spoke out.

"Yoshio sensei, I have a question?"

Yoshio turned to where the voice was coming from and immediately recognised Hakkai Cho-tana. She was a small girl of twelve with black hair and a butterfly tattoo on her ankle. From her attire, the young girl appeared to naturally blend in to the trees around her. How interesting. Yoshio thought as he listened to her question.

?Yes, Cho what is your question??

"Is there a different..um...sensation, or feeling, when you focus your Chakra on your feet,.. than say, what I normally feel, when walking? .."

She said nervously while fidgeting, then she suddenly blurted out "I mean...should I be THINKING of making my feet stick to the tree?...or just concentrate on the feet themselves?"

Yoshio gave a soft chuckle and nodded. ?To answer your question, yes there is a difference in between just standing or walking to feeling your chakra flowing through you. It?s sort of like a tingling sensation and when you focus on the area that you want to apply the chakra too, in this case your feet, then your chakra will draw toward them. This will allow you to be able to run up the tree.?

?Why don?t you go ahead and try it. Remember look inside of yourself , you will sense the two energies swirling inside you. You need to have them come together by calming yourself down, allowing the nerves or any other feeling to go away. Once that is done you will feel the energies as one, then when you focus on your feet it will give the chakr
