But if you're working 6-7 days a week for who knows how many hours, one has to wonder if your quality of life isn't exactly the best, dude. Don't burn yourself out.

I was given the present of being born today, 26 years to the day. Top that, suckers!

Well, Jesus was born today, two thousand and twelve years ago to the day, which does kind of beat 26, but happy birthday!

I get to fully celebrate Christmas because I don't have to share my birthday with that holy little bastard.

We celebrate it on the 24th in central Europe. So, HA!
Actually, your argument is still somewhat valid. ;)

Oh, I'm fairly miserable with being up almost all hours of every day, and working during each one of those hours. Which is why I'm irritated that people are questioning my honesty. If you work as much as I do, chances are good that you'll make enough to afford your bills and spend money on things. It's not rocket science. And if I work all the time, the only thing that gets me through it is looking forward to the next awesome vacation.

Do you get to spend time with your daughter, ever? I'm betting she'd appreciate time with her father a hell of a lot more than some expensive gift.

Well, I lucked out and somehow managed to get Christmas Eve and Christmas Day off with her!

But I never have time for anymore daddy-daughter days. We used to have daddy-daughter days twice a week. Still, I get to see her for 3 evenings out of the week. The other 4 days are usually 10-14 shifts at work (without a break, of course, but that would be too considerate).

I've bought a book, shirt & knife as a gift for the Secret Santa/White Elephant stuff my family does, while I've given my mother/brother/father cash. So far I've received cash, a Dilbert desk calendar & this from my brother... :

    Happy Birthday! :)

Couldn't give much of anything this year, but my mom somehow managed to get me a sweet pair of cowgirl boots.

It has a stamped leather cover with gold lettering, and gold on the edges of all the pages. Honestly, it looks like a Bible. :p All the maps and illustrations are printed very cleanly, too. It looks way better than the old copy of The Hobbit I used to have.

I think the best gift I gave this year was the beef jerky maker I got for my brother. Best thing i got was probably Stephen Colbert's book America Again: Re-becoming the Greatness We Never Weren't. Or Skyrim.

Then that's not good man. Is that second job absolutely necessary? All the nice things you can get for yourself or for your daughter really don't mean diddly squat if you're having such a crappy quality of life.
