What will happen to Star Wars when George Lucas is gone?

I'm betting that George Lucas probably has another 20-25 good years in him but we're not going to have him around forever. So what will the future of our beloved franchise be when Geroge is gone? Will it just end or will someone take it over? I know he has kids but they can't possibly have the mind that Geroge Lucas has becasue a mind like that is rare.

 

Katie Lucas seems to be the most likely canidate to take over, and she has written so TCW episodes. she has written Jedi Crash, Sphere of Influence, Assassin, Nightsisters, Monster, and Witches of the Mist. They are hit and miss.

 

In a perfect world: Dave Filoni, Katie Lucas, and maybe whoever's in charge of the live-action series will take up the mantle.

In a not-so perfect world: Some hack is gonna take it and completely redo and ruin it.

 

I'd like to see Katie and Jett Lucas have it. Filoni on the other hand should be nothing more than an employee at best, same with whoever does the LA series.

 

If Filoni's still involved, I have a feeling the EU fans will be a lot happier.

 

Depends on whether or not he continues to steamroll or if he go's along with previosuly established canon. This of course goes off of the presumption Filoni would still be involved with LFL at all when GL is not around. That's why I think Katie and Jett are th eprime candidates. Maybe Amanda but she seems to have no interest in it at this time.

 

A conspiracy theory out there is that Filoni keeps trying to make the show fit with the EU, but "Big Bad George" prevents that and is stomping all over it. (great mental image BTW)

Amanda? Maybe she can be their bodyguard.

 

I hear that, but there is no way of knowing unless George is not involved. When Katie writes an episode and manages to keep intact much of a charaters EU background story, it doesn't look good for either one of them.

I wonder what the Lucas bashers will do once after he's gone.

 

Show him respect for a few weeks then return to business as usual.

From the way Filoni describes his relationship with George as Master and Padawan, I think it'd be pretty safe to say that Filoni's going to take over after George is gone. Which I'd be happy with. Filoni's heart is in the right place, and he's a fairly sharp guy.
