But seriously, I agree with Jarik. Wedge will not ever be better than Luke or Anakin/Vader, because of his lack of Force-sensitivity. Wedge will never be able to sense when he's about to have a concussion missile stuck up his fuselage, Luke and Anakin/Vader will. It's just that simple.

 

Take away Luke and Vader's Force powers, and Wedge could beat them in a Z-95 Headhunter. Wedge is the most naturally talented fighter pilot in STAR WARS.

 

Yeah, but the fact of the matter is they have the Force, Wedge doesn't. Unless Luke somehow got a Ysalmiri (sp?), he's gonna be better than Wedge. Yes, he's naturally talented, but he has no Force skill, and that's what it all comes down to.

 

Would Luke Skywalker still be alive if not for the Force? No. Would Darth Vader? No.

As a matter of a fact, if these two wimps didn't have the Force, they probably wouldn't even be in STAR WARS. But Wedge, fortunately, would. Ha!

First of all, that's totally untrue.

Second of all, you're missing the point here. The point is, they have use of the Force. There is nothing you can do to change that. NOTHING.

You might also recall that before Luke even knew the Force existed, he was fairly proficient pilot. Even when exposed to Ysalmiri, Luke can still hold his own, and I assume Anakin/Vader could do the same.

I don't even see why we're arguing over this, it's pointless.

Arguable. Jag Fel actually kicked Wedge's ass in simulations time and again. Wedge and Tycho managed to kill him once while Jag killed all the best pilots many times over including Wedge and Tycho. His father, Baron Soontir Fel, also may have been a litle better than Wedge.

Vader was evil. Luke would be scared of uhrting anyone, as hes a Jedi. Hence, Id want Wedge to lead, the level headed one.

Which is of course why I chose R2-D2 to lead. The SOB is a capable, driven, quick-thinking sneaky genius of a droid. He's pulled both Vader and Luke's butt out of the fire on too many occasions to list, especially while piloting.

If it weren't for R2, both Luke and Vader would be space-dust.

Okay, here's the idea:

One Flight are four excellent pilots who've flown together and survived impossible odds for YEARS and know each other, therefore they would make a well-rounded and kick arse flight.

Two flight is comprised of three Jedi and a Fel/Antilles, who may as well HAVE the Force when it comes to piloting, plus he's a good match for Jaina so there's an excellent and MORE than functional flight.

Three flight is comprised of three of the Empire's best, and Gavin Darklighter who is still a Rogue and can keep up with Fel, Steele and Phennir.

 

Ooh this is tough, but here it goes...If I leave anyone out it's cuz there's only twelve slots to fill.

Lead: Luke Skywalker...Duh! Tatooine farmboy placed in an X-wing for what an hour before battle of Yavin and flew like no other except maybe his dad.
2.Jaina Solo, that's a no brainer
3.Corran Horn
4.Anakin Solo-Corran and Anikan are wingmates becuz the two brashest people in the SW universe make a pretty good team if you ask me.

Even if Myn Donos isn't that great of a pilot, he is a sniper, and its always good to have a sniper around. Plus he's corellian, so he's got luck on his side. And i would have all A-Wings. A-wings kick butt.

Luke is just as good as Wedge or Tycho or Fel. Even without the Force. Remember in simulators you cant really use the Force because everyone is always the same distance away from you all the time. You cant know if they are right behind you or if they are just coming into the engagement zone. That being said, Luke has beaten Wedge many times just as Wedge has beaten Luke. And I thought it said somewhere that old Wedge still beat Jaina in the simulators. Or maybe that was in Fan-Fic.And I just read I, Jedi again and it described the detail in which Tycho used his senses to box in an enemy. It was really interesting to read and gave insight to how a non-Jedi could be just as good as a Jedi.

 

Yes, Wedge does regularly beat Jaina in simulators.
