Who's seen the picture up on the Official Site?

Yes, I'm not suggesting that Lucas himself decides what goes up on the website, but doesn't it strike you as odd that they would put up a picture of a duel involving two characters, one of which we knew nothing about up to this point?

I mean, the duels are like the coolest and most suspenseful part of the saga. Granted this may not be THE duel in the movie but it certainly could be.

 

No, I don't find it odd at all.

They are trying to pique your interest, and showing you something from a scene that will be one of the coolest in the film, has definitely done that. They've got to eventually introduce who the baddie is, and it's not too early, we're less than a year away. They're starting to slowly unveil some of this stuff.

 

I'm with Darth Mouth on this. If that IS Dooku in the pic (which I'm not sure if I can see...), it is a mystery why LFL is releasing such a straight forward tell it all pic 1 bleeding year before the movie opens... ?

I mean, charismatic separatist + evil + red lightsaber + fighting Anakin. Well, it's not that hard to work out the rest, is it? And LFL knows that. This is too obvious.

But a great pic. And such a great debate.

Seeing as the selects have been tied to releases of other official info from LFL, can we expect Dooku's identity to be revealed this upcoming week...?

 

The lightsaber colour doesn't mean much though.

Vader = White
Obi-Wan = Green
Mace = Green
Maul = Orange
Ankain = Green...

Well, I'd agree that the saber color means zip if I suddenly saw a pic of Ewan wielding a red one, but come on. Chris Lee, the evil charismatic separatist dressed in black...? Will you guys be saying "saber colors mean nothing" when we get those pics of Anakin with a red saber in about 3 years time? Me think not.

 

No, Adali-Kiri I think you might be misunderstanding KaaShamau. The color of the plastic rods that the actors use means nothing. In fact they rarely correspond to the colors that we see in the movie.

The glowing blades' colors are certainly significant.

As for the plastic blades, it seems that they only come in red and green.

 

Nope, Darth Mouth. I understand completely what he's on about. I am 100% aware that Ewan mostly used a green rod while shooting TPM. My point was that the day I see him using a red rod I'll agree that the color means nothing. The only red lightsaber rods I've seen on SW sets have been wielded by soon to be immortal Sith Lords.

Granted, it could be seen as more orange than red but it sure ain't green.

And just as an afterthought with the pic that KaaShamau just posted, it seems to me that Qui-Gon's green rod is bending just a bit, so the bending of the dark figure's rod in the new select is probably due to the prop and not to the actual saber.

 

Well, I'm sure Dooku will have a blue saber, then...

I'm so glad that we get to see much more of the Jedi Council in AotC.

 

Could this be the last Select picture? The file name is "selectfin.jpg" ( the other ones had "sele_ctXX.jpg" where XX is the select number)

 

Perhaps... I was looking at the Select index page a couple of days ago, where it has all the thumbnails of the Selects, and there was only one blank space left...

And, of course, "fin" is French for "end".

 

If it IS the last one, it was a good idea and lots of fun to look forward to each week.

 

I kinda hope it IS the last one. As I'd like to see what they come up with next. The selects have run their course anyway, IMO.
