Another battle of the motifs is at the very end of the movie. The Imperial March plays its first full performance in the prequels, signifying the dark times ahead. After we see Bail Organa's gestures of dissapointment and Palpatine's plan coming into place, we cut to the two lovers, Anakin and Padme. Their love theme swells up, desperately combating the evil march that was heard before. Combined with the look they give each other after they kiss, this scene signifies that their love will give birth to a new hope for the galaxy in those dark times. Showing the foreshadowing of darkness first and the foreshadowing of hope second was pure genius, IMHO.
