I'm also a big Ralph McQuarrie fan. I actually preordered his art book from his website and I am also trying to pick up his McQuarrie figures from Hasbro. When I found out about the prints, I literally jumped! But after hearing that there will be an extra day only for members of the official SW fan club, my hopes went down! LOL!!! I just feel the odds of me and thousands of fans versus 125 pieces of each print, pretty sure that they will sell out that Thursday for the fan club members.

Will Droman's print be at the Art Show or at a special booth on the floor? I seem to recall Dorman having his own booth on the floor at C3.

I FINALLY found an art tube.

    OFFICE DEPOT
You can find a Staedler brand one that is all black that telescopes from 27" to 40", comes with a carry strap for $16.99.

I went to so many office stores and art supply places and NO ONE had the plastic tubes. This one's nice and like that it feels light and looks pretty shatter resistant.

I'm more a Perth Alumnus (I hold a degree from murdoch Universtiy, baby!), but Perth still holds a place in my heart.

It'll be interesting to see just how many perthites come up and say g'day. I may not say G'day back because it sounds goofy in a Canadian accent.

AH! Ahhh! In one week + one day I drive to Seattle so I can fly out to LA on the 22nd.

    So excited!

    Everybody
I was just informed that most airports will NOT let you put anything under the plane with a strap , IE a Poster Tube or a gym bag type of suitcase. They will confiscate it. My poster tube & my giant gym bag Im bring with me has a strap so I will be tacking them off there and back.

Hey, Eric. What about bringing a poster tube with a shoulder strap onto the plane as a carry-on, which is what I plan on doing?

Who told you this? I travel with people who have bags with straps with them all the time! Think of the bags which have shoulder straps, for instance, like a duffle bag or even a backpack. Heck, the baggage handlers pick bags up by the straps.

Now, a poster tube I wouldn't check, because it's too small.

My friend just flew to Detroit last week and they confiscated both of his shoulder straps from his bags ,telling him that airline will not lut you have them under the plane because there is a chance of the straps getting tangled up with other luggage.

So the mystery now is how the heck are you supposed to carry anything?

How is it for decades they've done this, but just now they figured out that the straps could do this? ugh... Soon theyu won't allow handles! haha!

Ah, that's American. So, they are getting to be sticklers about this. Too bad. Obviously best course of action is to remove them. Taping them down might work, too. I see lots of packing tape on bags :).

Concerning luggage straps, luckily mine comes off of my garment bag, so I jsut remove it before I check it in, and put it back on when I retrieve it from the carousel. As for the poster tube strap, I bring it as a carry on, and have never had a problem with it. Another option would be to tighten the strap on the poster tube, so it's as close to the tube as possible.

I have ALWAYS removed the straps from my luggage and stowed them within when I check them. It's a habit from way back, I've been flying since I was a teen.

It isn't sticking it to the common man, and you don't have to leave your straps at home. When you go to check your bags, just unclip the straps, stick 'em in a side pocket and away you go :)

That might be too long. For instance, Southwest limits carryon bag dimensions to 10x16x24 inches.

Really, only thing to do is to call your airline and ask. Better to do it ahead of time rather than get a surprise when you get to the airport.

If the airline does not allow the poster as carry on, ask them if they have procedures with dealing with oversized fragile carryons, like a skycheck. I;ve had stuff sky checked before and it goes in a different luggage compartment.

Me and my wife are flying with AIRTRAN AIRWAYS and I checked on their website and no carry-on item may exceed overall dimensions of 55 inches (length + width + height) and all carry-on items must fit under the seat or in the overhead bin.

My clear, blue poster tube is 37" x 2 3/4" I.D., so the size of it shouldn't be a problem. :)

It sounds even funnier with a Southern accent. A friend who migrated to Oz came from Alabama and we never tire of hearing him try Aussie lingo.

As to the poster tubes, do check as others have said. Coming through both immigration and then having an internal US connection the procedures are stricter. But there was a lot of stuff (including some poster tubes) that came through both carry-on and "fragile"/specialist check-in on both my flights.

Forgive me if this has already been covered, but does anyone know how payment is going to work?

At C3 we went around to each artist and received a voucher that we payed for at the register and then went back to get our print. I actually liked this method because I could just charge everything at once.

I thought I read somewhere that at C4 we have to pay each artist individually in CASH, like you have to do at a comic-con.

    Is this true?

I hope you didn't read that!

I can't imagine they'd do anything differently from the past. None of the artists I have contacted for pre-orders has said anything like that.

As far as I know it is still occuring the same way as C3. I haven't heard anything about paying the artists directly in cash so that would be a surprise to me...I mean some of those guys are selling 250 prints at a $100 a piece or more. That would be a lot of cash they would have to walk around with...

You pick up a sales form from the artist (it's in triplicate). The artist fills this out (I believe one for each item). You take the form to the Art Show cashier to pay. The cashier keeps one copy and gives two back to you marked "paid". You come back to the artist and give them their copy of the form as proof of purchase and you get your print (or other artwork). You keep one copy of the sale form.

PLEASE NOTE - We the artists have NO idea if you actually paid for the item until you come back and pick it up with the approved "paid" form. PLEASE pick up your art after you pay!!
Don't walk off with plans to pick it up at the end of the day. We can't save your print (unless you make specific arrangements with the artist).

There were many fans that would pick up sales forms and then never pay for them. We only know you're a paid customer after you come back with the form. Please try and only take a sales form if you're serious about purchasing - saves us some paperwork and confusion when we wonder if you're coming back.
