With the recent interest in crappy sci-fi and horror flicks piqued by films like "Mansquito" and "Alien Apocolypse", I was wondering if maybe we whould have a Cheesey Sci-Fi Movie Festival. I went through my DVD collection and picked out the flicks I thought that might fit the bill. This is what I've got:

Them - giant ants are cool, 'specially when they hang out in the sewers of L.A. and kill people

The Toxic Avenger - I've only got the first one, but Erik has the first three!!

The Stepford Wives - The old version, not the one directed by Yoda.

The Re-Animator - One guy carries around his own head in a satchel for the last third of the movie!

Night of the Living Dead - Obviously

One Million Years B.C. - Dinosaurs and Raquel Welch in a fur bikini. Score!

Repo Man - You'll want to own a Chevy Malibu after tis one.

Earth Vs. the Flying Saucers - Ray Harryhausen does UFOs!!

The Time Machine - The 60s version

X, The Man With the X-Ray Eyes - With a title like that, it has to be shlock.

Plan 9 From Outer Space - The worst movie ever made. It's hilarious!

Mars Needs Women - The perfect example of how to make a movie from stock footage.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers - The old black and white movie

The Day the Earth Stood Still - Klaatu Verata Niktu!!

Forbidden Planet - There's a robot who makes booze in this one.

Bad Taste - What Peter Jackson was doiong before he became a hack.

Cannibal! The Musical - Where the word "spidoinkle" came from.

Cabin Fever - The one kid from Boy Meets World is in it!

I also have two AMC Monsterfest 4-movie sets that have stuff like The Brain That Wouldn't Die and Jesse James Meets Frankenstien's Daughter on them. Also, there's the Evil Dead movies and Bubba Ho-Tep, but I figured those were obvious.

So, is there any interest in doing this? And what other cheesey sci-fi flicks do people have?

I also forgot that I have like seven Godzilla movies. Not including the Roland Emmerich version; it was kinda lame.

Personally, I vote for "Orca." I haven't seen that movie in a long time. [Killer whale voice ON]: "Wwweeeeeeeee!"

Since our list of fantabulous movies is getting quite long, I suggest we break it down into categories: mutant animals, mutant people, aliens, creature features, etc. That way we could focus on one type of movie each weekend.

    Godzilla rocks, too.

Do the original Planet of the Apes movies count?

I think this would be a blast, and we should divide the movies into categories, like Laura said. I am free any weekend except for the 23.

Is everyone still going to watch Snake King this saturday???

I'm still planning on Snake King. Maybe we should try to do the animal night Saturday, since we're already gonna watch a giant snake. Any thoughts?

Let's keep it in the freaky animal theme. [face_chicken] I vote for Orca, Them, Godzilla, Planet of the Apes, etc.

    Just my 2 cents worth.....

YES - Can someone call Jessica??? (Erik) Even if she can't come, maybe we can borrow the movie.

Melissa - it appears we have all begun to mix 2 threads here!! Here are the plans: whoever can get away is coming to our house tonight (Friday) for hanging out, movies, and X-Box. Tomorrow night (Saturday), the gang is getting together for The Snake King and other mutant animal movies, also at our house.

We usually get started around 7:00, so you can plan on getting here any time after 6:00 (both Fri. & Sat.).

I hope this clears up the confusion!!
