Why is the entire Jedi council on Naboo at the end? Was Qui-Gon really that well known? or are thay just bored in a dead time for the Jedi? I think its a little much for the whole coucil to go all the way to Naboo.

I think it might have been because the council needed to find out if there really was a Sith or if it was something else. They needed more to go on than just Obi-Wan's story.

Qui-Gon was quite well respected and known. Obi says that he would easily have a seat on the council if he wasn't such a rebel.

Outside of that, this is the first Jedi killed by a Sith in 1000 years. It's a pretty big deal.

You hit the nail right on the head DS615 This is a pretty big event. And by that point, the council knows that it's the Sith behind it. The resurfacing of your 1000 year old extinct arch-nemesis is big doings.

Qui Gon was one of the most respected Jedi ever...

so of course the council would be there...

but they also wanted to find information about the sith...1000 years and now they are back

Aswell as the reasona already mentioned, Palpatine had just been elected so they could have been protecting him going back to a planet that was just under seige.

Of course, Qui-Gon is respected, and he was kileld by a Sith. Who WOULDN'T want to visit Naboo anyway?

They wanted to honor Qui-Gon. He could have been on the council. Beside the movie had to end somewhere.

Rather than bring Qui-Gon's body to Coruscant for a Jedi funeral, why not leave it there and have the Jedi come to his funeral? Qui-Gon was heavily regarded in the Jedi Order. Plus, down where Maul was fell to his death, there may have been evidence from Obi-Wan's story to show the Jedi.
