My brother and I keep trying to get his wife to watch it. "You gotta see Luke and his busted nose!" We fast-forwarded through the songs and cringed our way through the squicky Mermeia sequence. However, the cartoon was totally worth it and the cantina sequence (and its song) is possibly one of the better live-action sequences. The song was catchy, though watching Krelman drink through his head was... icky.

I saw that Holiday Special when it aired in 1978. Gaaaaah! SW was a shock-wave of hyper-coolness that blasted through the fan world in 1977. We were desperate for any new SW. Empire could not come soon enough. And then we got the Holiday Special . . . . wow, we all plummeted to earth after seeing that.

I remember seeing it when it first aired, and yeah, it was pretty hokey. I don't remember too much of it. I vaguely remember the cantina sequence. Considering I'm one of the few who actually likes Jar Jar Binks, I'm sure I can find something good in it.

The cartoon was pretty cool, although the drawing style made my eye twitch, and the cantina scene with Bea Arthur singing is worth watching. Those were the two things that we didn't fast-forward, besides the main 'story'. My friend will probably get me to watch it again with him this year, but this year we can buy booze and drink our way through it.

Anyways. Back to the main topic. All the rumors flying around make me want to smash my head on my desk (I'm young. I was not exposed to this durring the prequels). I can't believe people believing anything any "unnamed but reliable source" says. First of all, I doubt Disney knows exactly what they are doing yet. Secondly, this is Disney and a lot of LFL are probaly still working for them. These people know how to keep things under wraps!

Indeed. I'm trying not to fall into any of these rumors. I won't believe anything until it's gone through the Lit forum and Wookieepedia. If we believe it, then it must be true.

I suspect I'm beating a dead horse, but what the heck.

To the melody of The Times They Are a-Changin by Bob Dylan:
Star Wars Is a-Changing
Come gather 'round people, for who would have thought
That Lucas was selling what Disney has bought?
Will they ditch the EU as some say they ought?
You know fans are already raging
That the love they invested will all be for naught
And Star Wars - will it be changing?

'Twas 'Seventy-Seven when Star Wars premiered
In those days "A New Hope" had yet to appear
Then Empire and Jedi did bring up the rear
The trilogy prefectly ending
But Star Wars ain't over, no, never you fear
Yes, Star Wars - it was just starting

Next Heir and the Glove would continue the plot
And one was made canon; the other was not
But bits of the Glove made it into the pot
For somebody thought it worth saving
That's why Star Wars canon's as big as a Hutt
For Star Wars - it was expanding

Along came the Prequels and Lucas declared
That Luke, though a hero, was only the heir -
That Star Wars was all about Ani's despair,
His fall, and eventual saving
Luke's just a footnote, if anyone cares
And Star Wars - it was a-changing

The Sequels are coming - just look at those memes
Now is this a nightmare or every fan's dream?
But nothing is fixed till it's shown on the screen
Till then it's all just speculating
So let's cross our fingers till Twenty-Fifteen
When Star Wars - it may be changing
