//EDF PURPOSE//

The PURPOSE of the EU Defense Force is to defend the Expanded Universe, its fans and creators from the viscious attacks, bigotry and intolerance perpetrated by 'EU-Bashers'. The ULTIMATE GOAL is a TF.N Jedi Council where EU fans are free to speculate on and discuss EU-related ideas without conflict.

//EDF REGULATIONS//

1) Back-up your teammates in their defense of the EU and it's fans.
2) Alert the Squadron of any 'enemy activity'.
3) Place something in your sig that shows you're part of the team.

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY:

3) NO FLAMING of others in defense of the EU. Be able to intelligently defend your views while maintaining a sense of dignity and respect. If you create a bad image of yourself while performing squadron duties, you make the rest of us look bad. Remaining CALM during a mission is the best 'energy sheild' you can have against another's antagonism.

//EDF RANKS AND TITLES//

RANKS:
------
No Stars = Private
1 Star = Corporal
2 Stars = Lieutenant
3 Stars = Captain
4 Stars = Lieutenant Colonel
5 Stars = Colonel

As your stars increase, so does your rank. (NOTE: As a member of the EDF, YOU are responsible to inform me (via PM) of your newly acquired star, so that I can update the crew list.)

TITLES:

In addition to rank, there are a few TITLES that are assigned to certain members, to help keep the command structure clear within EDF. These are:

'Commodore': This is my title, as head of the EDF.

'Commander': This is the title given to a Squadron Leader
-
'XO': This stands for 'eXecutive Officer'. Such a person has administrative and organizational duties within the squadrons to which he/she is assigned. We keep a ratio of 1 XO for every 2 squadrons. An XO is the only type of post which can be a part of the EDF and yet NOT participate in any of the battles. If the XO choses to limit his participation in that way, then his/her rank is designated as 'Civilian' rather than having a specific rank based on his/her stars. ORDINARILY, the XO flies with the rest of his squadron.

New rank should work fine; remember to update the Squadron leaders ranks to accomodate title

or else the "title" will be for naught. But I like it, adds a bit more cohesiveness and credibility. Lets try to address ourselves by rank now and again, too.

And if Black Flight does not mind, I believe we should add a name to our Squadron, like the Black Knight Squadron, or somesuch.

Why do people with less stars get to be squad commanders? That completely contradicts the whole rank idea.

That is a valid question. Initially, ranking was more/less in order of signing up. As the ranks grew, we branched out and started new Flights. Those who said they'd helm the new flights, got the job of commander, but, like in my case, I am outranked by a few in my Squadron. I just have the "title" commander for the next 200+ posts.

You could equate it to Luke and Kam Solusar. Kam had been a Jedi/Dark Jedi for longer than Luke had been trained, and was older, outranked him, but because Luke started the Order adn recruited Kam, Kam was beneath Luke in rank, despite experience. Does that make sense to you?

So even if Ganner had only 2 stars, as the founder, he still is commodore. He started it, it is his EDF which we serve.

But I'm sure this wont create conflict unless a lesser ranking officer decides on a stupid course of action, in which case I trust he will be corrected.

Red-6: I ended the old one 1) because we were restructuring the group and the thread said 'EU Squadron' still and 2) becasuse all of the rules and stuff that we had developed were all over the board, so it made it a little confusing.

Black-10: I understand what you're saying. The reason that I'm not changing postings based on the rank is that it may not be seen as fair, and I'd rather not piss people off on that unnecessarily. One solution could be that we operate on rank FROM NOW ON and that each time we start a new squadron, we have a high-ranking person move to a squadron leader position. I'm open to suggestions on it, but it has to be done right.
