Just a little bit of wisdom I found out the hard way:

DO NOT upgrade to the new iPod firmware (v. 1.1) released on Jan. 10 if you have a 60 gig iPod. This update causes problems with video encoded by many popular, third-party encoding programs, most notably Videora iPod Converter. After updating, these files no longer play correctly; generally, they play for about 20-30 sec., the video freezes for a sec., and then continues with no audio. This problem doesn't occur with videos from iTunes, or with video encoded with Quicktime Pro, and the problem doesn't seem to occur at all on the 30 gig model. The firmware upgrade introduces some interface changes, improves lagging in menu mavigation and video playback, and enables the use of the FM remote. You're not missing anything major. I imagine Apple will address this problem, and if not, Videora will likely update their converter. For more info, see this page on iLounge. That page also has instructions for downgrading your firmware to v. 1.0 if you've already updated.

    Just FYI.
