From us to you: Advice for Newbies from Oldbies

I thought this might be helpful for some of the other newbs around here.

Oldbies: What is the single most important piece of advice you have that you would like to share with a newbie about the JC?

Newbies: What questions do you have about the JC, utilize Oldbie experience and ask it here.

Here is my advise:

1) Never take snide comments personally.

 

whats a snide comment? ?

 

Dangnabit I can't think of one.

Now dish out some of your infinate wisdom for the newbs before I have to call in the thugs.

 

Umm, I dont think this is a Good Idea, I can Imagine Oldbies coming in here saying things like 'Dont be a n00b'

Think before you post. That is all. Think. Don't post just to do it, don't post to run up your post count. Think and post when you have something to say. That's not to say you always have to say something intelligent or anything like that. Just think. And read the thread in full before you post. Of course, if you take my advice and think, that will be obvious to you.

Here's my advice to newbies,

1.Don't take the boards too seriously.Our main thing here is to have fun talking about SW!

I had to learn the hard way how to control myself on those, now I just do certian words, not everyother word .

I'm not an oldbie compared to other people around here but I've been here for a year or so and I've found that the boards are alot of fun. So just have fun and meet alot of new people whilst doing it!

Nice thread. Some good advice up there.

One more: Take your time to get used to the forums. Don't start a lot of new threads when you're new, better reply to others to get a feel for the boards first.

Oh, and follow our Terms of Service, of course. But that should be a given.

Yes'm... And if you Newbies wish to know another piece of advice, always listen to the forum Managers, and Moderators, tis be bad varmen if you go agianst the grain .

Also, thanks to everyone who posted advice for us Newbs. It is hard to get used to the boards and hopefully this would make it easier for some of us, I know that a few comments already posted would have helped me about 6 months ago.

Rule number uno!: If you don't like what you see, there is a little button in the top corner to hit...it's an ejection button that will get you out.

I think it's more n00bish to complain about the bad posters and horrible moderators and such then it is to post a little too much and be a little annoying.
