We were about to add our place as a venue too, but since Lozza's got in first, and the same centric issues apply, well... anyway, our place is an option too.

Magnus, whaddya mean by number of people coming?

Ok folks it's my place, from 1pm onwards. There is a supermarket down the road and a bottle-o. Bring some food stuff. Bring some stuff to watch. And we'll sort it all out when people get here.

If you need my address PM me, or send me an sms.

I'm going to this if anyone else is interested:

The Big Bang and Dark Energy ? Associate Professor Michael Drinkwater, Dr. Kevin Pimbblet and Dr Tamara Davis

Did the Big Bang happen? How can we be sure? What evidence is there at the present time for the Big Bang happening? What is dark energy? How is it connected to the Big Bang? How are astronomers currently looking for dark energy?

In this presentation, three astronomers from the University of Queensland will give an entertaining tour of these and other modern Big Questions in science with a theatrical flavour. In particular, they will describe their work on an ambitious 4-year Australian project to measure dark energy.

    Monday 6th October 2008
6:30 pm to 7:30 pm (Doors open at 6 pm)

    Ithaca Auditorium, Brisbane City Hall

    Free, no booking required

There will be refreshments following the talk, and Michael, Kevin and Tamara will be available to answer any questions.
[/blockquote]

Sounds great; wish I wasn't working that night.

In other news, the Brisbane Groove and Grape Festival is coming on the weekend of October 18/19.

The line up looks good, and the food and drink on offer doesn't sound too bad either. Something to keep in mind. I may be going Saturday, but I'll probably still be dressed as a cowboy from the night before :p

    Be seeing you,

Shouldn't official motions be made in the War Room? :p

I'll also be there. With a mask. Maybe some knives. No hat though.

In other news, a little local jazz band I like named Laique are playing at the Brisbane Jazz Club this Friday night. Doors open at 6.30, cover is $15. I'll be there. With a hat. People are welcome to join me.

    Be seeing you,

Jazz sounds good, but Friday is The Kids' wedding, and although the wedding is early I'm not sure where we'll all be come Friday night. Hopefully somewhere along the lines of pleasantly drunk. [face_thinking]

My friend saw this in Melbourne, and thought it was Awesome.

Probably helped that he spotted Rose Byrne playing Super Mario Brothers there...we should be so lucky!

    I'm in. Let's get a group together.

Saw a bit about the Optimism exhibit and am interested in that.

You guys have opened my eyes to musicals so I'd like to see Chicago.

And I have tickets to Juiced which will be an odd odd experience I'm sure.

Well, I've pre-ordered a copy or so of Repo! A Genetic Opera so when that finally arrives in the PO Box, I'll be suggesting a "Hey who wants to watch this movie" night.

Any marathons anyone's up for currently? And by marathon I mean things I can stay awake for..so like, about 2 movies in a row?? ;)

We'e seen Terminator 2 a thousand times..but maybe it's necessary for a 1/2 viewing before the next film, or we could act it out with mime and various household goods.
