Ghost Rider & Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance

I think cremating villains with Hellfire that he shoots from his hands can be classified as being an "anti-hero", don't you? But yes, he was created in the same vane as anti-heroes such as Dirty Harry, Judge Dread, Blade, Wolverine etc. Why do you think I like him so much!

Actually, there very similar in alot of ways. McFarlane has said as much. Ghost Rider was one of the main inspirations for Spawn.

Bro, your calling Ghost Rider an " Angel of Death ", " A judge ", and " the Devils' Bounty Hunter " AND saying that have almost nothing in common? I wouldnt call Spawn a poorly conceived rip off, either, because that pretty much suggests that their very similar - which they are. If anything Spawn is alot darker, more violent, very little hope, and is adults only fiction but its definetely inspired by Ghost Rider amongst other things.

 

Let's go down the checklist:

Powers gained from Demonic being?
Ghost Rider: Check Spawn: Check

Both made deals with the devil to save the life of someone important to them
GR: Check (Crash Simpson) S: Check (Himself, to be with Wanda)

Supernartural chains as weapons?
GR: Check S: Check

IMHO Spawn is nothing more than Ghost Rider combined with Venom (someone else who was created by McFarlane.)

 

Flaming body, leathers and Motorcycle?

GR: Check S: Er...Nope....

 

Of course there are differences. My only point was that there are a lot of similarities.

 

Spawn Is way more tounge in cheek than Ghost Rider. Ghost Rider, is way darker, with deep psycological undertones.

 

then answer me this people, why the hell is nicholas cage playing him. i've loved gr for years and while there is such potential here, is the movie gonna be worth seeing?

 

I don't know if it's going to be good or not, but it definetly looks like it could be a guilty pleasure for me.

 

I thought he might be a little too old for the part, but he looks okay in the trailer.

 

I am convinced this movie will be awesome - I love Cage in just about anything but this one I would see just for the pyro.

 

i enjoy watching movies with Cage in them also and the fact that he's a big fan of the Ghost Rider comics helps me have faith in this movie in that he doesn't want to screw it up

Exactly, I mean come on - Cage riding a flaming bike and he can shoot fire and such? Totally my kind of movie.

 

I tell you, I was dismayed when I heard of Cage being considered some time ago for one of the Superman scripts that was floated around. Cage in this I can see.

 

did i really write that? i think i had just seen the trailer for ghost rider and all i could think about was elvis as grider. i am willing to give him a shot. afterall, he did say,

"i'm gonna save the day." in conair which was AWESOME. sometimes how a celeb lives in his real life bleeds into how we perceive his work. he did look good in the trailer. there is just a raw quality to ghost rider that i hope he captured.

Just watched it. I only know a little of the character but what I've seen looks interesting. I'll probably watch this at least once.

 

it's the same guy that did Daredevil which I actually liked so I'll definately be seeing this one. plus the motorcyle looks sweet
